Here's an interesting blurb i came across & thought folks might like too
In August we asked you for your unbiased (and perhaps very early) opinions about the fall TV season.
What shows have the highest awareness? Nostalgia rules: MacGyver (63%), Lethal Weapon (35%), and Timeless (33%) topped the list.
What shows have the most people planning to watch them at least once? MacGyver (34%), Timeless (27%), and Westworld (23%) have attracted the most attention from this panel.
What ONE show are the highest number of people looking forward to? There's a lot to choose from, but the highest vote-getters were: Westworld (13%), Marvel's Luke Cage (13%), and Timeless (10%)
What show is most likely to be canceled first? Son of Zorn (10%), MacGyver (7%), and The Exorcist (7%) are not inspiring confidence with you, at least not yet.
A TV critic friend of mine called this fall TV season much more promising than last year's: "I'm just trying to figure out when I'll have time to watch all of it." Thank goodness for giant DVRs.
As far as returning shows go, you guys still enjoy The Big Bang Theory (48% looking forward to it) but really have it in for Dancing With the Stars (43% said "please just cancel it"). But what one returning show are the highest number of people looking forward to? Top vote-getters were The Walking Dead (12%), The Big Bang Theory (8%), and The Blacklist (5%).
it's shaping up to be an interesting fall. I haven't gotten to watch many of the new shows yet but am certainly excited by a few, Designated Survivor, Pitch & Luke Cage. Which new show's are you interested in ?
-
New shows added to my TV schedule-- Westworld, Timeless, Frequency and Designated Survivor.
Probably DVR / binge-watch -- Conviction, Aftermath, Channel Zero, Incorporated, Falling Water, MacGyver, The Exorcist, Luke Cage and Dirk Gently.
-
I caught the FX show Better Things-- generally i dislike half hr sitcom's & was skeptical but i'll continue watching it- I think the scene {eta} hooked me was when the oldest daughter talked abt getting pot & the mom was, like, "why are you talking to me about this? I don't want to know these things'
Anyone caught Atlanta? it's also on FX- it seems quirky.
mostly i've been watching season/series enders. Not happy with series ends of rizzoli Isles, but ok with beauty&the beast end.
I'm not sure how i feel abt the Dark Matter season end- it seems to be going down a rabbit hole i'm not particularly happy with. I'm puzzled by the end of BrainDead- not quite sure how it'll have a second season perhaps on Wall Street....
still behind on Mr robot, killjoy's & ripper street
-
I watched the first episode of Son of Zorn online yesterday. There's definitely a strong 'homage' to He-Man. But the humor wasn't quite right. Rather than being 'smart' humor, which plays on love for the genre (such as you see on BBT or in any Chris Hardwick performance) it's very much dumbed down, and sometimes mean. If you were a fan of He-Man or similar cartoons, you might not appreciate the underlying tone of the program.
I really wanted to like this one, but the first episode was definitely something of a turnoff.

Oh my. A He-man homage TV show would be my everything. However I'm sad to hear it doesn't quite work.
Hopefully each episode will pick up more and more.
I look forward to hearing more about it as I don't think we will get it over here.

I don't know if there's a geographic restriction to watching it, but then there are also VPN services that can mask your location. ;)
I believe it is also available on Hulu, if you have access to that.
As for the He-Man influence, you can see it easily when you look at the titular character.

Massively sorry to hear this- i was going to give it a try. it's such an interesting idea.
but i do hate show's that play to the masses who laugh at geeks. perhaps i'm reading too much into your summation but i'm sooo very skittish.

Thanks. I'll try and see if either work this weekend.
I'll only be happy if the show has the same homo-erotic undertones as He-man - hahaha hahaha

It's not so much that it makes fun of geeks, but it makes fun of Zorn in a way that can get grating after awhile, particularly if you love characters of that nature. In a comedy, everyone is the butt of the joke sometimes, but Zorn is the butt of almost every joke (with a few saved for the lame-duck fiance). And I personally found the humor to be a bit mean. But you should give it a try yourself. The episode is only 22 minutes (the Fox link shows it without commercials) so it's not a big time investment one way or the other.
I'll only be happy if the show has the same homo-erotic undertones as He-man - hahaha hahaha
Not in the first episode anyway... although there are a number of jokes about random characters being murdered.
-
Looking forward to Agents of SHIELD and Designated Survivor this week!
-
I realized that Last Man on Earth returns next Sunday. Looking forward to that! It's so strange... but I still laugh whenever I watch!
-
the thought occurred to me... perhaps the reason "Designated Survivor' is so interesting to everyone is because we all are so fed up with politics
-

I believe so also, it will definitely be refreshing.
-
This is a big week for my DVR, it's like a rain of new and returning shows! And also, the Mr. Robot finale. I'm gonna try that new NBC show This is Us. It looks like it might fill the sentimental schmaltzy hole Parenthood left in my line-up.
Not really interested in Designated Survivor, I'm just not feeling it at the moment, really. If it turns out you all rave about it, I can catch up.
Excited for the return of my "so dumb I can't help but laugh," Scream Queens this week as well as my "WTF NOW!?! Soap Opera" How to Get Away with Murder.
Last night was probably the best Emmys ever.....Tatiana and Rami both won, I was slayed. I didn't think the Academy had it in them!
-
i responded in the emmy thread
-
loved the Lucifer season premiere
I gave 'the good place' a few mins... i gotta admit... well maybe the entire show ... LOL... it's funny
"who got it right?'
"well, every religion got about 5% right, except for Doug Forest"
"who's Doug Forset?"
"Doug was a stoner kid who lived in Calgary in the '70. one night he got really high on 'shrooms and his friend asked him 'what do you think happens when we die.'
"Doug launched in to a monologue where he got about 92% right."
i don't know if the premise will carry it through a few eps but I found the first one funny. the writing is decent, total surprise.
remember I'm the world worst reviewer because i like everything
LOL
anyone else catch any of the new shows?
-
I am enjoying The Good Place. I don't know if it will make the regular rotation, but I am liking it for now.
We watched Lethal Weapon and really liked it. I'm not a good reviewer either. The leads had good chemistry, and I am a big fan of the Wayans.
We saw Frequency at Dragon Con (the local CW screened it and then asked for volunteers to take a survey-we didn't, but I was super happy that they showed it). I thought it was pretty good. We will check it out when it comes out. I do hate that the CW is waiting so long to start up.
We are loving Better Things on FX. Pamela Adlon is amazing!
Not a new show, but the new season of American Horror Story has really drawn me in. So great! (I told you guys I wasn't a good reviewer)
eta-I finally got caught up on my TV Guide reading, and now have a bunch more new shows I want to check out.
-
Only thing I've watched so far is Agents of SHIELD. Am cautiously optimistic. Having the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider worked better than I thought it would, and I liked how we got a more mature version of the character than we (not to long ago) got in the comics. Have to see how the season goes :)
-
it's been super hard to push through all the new shows [member=4270]mark[/member]
i've got a 9gb total devoted to my dvr's so lots of stuff gets stacked up for later- >:D
the one outstanding show is Designated survivor imo so far- and a bunch of really good show's seem to be on the schedule for Oct. [member=1060]DRWHO42[/member] and i are working on the Oct over view & the weekly reminders always get published on Sunday.

