I mean, we all expected that right, due to the pandemic and them not having any events for 2 years.

Also, I didn't realize they switched from fiscal year end to calendar year end. That explains the big loss in the Prior Year column.

What I found most interesting about the article was 1) The very high salaries for the top of a non-profit organization, albeit it may not be unusual if compared to other non-profit organization of this size, I don't know what is standard for that and 2) The potential conflict of interest identified in the article to have one's daughter be hired and get a $170,000 salary.

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Edit: And to look at #3, 2020 (which turned out to be a pandemic year i.e. no in person convention) the salary cost jumped from 6,231,956. from 2,708,409? Doesn't look good, especially if they had to market the CC name to make money for this and in turn lose their non-profit status from that. On the other hand, if this is just being treated like a for-profit business, then maybe that should be brought out into the open and run like any for profit expo.

Came across this. CCI got almost $1.3M in relief from the PPP loans. It was forgiven. Still a far cry from the $7.5M they've lost though.

That was for 2020.  They got another PPP loan in 2021 for the same amount.

I wonder (And I'm just throwing this out there) if Comic-Con might consider another Special Edition in the fall as sort of a fund raiser?

That would be fine with me.  I had a lot of fun at the last one.

Just, y'know, NOT on Thanksgiving weekend.  Right before Halloween, maybe.

I also really enjoyed Special Edition and would definitely attend again, I'd be curious if they'd consistently be able to make enough $ to keep doing it!
