I'll lock this thread in the meantime (at least until WonderCon 2018 is over ;p).
Thanks for putting up the calendar links, [member=364]Angology[/member]! ^__^d

Since Wondercon 2018 is long past and 2019 is fast approaching, I've unlocked this thread. :)
I'll start! 2019 will be my first Wondercon and I'm so excited!!
-
Would be cool if Galaxy Edge would be open up during this time...I’m guessing middle of the year for that but you never know.

Any word on WonderCon badge sale?
Probably not until after SDCC open registration. Maybe early December?
-
I'm pretty sure I'm going back to WonderCon this year for the first time in several years (I went the first 2 or 3 year it was in Anaheim but it hasn't worked out in my schedule since then)! Always a fun Con
-
What's the crowd like. Interesting in going to support a family member trying to get an artist table. I am just trying to figure out the logistics of transporting art to the event. Some drive, some fly. I went to aneheim a month ago the traffic was bad getting through LA.
-
I'm probably going to this for the first time in Anaheim, though I did go the year that it was in LA.
-
I will be returning with (hopefully) my daughter in tow. Need to get her back to Con life.

I haven't been in a few years, so maybe someone who's been more recent can correct me if I'm wrong:
essentially the crowds felt to me like Comic-Con in the early 2000's - crowded but not overwhelming. Waiting for panels or autographs but in a much more manageable way. For example, it was MUCH easier for me to meet Jim Lee, Stan Lee (no relation), and other comic icons at WonderCon than Comic-Con. I had been going to Comic-Con for over a decade before I finally got to get some stuff signed by Stan the Man and Jim Lee (same year, different day).
I suspect the crowds have grown a bit since I last went, and it looks like at least one or two of the days sell out now in advance (I don't remember that being the case necessarily when I last went), but from my recollection the crowds at WonderCon, as well as the programming, really felt like what going to Comic-Con for the first times in 2000-2004ish were like. The traffic might've been extra bad if you went over Easter weekend, as WonderCon has been held on occasion. One year it was Easter weekend and driving to/from Anaheim from San Diego really sucked, especially on Sunday
-
Crowds aren't bad at all. Sometimes the smaller rooms fill up (as they do at many cons) but I've never been shut out of the Arena for the biggest panels.
Autographs are now handled through a lottery system (just as with SDCC).
-
Do you think it's easier to get in. I've been trying to get tickets to SDCC for years, no success.

it's much easier to get in. Badges are available for months. Although as we all know, things can change, so if you want to go, buy badges when they come on sale.

No need for a buying group when it comes to WonderCon!
When CCI announces WonderCon badges are on sale, just go to the website and buy them. ^__^d There's no online waiting room or random sorting (like the Sorting Hat) to get into purchase sessions. It's much simpler to get a badge for WonderCon than it is for Comic-Con.

Not necessary for WonderCon. Just keep an eye on this site and jump on badges when they come available. You shouldn't have any issues.
I saw you posting in the other thread about your artist daughter. If you want to see a good Artists' Alley, while they have them at SDCC and WonderCOn, you should really consider Emerald City Comic Con. Best/biggest Artists' Alley I've seen, except for possibly New York Comic Con.

Thanks. I just need to join a group for Comic Con next year.

I've heard about NYC from other Artists. But Emerald City sounds like it may fun. Thanks

It's possible that they might have planned to announce something a little while after open registration, but then there was news of John Rogers's (President of Comic-Con International) passing due to complications from brain cancer that same weekend.
Maybe they decided to wait a few weeks--and get past the Thanksgiving holiday weekend--out of respect for his family before announcing any WonderCon news? That's my educated guess, ha ha. ^__^;;
-
Hope they announce it soon before I spend all my money on Christmas shopping.

From https://www.comic-con.org/wca/masquerade
The WonderCon Anaheim Masquerade will be held at 8:30 PM, Saturday, March 30, in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. The event is free to participate in, or to be in the audience; only a WonderCon Anaheim attendee badge valid for Saturday is needed. Doors will open for audience seating at 8:00 PM, and the event will run 2 1/2 hours. Reserved seating is available for special guests and selected press arranged in advance, please send requests to . Audience tickets are not used for this event since our large venue has plenty of seating. And of course, while costumes are not required for audience members, dressing as someone other than yourself always adds to the fun!
Click here to download complete contestant information, rules, and an advance Entry Form. https://www.comic-con.org/sites/default/files/forms/wca2019_masq_rules-entry_v1.pdf
A limited number of contestant slots are available, so interested costumers should submit an entry form early as we usually fill up before the convention. Photos of the costume or costumes you are entering will also be required for confirmation of eligibility. Entries are now being accepted, and the Deadline for advance entry is March 15, 2019 (two weeks before the convention). After that date contestants can sign up at the convention Friday at the Masquerade Desk IF any slots are still available. Once we fill up there will be a Waiting List to fill openings from cancellations. You should keep your costume out of sight prior to the show so it will be a surprise for the audience and judges, and so you and it will be fresh and safe from possible damage in the large convention center crowds. For safety reasons contestants must be at least 10 years of age to be on stage.

I think they shifted all the direct flights to SOCAL over to OAK and SJO.

