The first concert I was ever at was Gordon Lightfoot.  I was a small kid, with my parents.  As a Canadian, his death makes me sad, as his songs are a significant part of the soundtrack of my childhood and hit all my warm and fuzzy nostalgia places.

Gordon Lightfoot died on Great Lakes Awareness Day; bravo for that on-the-nose/on-brand timing, sir  :smilie_happy_thumbup: :drinking25:

A bit late, but I was on KidRobot's page and read that Frank Kozik passed away. Not sure if anyone here was a fan of the collectibles. I really like the Labbits, and the company as a whole with the Dunnys.

Andy Rourke, the bassist for the British alt-rock band The Smiths, passed away from pancreatic cancer.  He was 59.  The band’s most well-known song is “How Soon Is Now?”

Jim Brown, who had a long movie career that's at best only the 3rd greatest thing he did, died today at the age of 87 You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
This one hits kinda hard for me, as a kid from Cleveland who grew up in OH and was raised on Cleveland sports.  His Hall of Fame time with the Cleveland Browns is literally stuff of legend, from him setting records as a running back to his abruptly quitting in his prime when relatively new Browns owner Art Modell forced him to choose between playing for the Browns or starring in movies after a movie shoot schedule conflicted with a few weeks of summer camp/preseason.  Brown stubbornly told Modell to f-off and retired from professional sports.  The film, THE DIRTY DOZEN, is a classic, and Brown went on to a long acting career over several decades.  He retired holding several records that were broken by OJ Simpson and Walter Payton, other all-time NFL HoF greats (though Brown would've had some very hard-to-break records had he spent more than 9 years in the NFL; Payton broke the all-time rushing yards record in his _10th_ season, for example).  He was a member of the Cleveland Browns NFL Championship team of 1964: the last major Cleveland sports World Championship until LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship on Father's Day 2016.

He was also a leading Civil Rights activist, who was close friends with Malcom X.  He led a movement w/other popular professional athletes, and is credited as being the leader that motivated many other African American professional athletes to take up the movement publicly and on the field.  He was highly influential, and founded several charity organizations that promoted Black-owned businesses, economic opportunities for minorities, and other things.  He also worked out throughout Cleveland to help youths stay/get out of gang life, as well as incarcerated prison inmates find success w/out crime once released.  My dad worked with him a bit on that last thing decades ago, and while my dad is not typically impressed by celebrities (and in his job, he saw the dark side of MANY celebrities, such as Pete Rose, Michael Tyson, and others: and believe me when I say Jim Brown unfortunately had his own dark side of abusive behavior) he still speaks very highly of Jim Brown and what he worked to do for the community.

Brown lived a long and fruitful life, not only making a ton of people happy but also did much for his community.  This is a sad day in Cleveland, but any Browns fans will tell ya "well, at least he outlived Art Modell by over a decade" so at least there's that  :drinking01:

"Rome" was such a great series. He was perfect in the "Punisher: War Zone".

I saw her in concert once.  If I remember correctly, she was about 60 then.  That woman could put on a show!

God Bless her!!!

I was never a big fan, but she was legit good in MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (and I still dig that soundtrack, full of mostly her music/songs)

My favorite scene in Thunderdome is when Tina asks Max “you can shovel (expletive), can’t you?”
