I absolutely believe there are people who come in from out of town that simply do not have a hotel room, camp out in lines every night, and figure out some way to shower/keep clean.

Of course. On Saturday night, I saw them settling in for the night in front of the convention center. Not hard to not shower for 4 days. Wetnaps also do wonders. There's a gym over at Horton Plaza if you belong to them. It's a national chain. There's a youtube video about being homeless in San Diego, 4th largest homeless population in the US. They suggests getting that gym membership every month for shower/restroom access and a cool place to hang out during the day and watch TV. They have gyms everywhere. They also have lockers to store your conan pops in while you sleep on the street.

I stayed at the Hilton Bayfront and Friday night when I was making trips to my hotel room from the Hall H line, I noticed a lot of people sleeping in the lobby near the elevators. There was no line up for anything and the hotel just let people with badges hang out all night.

I saw those people as well and wondered if they were some early overnight line for the next day Indigo panels...

Are you sure they weren't lined up for the Westworld offsite signups?

Wow, that's pretty darn clever, I always assumed people just begged other people in line to let them shower at their hotel room.  Maybe I shouldn't bother with Hotelpocalypse anymore.

Think you are talking about 24 Hour Fitness  as I am a member.   I would not use the shower facilities, as it is filthy.  Storing POP in the lockers is also a bad idea, since locker break in and theft is common.   The only reason I am a member is because I paid a massive fee upfront 10 years ago and now the chain charge me $29/year to maintain it.

conan was crazy this year.  and the scalpers buying pops right outside the door.  some inside the door.  some literally holding up cash in the air.

People were really doing that? Even inside the door? Gah!

Yep, like sharks to chum, unfortunately. As soon as you opened the doors to leave, there they were, cash in hand, screaming "$60! $60! SELL ME YOUR POP, $60!" I chuckled at the lowball offer and a guy up'd the lowball price to $80 #SMH😕

Funny thing was that while lining up, Conan staff was yelling "NO STANDBY, PLEASE!", a group behind me said they were standby but would be trying regardless and would not be moving.
Fastforward, they gave them tickets without asking for the printed confirmation. At the show, they sat beside me.
I don't know what the Conan staff was trying to do...why send confirmations if in the end you are not going to honor them?

I kind of wonder if the Conan folks just gave up and wanted to be done with all the lines so they just went ahead and gave out as many tickets as they could.  :(

Maybe they can do all standby tickets on Wednesday that way there is less of a line all the other days?