Reminder (bold mine): https://www.comic-con.org/toucan/verify-your-shipping-address
WONDERCON ANAHEIM Verify Your Shipping Address!
In an effort to reduce lost, returned, and undeliverable badges, we have introduced a simple process to verify your badge shipping address! You must complete the verification process before February 14, 2019 to have your badge shipped in advance!
Please log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account, choose the “Contact Info” tab, and select the “Verify Shipping Address” option. Please verify your badge shipping address before February 14, 2019. If you miss the deadline, you must pick your badge onsite and you miss out on extra special early bird pricing!
Upon verification, your address will turn green and a checkmark will display.
If you need to update your badge shipping address, simply log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account, choose the “Contact Info” tab, and select the “Badge Shipping Address” option. Your badge shipping address will be verified after your changes are saved.
If you’re having trouble verifying your address, no need to panic! Review that you have entered everything correctly! Remember to double check your street number and zip code. Be sure to include the apartment or suite number, if applicable.
If everything is correct and your address still won’t verify, please use the green “Contact Us” feature in your Comic-Con Member ID account well in advance of the February 14, 2019 badge shipping address verification deadline.
Unfortunately, we are unable to ship badges to an international address. If you are an international badge holder and would like to have your badge shipped to a US address, please log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account and update your “Badge Shipping Address” under the “Contact Info” tab with a domestic shipping address. You may complete the USPS verification process at that time. International attendees without a US shipping address may pick up their badge when they arrive onsite.
We anticipate that badges will be sent out 3 – 4 weeks prior to March 29, 2019. Keep a close eye on Facebook, Twitter, and Toucan – the official blog of Comic-Con and Wonder Anaheim - for badge shipping details and announcements!

Thanks! I forgot about LGB/Jet Blue. I just checked but they're not too cheap on Thurs/Mon either unfortunately.

Pricing only valid on Tuesday/Wednesday unfortunately. LAX I can still get $49 each way the other days, but with SNA it's like $89 each way.
If I fly into LAX I'm not going to drive (or else I'd just drive the entire way), I'd either take the Disneyland Resort Express or depending on how much I hate myself that day, attempt to take public transportation.
-
Do you know how much is the Disneyland Resort Express from LAX to Anaheim? I checked SuperShuttle and their website gave me an estimate of $19 (minus fees) to pickup at LAX and drive to the convention center. I bought my Friday morning flight from Oak to SNA already for $91; didn't want to deal with driving from LA to Anaheim on a weekday morning. But I'm considering taking the shuttle from the con to LAX for a Saturday night flight since there's no late SW flights on Sat night to Oak.

https://www.comic-con.org/toucan/wondercon-anaheim-2019-badges-are-shipping
Snoggletog is upon us and WonderCon Anaheim 2019 badges have started shipping! No need to check the Dragon Manual to see if your badge will be shipped. All badges purchased before February 14, 2019 will be mailed via the United States Postal Service (USPS) to the badge shipping address on file in your Comic-Con Member ID account as of that date. We send them in batches, so please do not be alarmed if Tuffnut and Ruffnut’s badges arrive before or after yours.
If you purchased a badge for someone else, their badge will be shipped directly to them! For example, Stoick the Vast purchased badges for himself and Gobber the Belch. Each Viking’s badge will be mailed to his own dragon-themed house!
If your badge is undelivered for any reason (stolen by a troll, lost in the mail) you’ll be able to bring your badge confirmation onsite, along with valid photo identification, to receive a replacement badge. Fortunately, we hear trolls only steal left socks so no need to worry too much. To find your badge confirmation, simply log in to your Member ID account and, under the “Registration Info” tab, select the option to view your registration confirmation. All undelivered badges must be picked up at the Registration Area in Hall E of the Anaheim Convention Center, but please heed this warning: the convention center is a no dragon fly zone.
If you do not receive your badge order by March 15, 2019, please contact us at . Don’t forget to include your full name and your Comic-Con Member ID. Bonus points for including your favorite dragon’s name!
A replacement fee will not be charged for undelivered badges. If your badge wasn’t delivered or was returned to Valka’s Mountain for any reason, make sure you send an email to the address above so we can note your account and have the fee waived when you arrive.
If you accidentally lose your badge or leave it on the Meridian of Misery, don’t worry! We can easily disable your forgotten/lost badge and issue you a new one onsite. Forgotten/lost badges will incur a nominal replacement fee.
As always, Viking children age 12 and under are free with a paying adult. You may register them for free at the Registration Area in Hall E when you arrive onsite. (Sorry Hiccup ... you’ll need to purchase a junior badge.) For more information about our child badge policy, click here!
We can’t wait for you to join us in our not-so-hidden world that is WonderCon Anaheim!

I just realized something, these last few months I have not been getting any of the daily E-mails from the Post Office on arriving snail-mails, need to see what's up with that.

FWIW, my son's badge has yet to arrive.

