Mixed bag for my crew! I think we've split years between lucking into a downtown hotel and having one on the shuttle route! We don't do a backup and roll with what the lottery deems us worthy of!

Wow, reading all of these posts reminds me how many of us need a downtown room due to health concerns of one or more of our group members (no shade to anyone who wants to stay downtown simply for the pleasure/ease of it, I think everyone deserves a fair shake at getting a chance).

Point being—I’m seriously hoping the addition of the new Moxy and Guild hotels actually ends up giving attendees more chances to stay in a downtown hotel...you know, as opposed to the fiasco with the Pendry last year.

Forgive me if this has been posted in one of the threads somewhere, but do we know how many new rooms the two hotels have?  No public confirmation on if either are even part of the lottery yet, but it'll be good to know how much of a boost it'll be.

I’ve been looking, and if there is, I’ve missed it. I know better than to expect something the size of the MMM but I’m hoping they’ll at least be mid-sized and just not tiny boutique hotels.

I believe that the Moxy has 126 rooms and the Guild has 162 rooms.
No telling how many will be available in the SDCC 2019 block.

That's a decent amount.  Not a huge amount like Omni or MMM or something, but enough to relieve some pressure.  And yeah, after the whole Pendry fiasco, WHO KNOWS  :'(

The Moxy and the Guild are both advertising themselves as "boutique" hotels, so it's not surprising they're small.

Backup for Steve's numbers here:

Thanks [member=3710]SteveD[/member]! Agreed [member=4434]Angel_[/member] as room numbers go, that’s not as high as I’d hoped but it could definitely be worse. It’s comparable with a hotel like the Andaz. Again, provided the public gets a chance at reservations during the lottery. Argh.

Isn’t there a new Intercontinental popping up soon as well? And it’s a way larger hotel.

When I'm not doing SDCC stuff, I prefer boutique hotels.  When I went into town early a couple years ago I stayed at the Ramada, which has probably about this many rooms (and is super old and way cool).  So it's pretty cool to see these here.

Unfortunately, as established, all that goes out the window for SDCC and I'm a con-adjacent-or-bust person haha.

Yep, same here. My criteria for SDCC used to be a combination of distance + price, but now that all the really close hotels are within about $20/night of each other and I'm a little older and make a little more money, my criteria list is pretty much just DISTANCE DISTANCE DISTANCE.

Yep.

It's right across from SpringHill Suites

I mentioned it in another forum on new hotels.