Has The Exorcist started yet?

Starts tonight!
I shall be interested to hear what is made of it.
I don't see it going beyond one season.
-
I'm also not the best reviewer but here goes for what I've watched so far:
The Good Place-pleasantly surprised! It was funny and had a plot that wasn't just a rehash of other shows. I'll stick with this one for at least the first season.
Designated Survivor-very good first episode. I knew I was going to like this initially just because I love 24 and Jack Bauer, but the show made me like it on its own merits. Judging from the season preview they showed at the end of the episode it will probably go down a slightly predictable plot line but I'm A-ok with that because they seem to be doing a good job.
Scream Queens (season two)-I love this show even though it's really not that great-ha! I had problems with season 1 as it got later in the season so I'm cautious, but the first episode of this season was good. Set up the characters, provided some backstory to what happened in between seasons, and the new characters should be funny (Stamos and Lautner)
NCIS:NO-I hadn't kept up with the news so I didn't know Brody wasn't coming back. I really don't like the new girl. Ugh. I'll stick with it a few more eps to see if she gets better.
On that same note, the new cast in regular NCIS are alright for now, I don't hate them.
(Mr. Robot finale was also on my watch list this week. I feel like I have no idea what is going on but at the same time love it)
-
[member=2434]rushfanyyz[/member] and [member=364]Angology[/member] You two have no idea how happy i am to hear you also like The Good Place- its cute, light fluff but original
I didn't know abt NCIS:NO..... oh my. I've been so focused on the new shows i haven't had a time to catch up on my second string returning shows. I did watch the flagship NCIS show & was ok with the casting.
i've done a ranking of the new shows on my weekly blog report, it'll be out tomorrow. i'll link to it here

i published my ratings for last weeks pilots in the weekly tv article
http://friendsofcc.com/2016/09/21/upcoming-week-in-tv-925-debates-pilot-ratings-luke-cage/
-
I suppose I should post here that I saw the pilot of Timeless at the panel at SDCC. It seemed like a good premise before I saw the show, but the pilot itself was just blah for me. I guess it was just a little too predictable, and I could easily see the way the show was going. They tried to set up an intriguing long-term plot, but it didn't draw me in. The romantic tension between the two leads felt a bit forced too. I'm hoping they punched it up a bit between SDCC and now, because I think the idea has potential.

Not sure where to put this, since its streaming, but this is great news:
Amazon Orders ‘The Tick,’ ‘I Love Dick,’ Jean-Claude Van Damme Comedies to Full Series:

I only watched the Tick, but I may check out the others.

Also known as the group of shows most likely to get mentioned on "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" this weekend.
So excited about the Tick. Still going to miss Patrick Warburton no matter how good Peter Serafinowicz is.
-
i may or may not have some exciting news to post guarding the Tick... & NYCC. There will be an Amazon vid panel with the tick
-
Tried watching Aftermath.
Not on my "recommend" list.
-
i'm slacking on my new shows...thanks tho- i'll let it stack up a bit
its very odd, i just tried to set up a season pass for Aftermath & channel zero. Channel zero is mia.... guessing it was pulled before it aired due to crappyness?
i did get to see the second ep of Bull- much better imo then the first ep
anyone catch ep 2 of Designated survivor, this is us, or Lethal Weapon?
-
I've watched episodes 1 & 2 of This Is Us and I LOVE it. There was a surprise at end of episode one that totally got me, and then again at the end of episode two! It reminds me of Parenthood in general feel, but not a copy of the show by any means. I'm already invested in all of the characters and they seem like real people and not just characters. I read that it got picked up for a full season and I'm stoked-it's become one of the shows that I watch first and I don't let it linger on my dvr.

They moved the premiere for Channel Zero to Oct 11th. Hopefully that's not bad news, I think they already had season 2 greenlit. Looking forward to something good and creepy.
Saw most of Lethal Weapon episode 2. Still think it's ok, but just that.
Liked episode 2 of Agents of SHIELD. Jason O'Mara is a good addition as Jeffrey Mace.
-
only had time for the first 20 min's of Designated survivor
yep it's as good as the first one- '
"there are no Dem or Rep's, we're all Americans today"
-
Watched both episodes of Westworld, I think it's going to be really really good. There's a comics connection as well, Ed Brubaker is one of the writers.
Supergirl season premiere was quite fun, so glad it's on CW now.
-
I'm off topic, but I'm marathoning Band of Brothers.
-
Vie Principals and Westworld. Soooo good.
-
Vie Principals and Westworld. Soooo good.
I'm telling myself I should let Westworld build up for a while on my dvr, but I don't think I'll be able to. The DC shows are taking up a lot of our time, and they are so much fun this season. The Flash needs to find its footing again (hah) but Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow are great cheesy fun so far. Even though I knew it would happen, I just about lost it when Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
.
The trailer for Legion looks great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SZ3rMMYBLY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SZ3rMMYBLY). Since it's for FX they even get to use the word mutant.
-
Lot of buzz on the Exorcist. May binge that to help pass the time before the election. Should be relaxing in comparison.
Has anyone heard any news about more Tick episodes? I need to know what other mittens evil wears. Tangentially, watched some Stan Against Evil and couldn't shake the sense that this is what Ash versus Evil Dead would be like in the Tick universe.
-
We checked out Stan Against Evil-very funny and scary at the same time. What do you guys think of it so far?
-

Watched the first 3. Like it a lot, but I think it suffers next to Ash vs Evil Dead. Planning to let Stan pile up on the DVR and watch them later.
-
i just caught the first ep of Mars on Nat Geo & Good Behavior on TNT
...
both are keepers for very different reasons
-
We checked out Stan Against Evil-very funny and scary at the same time. What do you guys think of it so far?
I was really excited for this, based on the teaser. But we watched the first 3 episodes last night and it fell flat for us. It was like it was trying too hard, and coming up short. Plus the episodic nature of the show (Which one of the 172 witches/demons will show up this week?) fell through for us. Honestly, I'm not sure we'll be watching any more.
-
Anyone watching Salem now that it's back? Don't know that I love the story line around Mary's "son", but it has been a satisfying return for me. Cotton has been entertaining this season so far (okay-I am biased, he is my favorite character). Looking forward to seeing more of Marilyn Manson's character.
Also, I know it's over now, but who watched American Horror Story this year? I loved it. More scary and less of the fluff. Although-it did get a little too heavy on the torture scenes-those were hard for me to watch. Overall though, I really enjoyed it.
I am still all in on Stan Against Evil. It may be that I like the lead actors (I am a big Scrubs fan) or that I haven't seen Ash vs. the Evil Dead, so it doesn't suffer in comparison for me. I don't mind monster of the week type shows, so maybe that's it.
One more thing-The Librarians returns on Sunday ay 8pm EST/7pm EST!!! It's always a nice shot of lighthearted nerdy goodness! Plus-Christian Kane! Luckily, it doesn't conflict with Westworld; I would hate to make that tough decision.
-
After last week's Westworld ep 7 , I need to re-watch the all the episodes again ;D
-
I have got to pick up HBO!
I've got to see when will be a good time to stop Starz... /sigh/

Making A Murderer - now that's an interesting one. Is it a new case to focus on? Or additional episodes to look at what has happened since the documentary's release?
-
Started watching Channel Zero and I'm really liking it.
-
really kinda sad the pumkin' chunkin' show and contest was canceled......
here will be no Punkin Chunkin program special this year.
Although set for a return after a two-year absence from television, the Thanksgiving holiday contest featuring teams of backyard engineers sending pumpkins flying thousands of feet into the air will not be shown after two people were injured during this year's event earlier in November.