Greetings fellow Con enthusiasts,
I'm flying to WonderCon 2019 from NYC, and yes my arms will be very tired, LOL. I'm an old Con Vet, 1st con was back in 1977, but this is my 1st WonderCon. Just wanted to know if you guys have any "Must do, or see" best practices.
If anyone collects Lanyards I have a few extras from past NYC Comic Cons, let me know and I'll bring a couple.

i think that's really up to u and what your interests are. I will say i really enjoy people watching by the fountain after hours- one night as i was leaving something in the large hall, we stummbled into a jedi saber battle- really fun to watch with other enthusiastic folks ;)
I have a particular fondness for roscos' chicken and waffles. A bunch of us usually gather in the Hilton bar for after hr's cocktails and there's the sat night buffet at the Marriot....
personally, i'm going to spend time in Artist alley & hunting for Posters (Hero complex & spoke etc)
i'm not a disney fan but the park is within walking distance.

WonderCon is my favorite. I low-key like it more than SDCC in many ways. It is so much more relaxed and easy to navigate and still offers some top-notch panels. There is a hospitality lounge on the second floor of the Hilton that has free snacks and drinks, which is usually pretty empty and a nice place to refuel on the cheap.
Cosplay is really good at WC and if you are into that you will be pleased. A friend of mine likes to dedicate one afternoon and evening to doing D&D at WC and says it's a very chill and fun venue for him on that front.
Prepare to have a really great time!

Has the Arena ever been completely full? Or is it generally walk-in (if you don't care where you sit?)

Has the Arena ever been completely full? Or is it generally walk-in (if you don't care where you sit?)
I have seen it full on very rare occasions, but that is an extreme circumstance. I've walked in before and sat in the VERY back corner (nosebleeds) and still had a great view.
-
We are going to bring Four Souls to play in the gaming area in the evening. It's attached to the hospitality, so you can grab a snack and play! It's pretty fun, you don't need to know anything about the video game, Binding of Issac. If anyone is interested, I'll be posting when we will be up there.
Please don't forget to come and say hi!!! #1001, next to DC

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #03: General Information About Attending WCA Programming
Every year, we aspire to create the best programming schedule possible for attendees, and this year, WonderCon Anaheim brings you returning favorites in comics and pop culture as well as new creators, artists, films, and TV series to explore and discover.
Our complete programming schedule is coming (VERY!) soon and we want to thank you for helping make WonderCon the amazing convention it’s become. To make sure you have the best experience this year, please take the time to review the following guidelines:
Programming rooms are not cleared between panels
The lines in the lobby are for the rooms and not for individual panels
To ensure you have a seat for a later panel you want to see, go inside the room rather than waiting in the lobby. You might find something new on the stage to add to your fandom
Mark the panels you’re interested in on the app or online
Download the Comic-Con app for the most up-to-date information on panels (WonderCon 2019 update coming soon!), or utilize MySched on our website to make your own personalized program and events schedule.
Keep panel rooms clean of trash
You can bring food and drink into the programming rooms, but please make sure to take your trash with you when you leave.
Do not crowd around the stage in panel rooms
It’s okay to get excited for panels and panelists, but do not attempt to walk up to the stage after the panel. Panelists are prohibited from signing things or giving away placards. We have to prepare the stage for the next panel.
Here are some additional tips for attending programs at WonderCon Anaheim 2019:
Go see a panel you hadn’t planned on attending
WonderCon Anaheim is a great place for exploration and trying new things, so we encourage you to go see something you hadn’t planned on. Take advantage of the fact that we don’t clear programming rooms after each panel, and attend a panel before or after the one you have in mind. You might find a new favorite!
Move into the row as far as you can
Most programming rooms fill up for each event, so please move all the way into the row and don’t leave any empty seats. Scooch down and make room for others.
Ask about bathroom passes
Some programming rooms have them, others don’t! It’s a good idea to be aware of this in case you’re planning to spend most of the day in a certain programming room.
Be courteous to your neighbors
We’re all there for the same reason! It’s best to be nice and remember that we’re all trying to enjoy ourselves and the event. Plus, you might just make a new friend!
Wear your badge at all times
Make sure to display your badge proudly so security can see it. Please remember that all event and program rooms have limited capacity as set by the fire marshal. Even though your badge is needed to get into all events, it does not guarantee access to any event if the venue has reached its capacity.
Don’t leave right at 7:00 PM when the Exhibit Hall closes
Programming continues late on Friday and Saturday nights. Be sure to review the Programming Schedule when it's released to plan ahead. WonderCon Anaheim doesn't stop when the Exhibit Hall closes!
Don’t stand (or run!) in the programming rooms
Chances are if you’re standing in front of your seat, instead of sitting in it, you’re negatively impacting the experience of the people around you. Please take a seat. Also, remember there is no running in the programming rooms, lobby, Exhibit Hall, or outside the Anaheim Convention Center.
Don’t sit in reserved seats
Certain seats are reserved for a reason and will be clearly marked. Please avoid sitting in them, as you’ll be asked to relocate to a different seat anyway.
Don’t bring strollers into the programming rooms
While we recognize how handy strollers are, they can also be a safety hazard. We ask you to not bring strollers into the programming rooms … By Fire Marshal orders, they’re not permitted. For your convenience, there is stroller parking provided at the Anaheim Convention Center.
We can’t wait to show you all that we have in store for this year. The WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Programming Schedule is coming SOON … check back for complete info!

