Crockett Johnson's classic strip combined fantasy and satire, a child's feeling of wonder and an adult's wariness, with highly literate jokes and a keen eye for the ridiculous. Johnson's biographer Philip Nel is joined by Eric Reynolds, co-editor of Fantagraphics's Barnaby series, cartoonist Jeff Smith (Bone), and moderator Thomas Spurgeon (The Comics Reporter). They'll talk about why the strip remains so influential and its place in the history of great American comics.

The late Ray Zone was known as the "King of 3-D Comic Books," creating 3-D conversions for over 300 comics, including many underground books that he published under his banner "The 3-D Zone," featuring such artists as Robt. Williams, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, and Basil Wolverton. Zone also hosted a Los Angeles cable-access TV show in the early 1980s where he interviewed many of his artist collaborators. Eric Kurland (CEO of 3-D Space) and Lawrence Kaufman (chairman of the National Stereoscopic Association) will be joined by several of Ray Zone's friends and colleagues to take a look a look at his 3-D underground work, including video interviews from The Zone Show, not seen in over 30 years and only recently discovered and digitized.