WW is soooo good. Really like Blunt Talk as well.
What I really need now is for American Gods to start. Just reread the book recently, and even though I have not seen any footage or trailers at all it is impossible to not hear Ian McShane's voice when you ready his character's lines.

netflix did an odd thing with their recent drop of a new show, The OA. the announced it on Monday & dropped it on Friday, today.
its not on the weekly tv listings because of this.
some info i've been able to gather

Smashed through all ten episodes of season two of the Man In THE High Castle. Still a very strong show and this season is very interesting. Hope it gets renewed.

We watched Mars and loved it. It makes me even happier that we got those great t-shirts (which I already loved before the show, but love even more now) from the Nerd Nite party during SDCC.
One the new show frontier-Eric McCormack's new Netflix show Travelers will be available Friday, Dec 23. I am super excited to have more shows with him to watch, and that it's a SciFi type show-even better. DH and I loved Perception, and still miss it (I also miss Will & Grace), but have high hopes that this will be great. The trailer is on YouTube, but I am at work, and can't go to that site.

tonight is the return of Sherlock on PBS! Later on this week is Emerald City- i'm pretty excited about this one, even tho it's a bit more fantasy then i normally like. teh network took a different approach to it- we'll see if it pays out
there's a lot of show's returning this week.
here's the blog post write up on the upcoming week, http://www.friendsofcc.com/2017/01/01/week-in-tv-1229-sherlock-emerald-city-winter-premieres/

Sleepy Hollow is back with a vengeance! I know a lot of people are upset by what transpired in the season finale, but I am loving the possibilities of the new location (DC). For me, it's always been about Ichabod. The season premiere was great! (Okay-I am a little biased). We usually record Friday night shows, but I watch Sleepy Hollow live and tweet as much as possible!
-
I'm looking forward to season 2 of Voltron on Netflix (January 20)!

Quite a bit late on checking out this thread...
My favorites of the 2016-2017 season are or were WW, 12 Monkeys, Designated Survivor and Sleepy Hollow.
I too enjoy the location change in Sleepy Hollow. Even though the first 2017 episode makes me think of the X-Files and Fringe I still enjoy it especially as Lydie Greenwood's character is also returning.

Jenny's first appearance was great! The location shots in DC were well done too. I love the scenes with Ichabod in the foreground with some iconic landmark behind him. It did trend on twitter for a few moments, but I think that was just over-zealous fans. The ratings were apparently not great, but Fox has not been promoting it much, it's on Friday, and was up against a series premiere. I am just going to enjoy it while it lasts, and hope for the best (and tweet like crazy, just in case...)

Yes on Fox not promoting Sleepy Hollow. Still, there was a panel at the SDCC last year. I only caught it by accident when I also caught by accident the 2017 return episode of Grimm.

Flaming dog butts! I completely forgot. Have to watch either On Demand or on my phone... >:( >:( >:( >:(

Anybody started Series of Unfortunate Events yet? So far everything I've heard about it has been gushingly positive, and in direct contradiction to the author's repeated warnings. Would start it today but just about to start a scary movie binge.

Sigh! Wanted to binge season 1 before, so I could watch live. Maybe this weekend...
I know I will like it! Just so many good shows out there.
We are loving Travelers so far.
-
I binged all of A Series of Unfortunate Events yesterday and really enjoyed it! I liked the books when I was younger and from what I can remember stayed pretty true to them. The season covers the first four books and each book is split into two episodes. Neil Patrick Harris is great, Jim Carey in the movie was too....Jim Carey...Neil Patrick Harris IS Olaf. I found some people complaining online about the explained jokes/words and the narrator, but that is how the books were like. The show keeps the same style as the books, and in my opinion does it very well.
-
I will have to check out Unfortunate Events. I just finished season 2 of Man in the High Castle and a new program I caught on Hulu called Beyond. Has anyone else see Beyond? The way it starts it reminded me of Flight of the Navigator, but instead of being transported to the future the main character Holden wakes up after being in a coma for 12 years and discovers he has abilities he didn't have before and while he was in the coma his mind traveled (not going to spoil it) Overall, I enjoyed it and look forward to season 2 which it has already been renewed for.
-
We started watching Series of Unfortunate Events yesterday and are through 2 episodes. I like it! I've downloaded Man in the High Castle to watch on the plane on a trip next week, yay! I watched the premiere of Colony and am keeping up with The Affair and Vikings. TV viewing is getting busy!

Completely agree. Watching Series of Unfortunate Events right now and need to watch premiere of Colony when I'm done . But yes, it's getting hard to keep up .

I had no idea he was in that. Just watched the trailer-add this to the shows that I hope to get a chance to check out!

If you are stuck home due to storms, or just need something to watch, NBC's The Good Place is worth a binge. I really recommend staying away from spoilers if at all possible. Trust me :)

Samurai Jack, new season starts March 11. :o :) :o ;D

January continues to impress with a couple of new entries this week, the anticipated Riverdale on The CW and the reality show Hunted on CBS. Riverdale has an air of a mature teen crime drama done right and is getting positive early reviews. Hunted (based on UK series of the same name) is a reality-based competition where the contestants are fugitives who attempt to evade capture for a cash prize. It feels like a cross of The Amazing Race and the SWAT Team, it could be interesting if you have ever thought about bugging out.

I just caught Hunted.... pass /sigh/ the quality of contestants was abysmal ....

anybody catch the cw's winter premiere's
supergirl, flash, legion & arrow? what'd you think?
-
I watched Supergirl and The Flash (although, I was working, so I didn't really pay full attention). I am still enjoying Supergirl. They mentioned The Music Meister, so they are setting the groundwork for the musical crossover. Arrow is on my DVR (we watch Lethal Weapon live-we like it that much). Legends is also on my DVR (I think that's what you mean-Legion has not started yet)
To me, the Flash has gotten a little convoluted, but the cast is still likeable.
Sort of related-Lucifer has been awesome this season!
Great sadness for me this week-the series finale for Salem. The last season was good, but seemed a little rushed. Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
I had fun tweeting about it with other Salem fans. I still wonder about the scene where John Alden was blacksmithing shirtless. Seems kind of dangerous-that's molten metal and your bare skin! There was a lot of twitter fun with that.
Watched Riverdale. It kept me interested. I do love that they have Josie and the Pussycats. I have a question-aren't sophomores 15 years old or so? I am so old that I am probably out of touch with what age you are in what grade. 15 seems kind of young, but again, I am out of touch. Or is Archie older than Betty?
Oh, and I know I sound like a broken record, but Sleepy Hollow is still bringing it. I am not completely sold on the Lex Luthoresque baddie, but love that they brought back the Headless Horseman. John Noble will be back in next week's episode (in what appears to be a dream sequence/other dimension). I also love what they are doing with the witness thing. All in all, it has been a strong season so far. We are dedicated to watching it live, and I try to stay active on Twitter during the show (it has trended briefly a couple of times-except on inauguration day).
Looking forward to Powerless next week.