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #04: Group Panels Featuring Our Special Guests!
As you’re getting ready for WonderCon Anaheim 2019—and creating your game plan for seeing the most guests and panels—don’t forget about our group panels featuring our special guests. We know you’re excited to see them in their individual spotlight panels, but it’s a whole new level of fandom geekiness when you see several amazing creators come together in a room to discuss a specific topic. See them weigh in on important issues like “What Is the Best Super Power?” Or “Our Favorite Villains and Why We Love Them” (or love to hate them). And that’s just Friday!
On Saturday, you can come see our guests debate “Costumes for Caped Crusaders: Function Versus Fashion.” Finish off WonderCon on Sunday by attending “The Entrepreneurial Spirit in Comics,” where established creators talk about the ins and outs of the comic industry and all its extensions, and then stick around to hear from some experts in “Magical Comics for Kids.”
Here’s a sneak peek at some of these group panels featuring our special guests … look for the complete WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Programming Schedule coming (VERY!) soon!
Friday, March 29
2:30–3:30 What Is the Best Superpower?—Flight? Invisibility? Super strength? Everyone at one point in time has sat around their living room, debating which one is best. Now hear the opinion of the experts! Do these comic creators know the answer? Is there truly a right answer? Moderator Gabe Carrasco (Aspen Comics managing editor) gets to the truth with Vita Ayala (Supergirl), Amy Chu (Red Sonja), Tom King (Batman), Liam Sharp (Wonder Woman), and Scott Snyder (Batman). Room 213AB
5:30–6:30 Our Favorite Villains—They may be killers, but readers often find themselves rooting for the villains anyway. What makes these hardened criminals worthy of adoration? Find out from the creators who bring them to life. Moderator Mark Waid (Daredevil) discusses villainous antics with WonderCon special guests Greg Capullo (Batman), Donny Cates (Venom), Gerry Duggan (Deadpool), Joëlle Jones (Lady Killer), and Tim Sale (Daredevil). Room 213AB
Saturday, March 30
2:30–3:30 Costumes for Caped Crusaders: Fashion Versus Function—Geeky fashion expert Ashley Eckstein (Her Universe) moderates a panel on one of comics’ most burning questions, when it comes to superhero fashions, which is more important, fashion or function? WonderCon Anaheim special guests Jen Bartel (Blackbird), Joëlle Jones (Lady Killer), Tula Lotay (Supreme: Blue Rose), and Brian Stelfreeze (Back Panther) share their expertise on what makes a great costume. Room 213AB
Sunday, March 31
10:30–11:30 The Entrepreneurial Spirit in Comics—Love all things comics? Love paying your bills too? What opportunities are out there for comics creators and comics lovers? Moderator Mark Waid (Daredevil) talks to WonderCon Anaheim special guests Julie Benson (Batgirl and the Birds of Prey), Shawna Benson (Green Arrow), Phil LaMarr (Samurai Jack), Ryan Meinerding (head of visual development, Marvel Studios), and Liam Sharp (Wonder Woman) about the ins and outs of the comics biz and all its extensions. Room 208
12:30–1:30 Magical Comics for Kids—As a kid, everything is magical, and magic is believable. Bringing magic to life expands young minds, and these comics creators are experts at sprinkling that fairy dust. Mary Bellamy (Faux Facts and Ah Heck!!), Alina Chau (The Nian Monster), and WonderCon special guests Katie Cook (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic), Greg Pak (The Princess Who Saved Herself), and Dana Simpson (Phoebe and Her Unicorn) share their tips and tricks and a little hint of magic. Room 208

I haven't got my daughter's badge either. I emailed them to confirm the order and they said to contact them after the 15th if we still don't have it. I am unclear why they wouldn't send same household badges in the same envelope.

