So the helmet,
In my defense, it has teeth on it and as my poster buddies know, I like the teeth....
In my defense it was $80 dollars cheaper then the black in the same design.

That's really cool.

Thanks Alyssa for the info on Designer  Con. I thought you might want to know there is the International Motorcycle Show at Long Beach that same weekend. All the motorcycle manufactures will be there and you can see and ride all the new models. Don't know if you'll have the time but it's well worth it if your looking for a bike. More info at the website.

it's going to be a while before i can take the class & learn how to ride BUT being able to sit on a number of bikes would be useful. and figure out what types/brands might work given the short leg problem ;)  (28" inseam)

there's a class in CA which is suppose to be veryvery good & given that i've got christmas & my bday at the end of dec- my fam is always looking for something to get me... plus i can't add anything to my sched. right now

Yeah, you definitely want a bike that allows you to place both feet flat on the ground when you’re stopped. And I definitely recommend new rider classes. Not only will they teach you safety skills but also the rules that will help you pass the written and rider portions of your exam at DMV.

I agree 100%.

My first was a used Yamaha 250.  Perfect size for me.  But the motor started seizing so I bought a used Honda CL 350 which was too tall for me.  I am currently 5'5" and will probably shrink in size even more as I enter my 70's.  I was enamored with the idea of a Honda CL 350.  Good power and reliable, but way too tall.  I liked the styling of the CL Scrambler model and should have just looked for a CB or a 4 stroke closer in size to the Yamaha 250.  I could just barely touch the ground back then.  Today I can barely keep the bike up with just one foot.

Well I did it....
I am the new owner of a Harley Street 750.
It's a 2016 with very few miles on it.

It turned out there are very few bikes short enough for me. I've got a 28" inch inseam. The Harley Street and Honda Rebel were the only bikes I found short enough.
I'm taking the motorcycle course this week and should have be on the road by the end of the month.

thx

i'm kinda astounded i got a harley- but given the inseam issue-  & lucking into the used Street, it was a no brainer.

Given my inseam, it became a choice between a 500cc honda rebel or this harley for the same cost... and that's not a choice. I could have waited but a Street would not become available again for a long time.

I figure if i need a learner bike i'll pick up a 250cc & sell it once i get comfortable on the road. I finish my course next sunday. I'm not so sure about the blue but it does kinda go with my helmet LOL- Point being it's a bike i will grow into. Or if life changes will hold it's value.

according to my friend who took it out for a test drive, there's a lot of vibration in the left foot peg that needs to be addressed and i'll need saddle bags to transport my laptop/bag. So yeah, instead of studying for my lp fundementals exam i'm haunting the Harley accessory sites. //sigh

yeah, i knew that 'blue' comment would get u ;)

i gotta get on my bike for a long ride before i can plan any trips. I need to see what comfort mods i need to do
i've got a half baked idea to ride it out to philly, pick up my stuff that's in storage, load it & my bike into a u-haul & drive back to SD.

I passed my skills portion of the motorcycle course.

the harley is a bit much for me to learn on tho. I'm looking for group think here:
Here's my choices,
  • i haven't picked up the bike yet- i could try & return it. but i really don't want to- i love this bike
  • pick up a 250cc for 1K learn for 6 months & resell the 250cc
  • put bumpers on the Harley & drive it around my neighborhood -- it's really quiet with access to busier streets when i get more confident

i am sore from the driving course. i did not expect to be so sore.

my sense is i just need time in the saddle -

I agree about time in the saddle.  You are possibly feeling use of upper body muscles that you haven't had to use extensively before.
