Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick, Hall H, 12:15pm-1:15pm
« on: June 23, 2013, 05:15:01 PM »
Universal Pictures presents an all-star panel featuring talent from two of its highly anticipated summer films. In attendance will be stars and filmmakers from the action-comedy Kick-Ass 2. Attending from Riddick will be the action-adventure's star/producer Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6), along with actors Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Dave Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists) and Riddick's writer/director David Twohy (The Fugitive).
Friday July 19, 2013 12:15pm - 1:15pm
Hall H

Looks like Jim Carrey will not be involved with promotions for KA2. I was hoping to see what he would do if attended the panel.

Is Kick Ass going to be at SDCC?

I hope that is a good movie. Though I think Carrey has gotten washed up.

I think that what Jim Carrey said was actually pretty respectful. He isn't putting the movie down, but seemed more introspective about the level of violence in America (here due to Sandy Hook) and the sadness and regret it brought him (perhaps feeling that movie violence is contributing to things like that). He isn't saying it's a bad movie.

Anyway, I am going to try to be there. My friends are holding a Kick-Ass party for the release in August, and I am still excited about it.

This saddens me - I was really excited to see Carrey in this movie and I was hoping he would make it to comic con to promote it. :(

He is still in the movie. Just distancing himself from promotions and the press junkets. The movie will still be good IMO.

Is Kick Ass going to be at SDCC?

I would be fairly surprised if KICK-ASS 2 wasn't at SD CCI.  The original KICK-ASS film is a story that revolves around Comic-Con.  When they brought footage to Comic-Con several years ago, the film was finished but had no distributer because studios thought it was not profitable to have an R-rated comic book movie adaptation w/over-the-top violence and a "little girl" dropping f-bombs while slicing and dicing bad guys.  So director Matthew Vaughn brought footage to SD CCI, ENCOURAGED fans to video the footage and brag about it on facebook & youtube, and the rest is history.  Within a few days of KICK-ASS owning Comic-Con Vaughn had a bidding war on his hands, got distribution, etc.

So, I suspect Kick-Ass will have a presence, even if there is no Jim Carrey on board.