15-16 sounds about right for a sophomore.
Still need to catch up on the DC shows, I did like the latest Agents of Shield though.

Thanks for the update! I watch Legends (yes i did mean that, not legion) & arrow when i get a chance- i just haven't been able to sustain intereste in SG or Flash- too many other really good shows on.

I dont think the network was carried by enough cable/dish/networks- to really get a following- I know if was off my radar due to the WGN not being on Time Warner cable.

it kinda has a highly stylized Twin Peaks vibe..... i think folks will/are really liking it- judging from what i read on twitter. a couple of the characters are watchable jughead, veronica for example. confession, i never liked veronica in teh comics. I think [member=314]Transmute Jun[/member] will be writing & publishing a blog post later on today (or tomorrow) abt riverdale.
Looking forward to Powerless next week.
that looks fun. I'm also really looking forward to Superior Donuts staring Judd Hirsch opposite new comer stand up comedian Jermaine Fowler. the clips i've seen are lol funny. It's airing after BBT & seems like a really good fit.

Agree with you on Supergirl, The Flash, Legends and Lucifer. I haven't seen a episode of Lethal Weapon yet. Maybe soon. I missed Salem as Frontier FIOS does not have WGN on demand. Grrrr...
I also watched Riverdale. I went to Inglewood High School which back in the 60's was a four year high school. I graduated when I was 17 so yes, sophmores are 15 years old. I found interesting how some of the characters have been changed since I last read the Archie comics back in the 60's. Miss Grundy especially. :o
Also agree with you about Sleepy Hollow. John Nobel looks so craggy now!
-
Well we all know I'm in love with Flash, Super Girl, Arrow and I like DC legends a lot. My heart was filled with Glee (pun intended for the crossover) to have them back.
This week I spent the week binge watching Sweet Vicious, which apparently was at SDCC and NYCC. I really enjoyed it, warning though it deals with a sensitive subject. They just wrapped up the season (leave it to me to find a show it's very last week) so you can't watch them on MTV.
I got bored of Salem and stopped watching it.
Um no clue what Riverdale is but someone said Josie in the Pussycats so I will be watching it today! I love that movie.

Finished watching Salem last night. Such a frustrating show. At times its bang on the money and others it goes off on tangents loosing focus of the actual witch trials.
Overall I enjoyed it but will I watch it again? Doubtful.

Finally caught up with the DC shows, still liking them, especially when they're just trying for fun. The latest Legends of Tomorrow was a great episode I thought, with a young George Lucas as a character.
Wanted to catch up on The Expanse but seems I have missed my window with Comcast, have to go the DVD route.
Santa Clarita Diet in 4 days, and first episode of Legion the day after :)

wow, maybe they've taken it off netflix.... the license may have ended.
ALLERT: DUE TO THE PREZ TALKING TONIGHT @8PM (ET?) the big 4 MAY have delayed programing. The CW may also delay programing too.
this would effect
AoS, The flash, Ledgens of Time, Bull, NCDS, Bones, The Wall, The middle, New Girl....etc all... you get the idea.

I think it was only streaming on Netflix outside the US. Amazon Prime has The Expanse streaming rights in the US.

Today I made it through 6 episodes of Man in the High Castle, Season 2. Whew! Four to watch tomorrow. Then on to Season 1 of The Expanse so I'll be able to watch Season 2.
Also kept up with The Affair, which just finished Season 3. And for some reason I'm still watching Homeland. So far it is keeping my interest, I like the addition of Elizabeth Marvel as the president-elect.

I actually thought the latest Flash episode was amusing, ha ha. The interactions of "Team Flash" with Tom Felton's Julian character are funny (and fun to watch).
Missing something like the part about Teri Hatcher playing Lois Lane back in the '90s and that Dean Cain (former TV version of Superman and Hatcher's "Lois and Clark" co-star) is already in a few episodes of the Supergirl show? ^__~

I shouldn't be too critical, it's such a fun show. I think I'm starting to get annoyed at all of the standing around they do in the fight scenes. But the Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
was great.
But Desperate Housewives??? Better than mentioning Tango & Cash I suppose.

It does seem odd that they would mention Desperate Housewives, and not Lois & Clark.
Now to switch gears: Lucifer was great so far this season, but doesn't come back until May. I hear it is because they have to film the rest of the season. Originally, only 13 were ordered, but Fox ordered a full season, so they have to do the additional episodes. I hope the long break doesn't mean people will forget (I won't!!)

Oh no! I hope it's somewhere nice.
Legion finally starts tonight and I know I will be absurdly upset that I can only watch 1 episode and not binge the whole season.
Also saw that, in a continuing effort to completely overload our nostalgia receptors, Netflix has announced a Magic School Bus series AND a Castlevania one. Really surprised at that last one.

Was originally planning to watch 24 after the superbowl, but decided I couldn't handle any more drama. Figure I'll let it build a while and then binge if the reviews are still good.
Have watched episode 1 of Legion like 4 times. Especially love the escape sequence at the end. My wife watched it once and liked it, even though she rarely goes for the comics/scifi/etc series. She was a big Downton Abbey fan and halfway through the episode she recognized Dan Stevens, sat up and, as if he was there in the room, said "Matthew? "Matthew!"
Can't believe I have to wait 2 more days for episode 2 ::)
There were a few details about the upcoming Castlevania series in Warren Ellis's newsletter:
"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.
That is the official Netflix press release. it is incomplete, but that's all there is for now, and I've been asked not to say more. So I can't say more about structure, tone, or the amazing voice cast we somehow managed to gather.
But my co-producer and diamond geezer Adi Shankar has said some more about it at this link here, giving additional details."
Here's the link he mentions http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/02/08/netflix-announces-castlevania-animated-series (http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/02/08/netflix-announces-castlevania-animated-series) basically, the show will follow Castlevania III Dracula's Curse and be a hard R. Ellis is already working on season 2.
-
If Castlevania is anything like the computer games then season two will never be beaten and will leave fans frustrated beyond belief. ;)

LEGION
I watched Ep 1 while Ep 2 taped, and then watched Ep 2. I need to go back and watch them both again. Really enjoying it so far!! The 2nd episode was so different from the first. And I didn't even recognize Syd as the girl from the recent season of Fargo, excellent acting.
I'm almost up to date on The Expanse, too.