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #08: Creative Collaboration Opportunities at WonderCon Anaheim
Get excited, creators! Whether you’re into comics, books, fashion, or games, this year’s WonderCon is full of opportunities to get feedback from experts and improve your work for publication and audience consumption. Check out the programming in panel room 204C, which we have dubbed the “Creative Collaboration Room” for this year.
On Friday, we offer you the Comic Pitch Review and the Comic Creator Connection. If you’re planning on attending the Comic Creator Connection, we highly recommend going to the Comic Pitch Review at 5:00, conducted by professional speechwriter and speaking coach Douglas Neff. His guidance will help you polish your pitch and make your ideas sound as exciting to others as it is for you. (Spaces are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis for this.) Then come back at 7:00 for the Comic Creator Connection, where you’ll sit in five-minute sessions with fellow writers and illustrators to find the perfect partner to bring your ideas to life. To pre-register online for Comic Creator Connection, please click here.
On Saturday, junior designers can attend the Her Universe Fashion Show: Junior Design Camp, while comics and game creators get their chance to once again find a partner or team to help their dream products come to life in the Gaming Creator Connection (for more info and to register, click here) and Comics Creator Connection. We’ll even offer another opportunity at the Comic Pitch Review prior to attending Comics Creator Connection.
Sunday is a great day for you if you’re a writer! We offer two writer-focused events with the Writers’ Coffeehouse and Comics, Coffee, and Conversation. Author Peter Clines (Ex-Heroes series, Paradox Bound) leads the Writers’ Coffeehouse where seasoned or new authors can chat about topics ranching from pitching and selling to overcoming writer’s block. Then, comics creator and WonderCon Special Guest Scott Snyder (Batman, Justice League, WYTCHES) will host an invigorating discussion regarding graphic novels, education, and diversity. (Coffee consumption at both events are optional, not required.)
We hope these events are helpful to your professional needs and growth!
Here are the complete descriptions of the panels mentioned above:
Friday, March 29
5:00–6:00 Comic Pitch Review—If you’re a writer or artist attending the Comic Creator Connection, this is your chance to practice giving your pitch before the event and get some invaluable help from a professional writer and speaker coach. A pitch is simply a way to present yourself or your project to others. It is usually a brief speech designed to persuade your listener into supporting what you’re doing or what you’ve made. Most creators have no trouble coming up with great ideas for new comics, but they often struggle to speak clearly and concisely about those ideas to other people. Giving a good pitch is a vital skill in bringing your project to life. Pitch reviews will be conducted by Douglas Neff, a professional speechwriter, speaker coach, and host of the Comic Creator Connection. This is not a panel. Instead, these are three- to five-minute individual coaching sessions for as many people as can be accommodated in the scheduled time. Spaces are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, and observers are welcome. Room 204C
7:00–9:00 Comic Creator Connection—Are you a writer with a great idea for a comic book series, but you can’t draw? Or maybe you’re an artist looking to illustrate an incredible story, but you can’t write. WonderCon is proud to once again host the Comic Creator Connection, a fast-paced networking event that puts writers and artists together to help them meet new creative partners. Here’s how it works: In a two-hour period, writers and artists will sit across from each other at a table. (And by artists, we mean pencillers, inkers, colorists, etc.—all are welcome!) Then, in five-minute sessions, you will talk one-on-one with each other about your ideas and skills. At the end of each five-minute period, you will get up and move on to the next person. If you’re interested in furthering the conversation, you’ll exchange contact information. Think of it as speed-dating, but for writers and artists! Sign-ups are taken in advance for this event, but space may still be available on site. Room 204C
Saturday, March 30
10:00–1:00 The Her Universe Fashion Show: Junior Design Camp—Calling all aspiring fashion designers! Are you too young to compete in the Her Universe Fashion Show? Do you want to be a fashion designer or maybe even work for a fashion company like Her Universe someday? If you are between the ages of 6 and 17 come and learn to design with the Her Universe team and Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein. This three-hour session is free with a WonderCon badge and no experience is needed. During this three-hour session, junior designers will learn how to bring their ideas to life with a step-by-step tutorial of the fashion design process. We encourage junior designers of all skill levels to just come with their imagination and get ready to learn and sketch out their designs! Parents are welcome to attend, participate and ask questions! Room 204C
2:00–4:00 Gaming Creator Connection—The Gaming Creator Connection (GCC) is an opportunity for aspiring and learning game developers to receive valuable advice, insights, and mentoring from seasoned veterans of the game industry with diverse experiences in production, programming, art, business development, and more. The Gaming Creator Connection is organized and run by professional game developers, including a former executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). The GCC is a perfect opportunity to seek expert guidance on a wide range of topics pertaining to the development of your career. The Gaming Creator Connection is only available to those who have signed up in advance; sign-ups were available on the WonderCon website. Room 204C

Sunday, March 31
11:00–1:00 Writers’ Coffeehouse at WonderCon—Led by author Peter Clines (Dead Moon, Paradox Bound, the Ex-Heroes series, numerous short stories, and countless articles on the film and television industry), this session focuses on the business of prose publishing. The Writers Coffeehouse is a bunch of writers sitting around talking about writing. No agendas, no requirements—just chat about markets, about pitching and selling, about conquering frustration and defeating writer’s block, and about all of the good things that come from the community of writers. It’s open to everyone—from absolute beginners to award-winners and bestsellers. Just show up, hang out, and talk. Or don't talk—lurk in the back and take notes. Room 204C
4:00–5:00 Comics, Coffee, and Conversation—Creator Scott Snyder (Batman, WYTCHES) is joined by comics librarians, educators, and fellow graphic novel enthusiasts for fandom conversations over coffee. Topics will range from how graphic novels are used in education today, how diversity is spreading in the comics community, and information about the new Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table of the American Library Association. Room 204C

