Sure, you don't want to wait until the last minute but I find that earlier-the-better does not apply when it's too far out. Unless there's a REALLY big event (like SDCC big, not ECCC big) prices on domestic flights usually go up and down until about 4-6 weeks before the event, and this far out is usually too early for a lot of the special pricing to kick in. I generally find the best pricing for ECCC around October or November. Last year I booked in November and though I got a great deal at $118 r/t...but a couple weeks later the price went down to $98!A major sporting event is not going to raise the prices four days earlier. One day earlier, maybe. I stand by it being too early & I fully expect the prices to drop significantly. (I just checked SEA to SJC prices on Alaska for the rest of March and April -- all of them are currently that expensive except on Tuesdays.)
Hey all, I'll be a guest at Emerald City Comic Con March 14-17, 2019. And I've opened up my commission list. If you're interested, here's the link. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login … Hope to see you there! #ECCC #2019 #Commissions
Which Hyatt?
I know that Mario Wario has stayed at the Hyatt for the past couple of years and likes it, so I'm up for a new experience. The Sheraton was always about convenience for me, and now there's a definite convenience 'split' between the Sheraton and Hyatt.
I usually spend 1 full day in the Main Stage room and go there for at least part of the other days as well. My roommate decided that she would prefer proximity to the Main Stage as well, so we are moving to the Hyatt. My guess is that the ECCC guests will also be housed at the Hyatt, to make it convenient for them to get to the autographs/photo ops/panels. This hotel ECCC is using is brand new, so I don't know how this one is, but a buddy of mine just stayed there for work and he liked it a lot! Just know you will be paying more compared to the Sheraton or Grand Hyatt. As for the Regency brand itself, I like it just the other Hyatt hotels. No problems to speak of.
Actually, the Hyatt Regency (179/night) is a couple bucks cheaper than the Sheraton (182) and Grand Hyatt (185)
At the time I looked, which was last week due to my friend staying there, it was not. But you aren’t saving much, according to your post.
The con rates haven't changed since hotels went up, perhaps the regular rates are more expensive though