Busy guy gets... busier:
http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/talking-dead-spinoff-chris-hardwick-1201999983/
‘Talking Dead’ Spinoff With Chris Hardwick Set at AMC
AMC is expanding “The Walking Dead” aftershow “Talking Dead” into a year-round talk franchise. The cable channel announced Wednesday “Talking With Chris Hardwick,” a new hour-long talk show that will air at 11 p.m. on Sunday nights - specifically Sunday nights when new episodes of “The Walking Dead” or “Fear the Walking Dead” are not airing. On evenings when they are, Hardwick’s long-running aftershow “Talking Dead” will air instead.
Each hour-long episode of “Talking” will feature Hardwick interviewing a single guest or cast. Unlike “Talking Dead,” which focuses on the “Walking Dead” universe, “Talking” will feature guests from across pop culture.
“Chris Hardwick is just the ultimate fan guide, advocate and conversationalist. He took our desire to serve the fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ with an hour of discussion and analysis following each new episode and turned it into the #1 talk show on television, and a model that has been widely emulated but never quite duplicated, because Chris is the key,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “Between ‘Talking Dead,’ his podcast and panel moderation at events like Comic-Con, there is just no one better at drawing out guests’ humanity, celebrating content and serving fans. We are looking forward to expanding our relationship with Chris through this new version of ‘Talking’ that will allow him to do what he does best — give our viewers a front row seat to some of the biggest topics in pop culture today and a host who has an incomparable affinity for the content they love.”
Hardwick also hosts the late-night game show “@midnight” weeknights on Comedy Central.
“‘Talking’ will have the skin of ‘Talking Dead,’ the soul of the Nerdist podcast and the guts of a Comic Con panel,” said Hardwick. “I have loved learning how to do a talk show these last six years on ‘Talking Dead,’ but am eager to expand the format into other areas of pop culture.”

Big Little Lies, too. I didn't read the book so can't compare the two.

Haven't seen ep 4 yet, stuck at a conference for work. (Which is obviously not that interesting right now since I'm posting away in the forum instead of listening to the talks. Don't think I can get away with streaming Legion unfortunately.)
Didn't realize Big Little Lies was a book, probably good not to have read it given the way the story is structured. I know there was something on Australian TV, is that the same version or a different one?

The author of the book is Australian, and the HBO show is airing there now. I think it is on the same schedule as the airings in the U.S.

Saw some of the first pics for the DC Music Meister crossover :)
Seen a lot of criticism about this season of the CW shows but am still enjoying them, watched the last episode of Flash after a rough day at work and sure, a lot of things didn't make much sense, but we got a Luke Starkiller name drop and Grodd and an army of gorillas attacking Central City. Works for me.

NBC's summer schedule:

Not too much nerdiness, but I am happy for the return of The Night Shift.
Midnight, Texas starts up July 25, based on Charlaine Harris' bestselling book series. I may have to check this one out.
Chris Hardwick continues his path to TV World domination-his game show The Wall will air over the summer.

http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-tv-pilots-spring-2017-2017-3/#oasis-5
"The Legend of Master Legend"
Length: 30 minutes
Amazon Description: "The Legend of Master Legend" is a dark comedy about the life of Frank Lafount, a.k.a. Master Legend - a homemade superhero whose mission is to protect the people of Las Vegas from evildoers. Master Legend juggles the demands of justice with the even more complicated demands of his real family, who don’t see him as a hero at all.
"Budding Prospects"
Length: 30 minutes
Amazon Description: In 1983, three hapless city boys move from their comfort zone of the San Francisco counter-culture to Mendacino to grow marijuana. Their expectations of the experience being a back-to-the-land, nurturing adventure in a beautiful rustic setting run up against the harsh truth prior to their arrival at "The Summer Camp" — a miserably run-down shanty out in the middle of nowhere, where they are bedeviled by rats, snakes, mosquitoes, and harsh, unfriendly growing conditions, noisy neighbors, dangerous locals, and menacing law enforcement. The pilot stars Adam Rose ("Veronica Mars"), Joel David Moore ("Bones"), Will Sasso ("MADtv") and Brett Gelman ("Fleabag").
"The New V.I.P.’s"
The show stars Ben Schwartz
Length: 30 minutes
Amazon Description: Amazon’s first adult animated comedy show, "The New V.I.P.’s" follows a group of low-level employees who seize control of a major corporation after accidentally murdering their boss. The pilot stars Matt Braunger ("Agent Carter"), Ben Schwartz ("Parks and Recreation"), Missi Pyle ("Gone Girl") and Jonathan Adams (Last Man Standing).
"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"
Length: Hour
Amazon Description: It’s 1958 Manhattan and Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan, "House of Cards") has everything she’s ever wanted - the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent - one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy…a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.
"Oasis"
Length: Hour
Amazon Description: Based on the cult-hit novel The Book of Strange New Things from Michel Faber, "Oasis" follows a chaplain (Richard Madden, "Game of Thrones") who is sent into space to help establish a colony on a distant planet. What he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test, but life as we know it.
I want to check out Oasis-it looks very promising. I watched "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" yesterday, and it was, as the title says marvelous! I hope it gets picked up. Since "The Legend of Master Legend" is only 30 minutes, I may give it a try. I haven't filled out the survey yet-I want to watch the ones I am interested in first.

If it hadn't been for two small children busting into their dad's BBC interview, the Supergirl/Flash musical would be the funnest thing I've seen so far this year.

Ha, love it!
A little off topic, but if you have Turner Classic Movies, they are showing a big marathon of classic monster/horror films, mostly from the 30s and 40s. The original King Kong is on now ;D

Oh, a lot of us have been there ;)
Right now enjoying The Thing from Another World. (It amuses me that John Carpenter was 3 years old when this came out.) If anyone and their DVR isn't on this already it's not too late for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu, the original Cat People, the first Hammer Horror Dracula film, plus the original Frankenstein, Mummy and Wolf Man.
I'd say I'm totally not geeking out right now, but you all know better.

We stuck around and watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Seen Thing from Another Planet many times so went to bed. Yep, Carpenter loved that one. In addition to The Thing, he paid homage to it in Halloween too.

I had hoped to catch up on Star Wars Rebels today, been hearing good things. But TCM is still making it impossible. Right now the the first Pink Panther is on, then Arsene Lupin (1932), The Haunting (1963) and the completely insane Japanese movie House (1977.)
What's the word on the new 24? Worth getting into assuming TCM gives me a break?

Not a shocker. I have been enjoying the show, but it is definitely hit or miss with the jokes, It needs to be more 'hit' and less 'miss' to succeed.