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #09: Explore WonderCon’s Artists’ Alley and Small Press Areas!
Our Artists’ Alley and Small Press areas are a huge hit with our attendees, and for good reason! Between both areas, there are close to 500 amazing artists and creators to see, which can be overwhelming. Make the most of your time (and remain stress free!) by planning your visit in advance. Use our Artists’ Alley, Exhibitors, Fan Table, and Small Press Lists for the most up-to-date information on who’s coming and where they will be.
Not familiar with these areas? Both Artists’ Alley and Small Press feature some of the best and up-and-coming industry professionals in the comics, science fiction, fantasy, and related popular arts fields. Make sure to visit Artists’ Alley for your favorite artists and illustrators, including a lot of our special guests (TIP: This year’s Artists’ Alley has an amazing gathering of popular comics prots … check out that list and plan accordingly!) Interested in independent publishers? Head over to Small Press!
Navigating these areas can be tricky. With so much to see and do, it’s easy to spend an entire day there! We’ve compiled a checklist to help you traverse your way with ease:
Plan your route!
Use the links above to find out who will be at WonderCon Anaheim 2019 and where. A little bit of prep goes a long way.
Bring supplies!
There will be some essentials available in the Exhibit Hall, but you may want to think about bringing poster board, tubes, comic book bags and backing boards, original art rigid sleeves, or packing material to make sure your art and books makes it home safely. Don’t forget pens: bring permanent markers or colored pens for autographs.
Get Sketches, Prints, and Posters!
Many artists’ will do sketches for a fee! Bring a sketchbook; it’s much handier than a piece of paper!
A lot of artists offer prints and posters of some of their work, which you can get signed with purchase. Don’t forget to browse through portfolios and binders on the artists’ tables. They can’t display everything, and you never know what hidden gems are lurking in their binders.
Collect the business cards of artists whose work you like so you can visit their website or social media pages.
Be courteous!
Don’t forget your manners. Be courteous and don’t ask the artists and creators to sign everything—choose your favorite items!
Keep it moving!
There’s a lot to see, but congestion and lingering in the aisles can create safety hazards and traffic jams.
WonderCon’s Artists’ Alley and Small Press areas are filled to the brim with amazing art, comics, books, and creators. Make sure you set aside enough time to see it all! Click here to see the exact locations for both areas on our Exhibit Hall Map!

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #11: Picking Up Your Badge Onsite
Did you purchase your WonderCon Anaheim 2019 badges after the shipping deadline? No problem, we have you covered!
If your badge was not shipped in advance, you’ll be able to pick up your badge onsite. All you need is your valid photo ID and your badge confirmation that was emailed to you upon purchase. Can’t find your badge confirmation? Check the email account associated with your Comic-Con Member ID. Make sure to peek in those pesky email SPAM folders just to be safe. Still can’t find it? Log in to your Member ID account, click the “Registration Info” tab, and select “View My Registration Confirmation” towards the bottom.
Now that you’ve got your photo ID and your badge confirmation ready to go, what’s next? Bring both onsite to the Registration Area in Hall E of the Anaheim Convention Center: 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 during the badge pick-up hours listed below. Yes, you read that right ... badge pick-up has moved to HALL E for 2019. Oh, and while you’re there, don’t forget to pick up your Program Book, bag, and lanyard!
Single-day badges can be picked up on the day indicated on the badge. If you purchased all three single days (Friday through Sunday), you can pick up your consolidated badge on any of the days listed below.
Extra eager to attend WonderCon Anaheim? Next day badge pick up is available from 3:00–7:00 PM only. For example, if you purchased a Sunday badge, you may pick it up on Saturday from 3:00–7:00 PM, or any time on Sunday.
BADGE PICK-UP HOURS
Thursday, March 28, 2019: 12:00 PM–7:00 PM
Friday, March 29, 2019: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Saturday, March 30, 2019: 8:30 AM–7:00 PM
Sunday, March 31, 2019: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Badge pick-up hours are subject to change, and even though they probably won’t, make sure to double-check here as we get closer to the event!
Wait just a second … where do attendees receive their Program Book, bag, and lanyard if they had their badge shipped in advance? Great question! You’re going to head to Hall E of the Anaheim Convention Center when you get onsite to pick up these goodies.

This will be my first WonderCon! Going on Saturday.
I've attended SDCC the past four years and will be again this year. Interested to experience how "relaxed" WCA is in comparison.
Glad to see we can pick up our Saturday badge on Friday 3p-7p.
Does anyone have any transport recommendations from Irvine?
Trying to decide if we should just drive in super early to get a parking spot at the convention center garage, vs parking farther away and shuttling in.

Come early and park at the Convention Center. It shouldn't be a problem at all around 7-8am.
-
Have the B-list celebrity signings been announced or listed? I haven't attended WonderCon in a few years, but they used to have celebrity signings for a few B-list movies and films from the 70's and 80's that you didn't need a wristband for; they would be in designated areas of the convention center. The last year I went, they had a Superman signing. I reviewed the list and didn't see anything like that this time around. Just wondering if I missed it somewhere, or if they don't do that anymore.

I was looking too. I don't see anything announced about who is there to sign (paid signings) this year. I do see an autograph area on the floor map though. Last time I really looked into this, I think a couple of years ago, Margot Kidder was there and I kept walking by her and thinking about it and never did it, and I REALLY regret that now.

If the Convention Center parking is a problem, there is a Disneyland lot (the 'Woody and Friends' lot) that's very very close to the Convention Center. It's Disney parking money, for sure, but it almost certainly won't be full if needed. That's where I'll likely park Friday (albeit with my Disneyland AP). There might be a sign that says "don't park here for Convention events) but they're not going to track you down and check it out. I've parked in that lot for NAMM before, probably Anaheim's largest convention by a LOT and the Woody and Friends lot is never problematic
-
Remember, parking may be a bit crazy for Disney too, because they are building another parking structure. Parking is $25.
It's actually way cheaper to park down the street at Target and Lyft there.
Do not parking the side streets across the street from the back side of the convention center off of West Street. It is permit only.

