Title: Random Forum Notifications
Post by: alyssa on March 03, 2018, 11:57:19 AM
Hi all,

I just wanted to get everyone a heads up we may have a disruption of service later on today- hopefully it won't be long. Please keep an eye on our twitter feed
@Friendsofcci for the latest info.

Suffice to say Jopari and I will be working to get back to normal if there is a disruption.

If you encounter any structural issues please post in this thread.

People may be experencing slow load times due to old book marks. We have incressed the security of the site, added a 'https://' before the site url. Please take the time to update your bookmark to the site. It will load quicker!

Just a FYI, it says that I have a message but I am not seeing any new messages since last week and I have read all my messages but it still shows 1 unread message.

Seeing the following (Chrome and Firefox) in early a.m.:

"Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

Me too, I've been having connection problems and timeouts for the last couple hours - on Chrome, Internet Explorer, and the Tapatalk app.

They've been super bad the last hour.  I sent screen shots to Kevin via Facebook because I couldn't get to the forum to contact anyone here.

Just restarted the server. The hosting company is claiming we have too many website hits per hour. Maybe well get queue it and make everyone wait in line to visit the page lol

we're back up-
and hopefully they hosting will implement server side caching sometime today. They are continuing to suggest it's because we have too many people hanging out on the forum ;)

Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to change. ;)

Just curious, if the stats are correct that there have been less than 100 people online today, how many people do they consider too many?

Chrome is not liking the new certificate. For now please use other browsers or tapatalk. Should have this resolved tomorrow.

In this case its safe to tell chrome to continue to the site

I think all SSL (Certificate) trust issues have been resolved. let me know if anyone still gets warnings from your browsers or devices.

Also, I turned on some firewall rules that might affect linking content from other sites to posts here, or linking content from this site to other sites. I want to block the bad guys but not the good guys. So If anyone notices images/links not working please let me know right away so I can look into it and get the firewall to allow it.

On any modern browser, newer than 5 years or so, on desktop or mobile the forum just hangs on me since yesterday.  I've had to revert to using a mobile browser from years ago for it to work.

fyi, we just installed a new modification which should enable caching of unposted messages due to navigation away from a page or browser crashes-
post & let us know if there's any unexpected wonkyness going on
thx