So I find it interesting that both 'Inhumans' and 'Agents of Shield' will be on Friday night. That is usually not a good time slot for any tv series. Although, AoS being on at 10pm for this current season is no good, too. I'm guessing ABC is betting on the DVR folks more for these two shows. Overall, I'm meh on this move to Friday. It feels like ABC doesn't fully support these two. But yet, they do cancel a show that has high ratings so whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Btw, the new season of AoS will premier after S1 of 'Inhumans'.

http://screenrant.com/gillian-anderson-done-x-files-season-11/
The X-Files star Gillian Anderson revealed Sunday that the upcoming 11th season of the hit sci-fi series will be her last. Fans were elated in 2016 when David Duchovny and Anderson’s FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully got back on the case for a six-part X-Files revival — a long-awaited 10th season after the show’s initial series run from 1993 to 2002.
Naturally, the success of the revival immediately got talks in motion for an 11th season, which Duchovny and Anderson started shooting in August, along with the return of Mitch Pileggi (as FBI assistant director Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man), as well as Tom Braidwood, Bruce Harwood and Dean Haglund (the conspiracy theory trio The Lone Gunmen).
But in an interview session with outlets including Screen Rant at New York Comic-Con Sunday, Anderson said that she will not be returning to the series after season 11. Here’s how Anderson’s planned exit was revealed during a reporter roundtable:
Are you still open to continuing on beyond this season?
Gillian Anderson: No, no, I think this will be it for me.
So, why did you want to do this season?
Gillian Anderson: Because it felt like it wasn’t over. It didn’t feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.
How much will you miss her if this is really it for you?
Gillian Anderson: I don’t know. You may need to talk to me in a few years about that once I finally shut the door. You know, there’s always been this “maybe one more” thing hanging over, but when the door is finally shut, call me up and ask me that question again.
Anderson’s revelations will surely come as a shock to longtime fans of the series, who will be treated to 10 episodes this year, an increase of four shows over the revival. Whether Anderson’s exit departure from the series after season 11 was in the plans all along is yet to be seen, which we’ll no doubt find out more about in interviews with Anderson, Duchovny and creator Chris Carter as the series nears its mid-2018 premiere.
Gillian Anderson in The X Files Season 10 Episode 6 Exclusive: Gillian Anderson is Finished After X Files Season 11
No matter the case, Anderson’s reveal Sunday does seem to change the significance of the announcement in August that Annabeth Gish, FBI Agent Monica Reyes in season 8 and 9, would also reprise her role for at least one episode; and that Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose — who were introduced as FBI Special Agents Miller and Einstein, respectively, in season 10 — would be back for season 11. Add the fact that Barbara Hershey has joined season 11 to play a mysterious character, and it’s completely within reason to guess that the four actors could help usher in a new era for The X-Files, should the show proceed with a 12th season.
While there have been rumblings of Anderson’s exit from The X-Files dating back to the end of the series’ initial run, the actress’ decision this time to leave the series this time around could possibly go beyond delivering “everything the fans were expecting.” After all, Anderson was very critical of the announcement that the season 11 writers room didn’t include any female scribes (and she also tweeted out that only two of the 207 X-Files episodes were directed by women).
Unless Anderson has a change of heart before season 11’s premiere in a few months, fans can maybe find solace in the wiggle room she seemingly left in her NYCC press session. By saying, “Talk to me in a few years about that once I finally shut the door” and “there’s always been this ‘maybe one more’ thing hanging over,” it almost seems to convey that the door to a return is cracked open, if only a little bit.

Can't wait to see the Star Trek themed Black Mirror episode.
Watched the first 2 episodes of Happy on SyFy. Not for everyone but if you are wanting something in the space carved out by Preacher and Ash v Evil Dead, it's right in there.

Another new show, new for me at least. Dark on Netflix. I'm only 4 episodes in but so far it's Stranger Things meets Lost meets I don't know what, it's great. My only complaint is that every episode Netflix defaults the setting to English dubbing which is awful and I have to switch it to English subtitles and German audio.
Also, Dead or Alive! Just what you need to get xmas songs out of your head.

I actually have the Doctor Who marathon on in the background right now :) There's a 3 Stooges marathon on New Year's eve I'm looking forward too. And I'm thinking the SyFy disaster movie marathon will be on for part of xmas at least.
As for unofficial marathons, have the recent Samurai Jack episodes to watch and also want to rewatch Tartakovsky's Star Wars cartoons, found those dvds at a library sale recently. Need to watch season 2 of The Good Place. And people at work are insisting I watch Deadwood and Norsemen.
Black Mirror drops the 29th? But that's going to be more of a sip than a binge. And waiting for the last Runaways episode to air so I can get Hulu going and watch it and Handmaid's Tale.

So, are you Team Matt or Team Steve? >:D

I was Team Steve at first, but I don't want CJ or Matt to get hurt, so now I'm conflicted. I loved the original too and I appreciate that they captured the heart and warmth of that show but still keep it fresh. I could do without Joey's kids, though.

I don’t mind Joey’s kids as much as Joey. He was the one part of the show I always thought was lame.
I’m Team Matt. I always thought Steve was a goof and now he doesn’t Even have the cool hair to recommend him. ;-). Plus, Steve’s obssession with Deejay is creepy...

I am also dipping into the Doctor Who marathon whenever I need a pick me up (aka when I get tired of watching the news...)
Travelers!!! Drops on December 26, so we will watch as many as we can on that day.
Need to get caught up on This Is Us and The Middle.
We will also be binging Shannara Chronicles. Since they put it up against Mr. Robot, we haven't gotten around to watching it. We watched the first episode to make sure we were still into it, and we are.

https://www.newsarama.com/38128-tnt-greenlights-snowpiercer-first-season.html
TNT has greenlit a full season of the live-action Snowpiercer series following the filming of a pilot in late 2017, according to Variety. Based on the OGN Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette, the TV Snowpiercer will star Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, and Mickey Sumner. It's dovetailing off the successful Snowpiercer movie from 2013.
“I’m a personal fan of Bong Joon Ho’s epic film, and jumped at the chance to honor his original vision, yet expand upon the world and characters with a diverse, award-winning cast,” said TNT's Executive VP of Original Programming, Sarah Aubrey. “Science fiction is the perfect genre to examine issues of race, class, gender and natural resources with thought-provoking and exciting storytelling. Snowpiercer will explore those relevant issues while embarking on a wild, action-filled ride.”
No debut date for Snowpiercer has been given.