I love that part of WonderCon! We call it "The Aisle of Washed Up Stars" :) I remember one year(I think it was when Wondercon was in LA) we saw Chaka from Land of the Lost, The Soup Nazi form Seinfeld, and Cissy from Family Affair. And some others, too. It was quite entertaining!

https://www.comic-con.org/toucan/15-cosplaying-wondercon-our-costume-props-policy-you
WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2019 TOUCAN TIPS! #15: Cosplaying at WonderCon? Our Costume Props Policy Is For You!
If you’re coming to WonderCon Anaheim in costume and that costume includes props, please be aware of our Costume Props Policy, which includes having your props checked at one of our desks.
Costume Props Policy
No functional weapons are allowed at WonderCon Anaheim. Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:
All costume weapons must be inspected at the Costume Props Check Desk. There are 4 locations this year: on the Grand Plaza outside, inside the Anaheim Convention Center in Lobby B/C, and in Hall E near registration, and in the lobby of ACC North Building (locations are subject to change).
All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law.
Projectile costume weapons must be rendered inoperable.
Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver.
Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn.
After each person’s costume weapon has been checked, it will be tagged by security, and you will be given a wristband to wear to designate that your weapons have been checked.
Security will escort you to the security station for inspection if your costume weapon is not tagged.
If you do not want to have your costume weapons inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons to WonderCon Anaheim.
Convention Policies
In addition to the Costume Props Policy, we have a number of Convention Policies that are for all WonderCon Anaheim attendees. Please click here to read all of these policies and keep them in mind while at the event. Knowing these policies will help everyone have a safe and enjoyable WonderCon experience!

Masquerade
The WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Masquerade will take place on Saturday at 8:30 PM in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena. More Masquerade info here!
Don’t forget your badge!
Or, be ready to pick it up onsite! If you purchased a badge by February 14, 2019 you should have received it in the mail. Make sure you bring it with you, and don’t forget to pick up your Program Book, bag, and lanyard in Hall E when you arrive. If you purchased after February 14, 2019, you will be able to pick up your badge, Program Book, bag, and lanyard when you arrive onsite. Visit our Badge Purchase FAQ for Registration Area hours.
Wear your badge at all times, and don’t forget to tap in and out! At various access points in and around the Anaheim Convention Center, you will encounter gates with a large “TAP BADGE HERE” indicator. Simply tap your badge briefly to the indicator each time you pass through. You’ll need your badge to access the Exhibit Hall, panel rooms, and even the nighttime events and areas—including Anime, Games, and Hilton Anaheim events—so wear it at all times!
Review the Programming Schedule!
Keep track of everything you want to see by using MySCHED to highlight panels and events. It’s easy and free to use! You can also just check the panel schedule by visiting our Programming Schedule page.
Download the Official Comic-Con App, featuring up-to-date WonderCon Anaheim info!
The Official Comic-Con App features all the info on the show, and the programming schedule is constantly updated (and works with your MySCHED info, too!). It’s the easiest way to carry show info with you. Search “Official Comic-Con App” on the Mac OS App Store and Google Play for Android phones and tablets.
Grab your official WonderCon Anaheim 2019 Program Book!
This year’s Program Book features an amazing cover by Batman artist Lee Weeks, celebrating both the publication of Detective Comics #1000 and the 80th anniversary of Batman. Inside this 120-page, full-color book, you’ll find bios of all of our special guests, the complete program schedule (including Anime, Children’s Film Festival, Games, Portfolio Review), and “Around the Booths” section showcasing some of our Exhibitors and, of course, the world-famous Quick Guide! Bound into the center of the book, the QG contains maps of the Exhibit Hall, Anaheim Convention Center, and Hilton Anaheim Hotel, and the complete 3-day Program Schedule grid and listings of all exhibitors at the show! Make sure you pick up your copy in Hall D, along with your lanyard and bag! Can’t wait? Click here to read the online version of this year’s Quick Guide!
Bring a copy of your work to a Portfolio Review!
If you are showing your portfolio in any of our Portfolio Review sessions, bring printed copies so you don’t have to give out your originals. And don’t forget your business cards and resumes!
Share the WonderCon love on social media!
When you’re posting and tweeting photos to your favorite social media platforms, don’t forget to use our official hashtags: #WCA2019 and #DoYouWithUs. We can’t wait to see your amazing photos and posts!
Speaking of sharing, the Anaheim Convention Center has free Wi-Fi!
However, please limit use to tweeting and checking email. It isn’t high-capacity and won’t work well if you try to upload or download large files.
Convention Policies and Good Advice
Before we wrap it up, we have some simple advice to help make your visit a success!
Check out our Convention Policies page, which covers a number of topics that are important to know, including our Cosplay Props Policy.
Want some more tips? You can review our entire set of 2019 Toucan Tips by clicking here.
While planning your trip to WonderCon Anaheim 2019, don’t forget to bring these essential items:
You’ll need your valid photo ID in the event that we need to confirm your badge.
Please wear comfortable shoes to keep your feet happy while browsing the Exhibit Hall.
Most exhibitors take credit cards, but you might be able to score a sweet deal with cash. Avoid long ATM lines
and bring it with you!
A sketchbook is an easy way to keep autographs and sketches all in one place!
Stay hydrated by bringing a reusable water bottle. Fill it up using the drinking fountains in the Anaheim
Convention Center (but not the big fountain outside!).
Snacks! Keep nuts, fruits or granola bars on you so you can easily refuel while rushing around the Exhibit Hall.
Slather on the sun screen! It’s almost always sunny in Anaheim, so keep your skin safe from the sun!
From checking the Programming Schedule to downloading maps (and everything in between!) don’t forget an
external battery/phone charger!
And finally, the most important tip of all: HAVE FUN! WonderCon Anaheim only comes around once a year, so be kind and courteous, treat others the way you want to be treated, and go with the flow and have a WONDERful time!

