Out of pure curiosity of the process, does anyone know of someone who's gotten a rejection letter from their Pro application?

Question:
Should i be concerned?
I applied as a Creative Pro, got approved, but Im hit with a badge fee?? Could this mean that they have me listed as a Trade Pro??

Possibly, but they've gotten rid of the distinction between badges and its all internally handled now and up to their discretion. You could always e-mail and ask, but it seems a like a bit of randomization is used when it comes to who has to pay for their badge and who doesn't.

The Early Bird hotel sale lit a fire under my butt and I finally paid for my pro-reg badge today. I guess it's real. I am NOT looking forward to Hotelmageddon, but at least I know I'm locked in again this year... whew.

This is what happened to me after years of being categorized as Creative. It’s like being hit with a bucket of cold water. I was thinking about emailing them myself but I’m figuring that those who are actually in the comics industry not only get priority with pro and comp badges but with their badge also being comped. Since it’s not profit and more and more people are applying as pro this is most likely their way of balancing out the costs.

Yeah there are no Pro categories anymore. And they revamped how they prioritize Pro status. It's now more meant for comics, publishing and teachers. I expect to pay next time I reapply, because I do TV and they made it clear tv and film is not a priority.

FWIW most of my credits were film and I received a comp badge for this year after reapplying last year.  I know of others who had mostly worked in TV and still received comp badges.   The criteria they use to pick who gets a comp badge and who doesn't seems to be pretty subjective now.  Who knows if this will change though, I imagine with more and more people applying each year the criteria will only get stricter.

I just now finally got a response to my pro application that I submitted last July. They denied my application.

Sorry to hear that. Can you appeal? Maybe they just needed more info?

I applied in July and STILL haven’t heard anything.

I see a previous poster said they’ve been denying TV/Film people and I work in TV :(

Does anyone know if our Professional status will 'roll over' so that we will still have the remaining years left of "Verification Not Due"?

SDCC 2020 would've been the first year of my current eligibility and I would then reapply for SDCC 2023.

But due to the cancellation, would it be bumped to reapplying for SDCC 2024?

The message on our Member page is a little vague in regards to future applications. It only really mentions if you are eligible this year, you are eligible in 2021, but that comes off sounding like if this was your last year of eligibility you can still attend 2021.

Just curious if anyone has insight. I reached out to CCI as well.

Cheers,
