WHAT: Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll, an immersive three-day celebration of Japanese animation and culture, will return to the Jacob K. Javits Convention in Manhattan November 19 - 21 this year. One of the largest Japanese pop culture conventions in the USA, Anime NYC returns as the only gathering of this scale scheduled in 2021 in North America. Attractions include panel discussions with internationally renowned anime directors, producers, and actors; exclusive film screenings; cosplay fashion shows; live musical performances; and much more. Tickets for the event can be purchased online starting at $45. More information can be found at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, where attendees can learn more about exhibitors, artists, programs, and special guests.

Anime NYC is built together with leading publishers across the Japanese entertainment business and provides fans a unique platform to interact with the creators and companies at the heart of what’s cool in Japan. The event will welcome Crunchyroll, the world's most popular anime brand with over 5 million subscribers and 120 million registered users, together with influential companies spanning Japanese animation, comics, movies, toys, games, fashion, and more. Anime NYC is working closely with the Javits Center and City of New York on coronavirus prevention measures, and all participants at this year’s event must show proof of vaccination for entry, and face coverings are required while indoors. Organizers look to welcome 50,000 attendees in a safe and healthy event.

“We’re honored to welcome anime fans and the anime industry back to New York for this year's Anime NYC,” said Anime NYC founder Peter Tatara. “We’re always a celebration of what’s new in Japan, but more than that - this year - we’re a celebration of the anime community itself, of the difficult year we all had, and a coming together of a family that’s been absent for 18 months.”

Highlights Already Confirmed Include:

Shinji Aramaki Panel
Join legendary Japanese director Shinji Aramaki in-person for a panel discussion where he will discuss his career, the upcoming Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime, and a special screening of one of his most famous titles: MADOX-01.

Qubic Pictures Panel
Join Justin Leach, founder of the New York and Tokyo-based animation company Qubic Pictures, for a discussion of their work, history, and future - bringing both Japan and the US together with unique, new animated creations. Qubic is the company behind the recent Netflix Original Anime Eden, and Leach served as Co-Executive Producer of Lucafilm’s new anime anthology Star Wars: Visions.

Attack of Titan Manga Gallery
Japanese comic publisher Kodansha returns to Anime NYC bringing a colossal Attack on Titan Manga Gallery. This exhibition celebrates the conclusion of the biggest manga of the decade, with over 100 million copies in print, by showcasing the evolution of the art by series creator Hajime Isayama. The gallery will further feature messages from fans around the world who have supported the series over the past 11 years.

i☆Ris Virtual Appearance
Japanese music group i☆Ris will make a special digital appearance at Anime NYC. A super group composed of five voice actors, each with their own careers, they have released four albums and 20 singles in Japan. They will present footage of recent concerts in Japan as well as answer questions in a Q&A at Anime NYC.

That story is a bit dated.  Back then only 1 person who attended that con had tested positive.  A day after that story was published, health officials said that about 17 more contacts of that person had tested positive for coronavirus.