Noob to WonderCon programming. Help me, WonderCon experts, you’re my only hope.
I’d like to do the Dark Phoenix panel and Justice League screening, both on Friday in the Arena. How much before the program start times should I be getting there?
I’m hoping wait times are less demanding than popular panels at SDCC. I don’t even try there because I know the waiting is RIDICULOUS.
TIA!
-
I don't think there will be a line for the Arena panels except in the morning when the room opens up. I'm not sure if they've ever stopped letting attendees in the Arena before; if it's happened, it's only on Saturday. If there is a line of sorts, it's probably just to let attendees in an orderly fashion.
-
It’s usually pretty easy to get in? As stated the only real lines I’ve been in have been to siphon people in. I’d give time for that.

Hey, a big thanks for everyone asking if they could help me grab some stuff at WC! Kass got out early, ordered me my phone cases, I grabbed my sweater, so some things were found. I'm bummed I didn't get to grab my comics I need. And thanks for popping by to say hi! It really means the world to me!! Xo

I wanted to mention the mountains of kindness everywhere! Besides the doughnuts and cheese rolls (Lifesavers!), Someone gave Kass his Loungefly Cuphead backpack off of his back, I was gifted the Alex Pardee Little Mermaid pin (the original VHS cover...,you know!), A woman saw I wanted a Doom Patrol poster (it looks like a Mondo) they were giving away at the DC booth and she gave me hers ("my son already has one and I don't need it"), and a man said he loved the Wonder Woman movie so much and felt everyone should see it, if he met someone that didn't see it, he would pull out his phone, buy them a ticket and email it to them. It just felt like a lot of love was going around. And I saw a ton of dogs, and not just the bomb sniffing ones. I hope everyone else had a great experience too!

This was my first time at WonderCon in Anaheim (though I did go that year it was in LA) since it moved from SF. Anyway, it was good to see that the con itself was pretty much as I remember it. Great exhibit hall, interesting anime screenings, and best of all, top notch panels and screenings that (for the most part) weren't difficult to get into. There were enough panels about properties I was interested in to 2/3 of my time at the con, and enough that I didn't know but looked like they might be interesting enough to check out to fill out the remaining 1/3. Some of the smaller rooms got full but not too far ahead of time, and nothing in the Arena I went to filled up or got anywhere close to filling up (including Agents of Shield, NOS4A2, WB/Godzilla/Shazam, or either the Justice League vs. Fatal Five or Batman vs TMNT premieres). And yes, that Godzilla clip really was as awesome as everyone said it was.
The exhibitor hall itself was bigger but seems to have fewer big name booths but way more retailers. Still, there were a few big names; Toynami, UCC, Boom, etc. I picked up some Tulipop blind box figures from Toynami and found out the artist (Signy) was here so I went over to her booth and she signed them -- that was cool. The Shazam booth was cool too.
Food trucks were a nice idea and I liked the selection. The food I had from them was good...but they were grossly overpriced. I suppose that's due to the convention center charging a premium, and to be fair I guess it kept the lines down (the three times I went to a truck I never had to wait more than a few minutes.) But food choices in the immediate vicinity weren't a whole lot better -- with few exceptions (Roscoe's and Sabrosada are really the only ones that come to mind), they were either pedestrian, also overpriced, or both.
I still don't think it feels right in Anaheim. Despite how much WonderCon has going on, it still feels fairly...passive. It needs the energy of a big city to complement it. Even WonderCon in LA felt better than Anaheim. But I guess the nice part about there being little of interest in the surrounding area was that it made it easy to go back to my hotel and get a good night's rest every night. And as long as the programming stays top notch, I'll still probably keep on going.
Also, since I didn't want to pay rental fee + $20 parking per day for a car, I tried to get familiar with the OCTA. It's $2 per bus ride (no transfer discounts, although transfers were usually required since most lines primarily just run N-S or E-W) or $4.50 for a day pass if you use the app. I got in on Thursday and bought a day pass to get from the airport and make a few stops at breweries. For the most part it worked how it should and buses arrived with a few minutes of the scheduled time (and drivers were surprisingly friendly!) The main issue was that buses don't run that often--on average about once every half hour, sometimes every 15-20 min during peak hours but only once an hour off peak. And the airport line only runs once an hour all day. Since transfers were often required, this meant that you had to time them perfectly (and hope for no major delays).