http://deadline.com/2018/01/walking-dead-renewed-showrunner-scott-m-gimple-out-angela-kang-amc-1202242543/
There is going to be more of the same with The Walking Dead, a big change and potentially more of the zombie apocalypse.
Unsurprisingly, blockbuster TWD has been renewed for a ninth season by AMC but the series based on Robert Kirkman’s comics will have a new showrunner. Long time TWD writer Angela Kang is taking over from Scott M. Gimple with the latter shifted over to a newly designated Chief Content Officer of the mothershow, its Fear The Walking Dead spinoff and as yet unspecified “potential brand extensions on a variety of platforms.”
“This is an enormously important day for the entire The Walking Dead television universe,” said AMC boss Charlie Collier today. “We are proud to acknowledge Angela’s significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott’s broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our TWD universe,” he add of the third ex-showrunner of the series. “Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before. I know I speak for Angela, Scott and everyone at AMC when I say thanks most of all to the fans and the many talented people who have helped AMC play Dead.”
Unlike original TWD showrunner Frank Darabont and his replacement Glen Mazzara, Gimple clearly wasn’t canned from the series, which has had further declining ratings this season so far. In fact, today’s announcement saw some seeds planted last year when Gimple was named an executive producer on FearTWD, which will see a crossover with TWD later this year.
“The Walking Dead is a special show which started in an entirely different era of TV, and continues, in this new era, to confidently take chances to tell compelling stories that excite audiences and make them deeply connect with its characters, adapting Robert Kirkman’s brilliant comic book,” the soon to be ex-TWD showrunner said in a statement on Saturday. “As the show closes in on its tenth year, I’m honored to keep working with the talented, dedicated people behind and in front of the camera to make it all it can be, while expanding the world of The Walking Dead with new narratives like Fear the Walking Dead and a whole host of truly cool stories ahead. Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of The Walking Dead, and I’m thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show’s next era.”
Unlike Darabont and Mazzara, as well as EPs Gale Anne Hurd and others and Kirkman himself, the Gimple is not currently suing AMC over profits from the lucrative franchise. The EP has come under fire of late from some fans for the direction the series, especially the upcoming death of the Chandler Riggs portrayed Carl Grimes character that ended the Season 8 fall finale on December 10.
Also playing tribute to Kirkman, which everyone involved with TWD seems contractually bound to do, the first female showrunner of the Andrew Lincoln led series took a fangirl approach in her remarks.
“I am beyond thrilled to be stepping into this new role with The Walking Dead, declared Kang, who has been a writer on the show for the past seven years. “Working on this series and having the opportunity to adapt Robert Kirkman’s amazing comic has been a fangirl dream come true for me,” she added “I’m excited to continue working with Scott and the wonderfully supportive folks at AMC, and can’t wait to share the next chapter of the story with our fans next fall.
The ninth season of The Walking Dead is set to debut in the fall of this year with Season 8 returning from its winter break next month to see the Carl character played by Riggs, who was one of the original actors on the series, meet his end die to a walker bite.

"Creative differences" ::)
http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/snowpiercer-showrunner-josh-friedman-tnt-parts-ways-exclusive-1202672183/
TNT has parted ways with Josh Friedman, the showrunner of the TV adaptation of “Snowpiercer,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Friedman was an executive producer on the project and wrote the pilot, which was shot last year. “Snowpiercer” was ordered to series by TNT earlier this month. A source close to the network cited creative differences as the reason.
The series, based on the 2014 Bong Joon Ho film, takes place seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centers on a small band of people who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. Jennifer Connelly stars as Melanie Cavill, an important first-class passenger and leader who is fascinated by the less fortunate riders on the train. The “Snowpiercer” cast also includes Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Lena Hall.
Friedman had a great deal of experience adapting genre properties for TV: He was the showrunner of the 2008-2009 Fox drama “Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles” and an executive producer of NBC’s “Emerald City.” His film credits include “Avatar 2” and “War of the Worlds.”
“Snowpiercer” is a co-production of Tomorrow Studios and Turner’s Studio T, along with CJ Entertainment. The pilot was directed by Scott Derrickson (“Doctor Strange”), and the series is executive produced by Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, as well as Bong Joon Ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.

Caught the 1st episodes of Counterpart and Mosaic. Both look like they'll be great but I'm thinking I'll let them queue up a while so I can binge them. Mosaic even had a trivial but welcome discussion of MÅ“bius, and who would have guessed how well Sharon Stone and Paul Reubens would work together?
The Mosaic app sounds really interesting too, but not certain if I want to wait until after the series to try it?

https://www.newsarama.com/38337-joanne-walley-cast-as-daredevil-s-mother-sister-maggie.html
Willow alum Joanne Whalley has been cast as Sister Maggie Murdock for the third season of Netflix's Daredevil, according to Deadline. Maggie was name-dropped in the final moments of Defenders following Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox)'s almost-lethal injuries. “We are big fans of Joanne’s work and are fortunate that someone of her caliber will be joining our already talented family,” said Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb. “Joanne is a rare talent and a terrific creative collaborator,” added incoming showrunner Erik Oleson. “Watching her bring her role to life has the writers all pinching ourselves.”

Yeah, looks promising! Looking forward to seeing how they do in adapting the book, which had what I thought was a great blend of scifi and hardboiled detective storytelling but also had some things that I think would be problematic to film.
On a personal note, I think I am finally at the point where I won't confuse James Purefoy with Thomas Jane. It's taken me a while.

Looking forward to all of these but I am insanely excited about Gormenghast, the original trilogy is one of my favorites. I can't imagine Good Omens being anything less than brilliant with that cast.

I was able to watch it early through comcast, I didn't realize you could. Then I watched Westworld twice :)
-
We watched Ash in the morning, then at 6 pm (East coast time) we watched Fear, then watched Westworld on HBO's app, then rejoined AMC for Talking Dead Live.
It was a big TV day...

For us, too, but we were catching up from everything we recorded during the week. With Infinity War, and a garage sale on Saturday, we were busy last week in the evenings.
Is anyone watching Instinct or Deception? We are enjoying both of those (I like Deception more). And Timeless has been great this season!

Was reading through the Animation Magazine news posts, and saw this:
‘Daria’ Reboot in the Works on MTV Studio Slate
http://www.animationmagazine.net/tv/daria-reboot-in-the-works-on-mtv-studio-slate/
I am cautiously optimistic.
The article also mentions: The studio previously announced a live-action series of Aeon Flux, to be executive produced by Jeff Davis (Teen Wolf) and Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead).
Will definitely check that out.

From https://deadline.com/2018/08/the-big-bang-theory-end-run-12-seasons-final-season-cbs-1202450437/
The Big Bang Theory is going out on top. Despite recent remarks by CBS that it was in talks for more seasons of the highly-rated series, the network, producing studio Warner Bros. TV and executive producer Chuck Lorre just announced that the comedy will end its run in May 2019 with its upcoming 12th season. The Big Bang Theory still will rank as the longest-running multi-camera series in television history, spanning 12 seasons and a record-breaking 279 episodes.
“We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close,” WBTV, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions said in a joint statement.
The final season of The Big Bang Theory will debut Monday, September 24 on CBS before moving to its regular time period on Thursday, September 27.

Wow. I'm sorry to see it go, but I understand from a storyline perspective. There's only so far that they can take it.

I watched the first episode of FBI, it was pretty good. Most of it was "spoiled" by the original preview during upfronts, so I'm interested in seeing the second episode. Also Sela Ward will be in the cast moving forward.
I also really enjoyed the first episode of A Million Little Things. It has a lot of Comic Con alums in it, James Roday from Psych, Nick Giuntoli from Grimm, and Grace Park. A really solid cast, and the first episode hit me in the feels. (Warning that it deals with suicide and may be triggering for people who have struggled with depression or have a loved one that they lost to suicide)
For returning shows, I really enjoyed the first episodes back for The Good Place and 911. Excited for Superstore to come back next week!
-
thx for the feedback on a million little things- I've set it to record. i'm not big on the contrived drama's but if it's good i'll give it a shot
- I'm also going to catch an ep of Murphy brown- just to see if it still has the edge it did 10 years ago.
- Manifest had good reviews + i like the time travel twist.
- The Neighborhood- well, i hate sitcoms but i really like folks that are optimistic- it'll be interesting to see which side wins LOL I'm betting on the 'hate sitcom's to win out but I'll give the show an ep.
-
Manifest has so much potential.

