10:00 am - 11:00 am: Comic-Con Film School 103: Working with Actors and a Crew

Day 3 of our course on micro-budget moviemaking deals with how to direct actors, organize a crew, and keep them all happy without anybody making a dime. In a polluted city a hedgehog searches for food. Nearby, a lonely cricket chirps, hoping to find a mate. But now he finds himself on the menu. 12:25 pm - 12:35 pm: Kindled

Kindled tells the story of a Flame Sprite and a Wood Sprite, miniature faerie beings in a fantasy world. Their friendship is childlike, yet strong enough to overcome the challenges presented by the environment and by themselves, even if it means risking or sacrificing something for each other.

12:35 pm - 12:50 pm: Bristled

After countless blind dates, a man swears that his next date will be the one. But could her flaw be too much for him to overcome? Bristled is a hand-drawn comedic short film that deals with the way we perceive others as well as ourselves.

12:50 pm - 1:20 pm: Blue & Malone

On the eve of its demolition, Berta visits the old theater where her grandmother used to work. She finds out that it's not completely abandoned. Mortando Malone and Big Blue Cat, her old imaginary friends, are there to help her solve an impossible case: recapture her capacity to dream.

What can hold their society together when a new leader divides them? In a forgotten village, where everyone is cut from the same cloth, a new, self-proclaimed leader arrives changing the local way of life. Dividing lines are carved out as the once unified society is torn and segregated. Them is a cautionary tale of misguided ideologies, destructive leadership, and being an outsider. But most importantly, it is a film about celebrating what we have in common rather than what separates us.

1:45 pm - 2:45 pm: Mobile Filmmaking: How To Make A Movie Using A SmartPhone

You have heard of smartphone cameras being used to shoot movies, but you may still not be convinced that you can make a movie yourself using your very own smartphone. Come meet with San Diego Mobile Filmmakers sharing the ins and outs of what you need to get started as a Mobile Filmmaker. Do you need an app? Can you use microphones? How do you stabilize your videos for a smoother more professional look? Do you need a million dollars? Panelists will answer your questions and present some cool filmmaking tools and accessories. It has been thirty years since the last known murder by the Fox Creek Carver. Over time the killer has become a local legend. Four local college students go deep into the woods to conduct a research project on the infamous, gruesome deaths, but soon realize that the spree of the Fox Creek Carver never ended.