Alyssa, you should look into getting a roku or fire stick. That way you can use your TV but still watch things from the internet (in this case, the NBC app). I haven't had traditional cable for almost 2 years, but I still watch everything on my TV

yeah- i've got issue with my landlords wifi- it's wide open so i'm kinda tied to my phone's unlimited data until i can get him up locked down. Verizon service is less then optimal ;)
-
Hey are folks interested in a poll for decent (i'll watch the 2nd /3rd episode) on new show?
Like
Turned off
i turned The cool kids off after 10 min's
i'll stick around for ep 2 of
God Friended Me (it's not preachy so far). it's kinda like a softer Person of Interest. I like happy stories
FBI (typical law&order feel)

So what's everyone watching? I want to get into some good shows this season. Not sure where to start. I haven't kept up with anything in the last year or so except Supernatural and The Walking Dead
I want to watch a real good scifi show. I loved the 100 but missed this last season.
-
I just read that Designated Survivor was picked up by Netflix. I only watched a few episodes, but I did like what I saw. Nice that Netflix is giving it a chance.
I am enjoying Manifest, it's getting more and more interesting.
9-1-1 is still great. I don't have an explanation, I just like it. I miss Connie Britton a little, but at least Angela Bassett is still there, and she is awesome.
I did not catch God Friended Me, but I want to check it out.
Lethal Weapon-I have mixed feelings. It definitely isn't the same without Clayne, but I am going to give it a couple more episodes. I really like the actress that plays the wife (Keisha Sharp?). I miss the old main lineup though. Sigh...
DH is watching The Last Ship. At least they are actually the last ship this season, lol. So much gunfire...
I am enjoying American Horror Story-mostly because of Kathy Bates.
Also watching The Gifted-still pretty good.
-
Manifest, Gifted, American Horror Story for now. God Friended Me for a few more episodes

I'm not sure if this falls into the 'Fall' category, but we are enjoying The Purge.

I watched the pilot when it aired but I lost track of the series. I’ll have to check it out on demand if it’s good. The pilot was serviceable: didn’t blow me away, but also didn’t turn me off. Pilots and early eps of series are typically fairly week as showrunners, writers, and actors are finding their footing. “The Purge” pilot felt like a lot of setup, which is obviously what’s necessary. I’ll hopefully have time to catch up with it by Thanksgiving week.

If you’re not watching “The Good Place” you’re missing out on one of the smartest, most consistently funny shows on TV. Both the first two seasons are on Netflix and the new season is only a couple of episodes in.
“Maniac” on Netflix is pretty awesome: surreal, trippy, but a good watch.

Has anyone watched The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix yet? I binged it this weekend. I didn't love the first episode, but I'm glad a I kept with it because starting with episode 2 I thought it got really good. It's a good binge (I thought the ending could have used some work, though)

The first episode was definitely setup. The series follows a group of people through Purge night. I like the character development and that it's not just all hack and slash and shock value. It actually looks at how 'normal' people might react to having a Purge in their town. Now that's not to say that I like all of the characters, but I can understand most of their motivations.

Wow, guess I'm convincing... ;)
For my son, an added factor is that he wears one of his collection of Purge shirts while watching. We waited for 2 hours to get into Purge City at SDCC and picked up 4 different shirts...
-
Wow, guess I'm convincing... ;)
Ha; you convinced me too! Unfortunately I'm in the middle of HS marching band season so my TV-watching time is extremely limited (and, in October, most of my free/TV watching time is spent watching horror movies :P - I guess The Purge could technically fall into that category, huh)
-
Oh Legends of Tomorrow, I love you.

in case folks didn't catch this weeks Next Week in TV article ;)

Oh Legends of Tomorrow, I love you.
Definitely! And the addition of Constantine makes it even better!
The panel at Dragon Con was so fun. Victor Garber talked about how he left the show to rest and relax (and for Broadway), but now he wants the option to come back (they do have a time ship, so why not). I thought that was sweet.
-
any one else catch the rookie? it's on my must watch short list for new shows. i may or may not swoon a bit over Nathan ;)
i also have been watching a fair amount of the Comet channel- it's kinda like MeTV except for scifi shows- they've got stargate, babylon 5 and space 1999 line up every evening- it's a nice low stress watch LOL
it's ota here in San diego but might be on some cable providers
-

I caught The Rookie. I too really enjoy watching Nathan Fillion. By the way, did you catch Nathan as Nathan Drake from the Uncharted short film? It looks like a good show, I liked the pilot, but I liked the 2nd episode even more. I'll be watching the 3rd ep tonight. :-)
-
If you like Nathan Fillion, be sure to watch Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix... ;)

It's on my list. We're planning to get Netflix for a month right after Christmas, and I'll see it then. I saw the first episode at NYCC and it was great!

I watched the first 2 episodes. I couldn't get into it. And I was sad because I was REALLY looking forward to it. But I just didn't like it at all.

I'm having a difficult time getting into it too. I think for me, it's because I was such a fan of the 90s version.

A trailer for season 6 of Agents of Shield dropped today. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DrAZA39RiHk
Looks like the season should start around July.

Bit of a random tv show comment, we're big Counterpart fans and highly recommend it. But even if you don't want to start on a new series (and you have Starz) there is a standalone episode this season called "Twin Cities" which just by itself is a great hour of scifi.

Ack. Hopefully it'll get picked up, it's a really strong show.

Anyone else catch the premiere of Miracle Workers on TBS last night? It stars Steve Buscemi as God, who decides he doesn't want to deal with earth anymore. Daniel Radcliffe plays someone who works in the Department of Answered Prayers and specializes in missing objects. It was really funny, can't wait to see where they go with it

I didn't watch it either, I did though watch A Discovery of Witches on AMC last night.

I've got you all covered, we watched 7 episodes yesterday, plus the season premiere :)
Makes for some weird dreams.
Now need to give some time to some other shows like The Tick and Ultraman.

I feel like I was like that all week. Every time I turned the TV on there was an episode of GOT on and and I sat and watched no matter where in the time the episode happened to be.

Is all of Good Omens being released today, or just 1 episode?
Also, I was surprised to discover that N0S4A2 premieres this Sunday, between Fear TWD and Talking Dead. I thought it wasn't going to happen until July...
-
Got to watch the 1st episode of Nos4A2 at SXSW this year (Zachery Quinto sat right behind me!) and the first episode was ok....Lots of set up but I think the shows shows good promise.

Yeah and its a miniseries, aka just one season. Also went to the event for it at SXSW and Gaimon was pretty adamant there wouldn't be more.

Trying to stretch a single book into several seasons of TV is not working well for Gaiman's other project, American Gods, so even though I love Good Omens I'm glad to hear that.
-
We just watched the first 2 episodes of Good Omens and it is pretty true to the book, although with a few differences and modernizations.
