Title: Hannibal, Saturday, July 11th, 5:00pm-5:45pm, Ballroom 20

Even without the stars there last year, this was one of my favorite panels. Bryan Fuller is THE MAN. Of course, it also helped that I walked out of that panel with a signed script and DVD plus other goodies  ;D

Too lazy to look right now but what day was this panel last year? This is on of my favorite shows running and I only have badges for Thursday and Sunday.

Variety is reporting that the show has been cancelled.  What a big bummer for Hannibal fans!

I don't know, I kind of thought the panel would be cancelled.  Why would NBC pay to send them there now?

Plus we'll be in the middle of season 3 during SDCC anyway. Might as well keep the panel scheduled.

Was just coming to link this! WHEW!!! Its going to be so bittersweet. Plus, when I'm tired, I have a tendency to cry about anything. Fingers crossed this is Thursday before con tired kicks in so that I don't cry like a baby at the panel.

Definitely a bummer for sure but not a surprise about the cancellation. I was wondering why when NBC announced the panels for their shows that they didn't include Hannibal. The ratings were pretty subpar for season 3 and I think fan response hasn't been as super positive as well, seeing how slow the episodes have been. But I'm glad they're still going to do a panel at CC anyway. I hope they can still do a panel in Ballroom 20 like last year.

This isn't over.  I'm not going to let this be over.  I've participated in far too many fan campaigns to let the best show on TV become a victim of bad network decisions.

I'm going to be writing an extensive article tonight and I know shameless self promotion is frowned upon a bit, but I intend on it being a one stop shop for this Save Our Show campaign.  Hope it's ok if I post it here when it's done.

I refuse to let this show die.  REFUSE.

They're adverse to bad ratings which it all boils down to.

I feel like there's no way it won't get picked up by some other network (Hulu? Netflix? Amazon? PLEASE?), but this is still heartbreaking.

All the Hannibal events at SDCC just got a lot more crowded, that's for sure. While it was always going to be my main priority there, I think now I won't even feel bad at all if I have to miss something else I like to go to the Hannibal panel/etc.

I'm really hoping for a viewing party or some other kind of meet up or celebration with the cast/crew and fannibals, especially now! Think it might be a teary one.

Save Hannibal.

This is such depressing (yet not altogether unexpected) news. Someone NEEDS to pick it up for season 4, and from the sound of things Bryan and Martha De Laurentiis are going to try their darndest to get us onto a new network. In any event, I'm sure the panel will be amazing. Bryan loves the fans, and I have no doubt he will pull out all the stops for us. And I can't wait to be there to show my support!

Contact information for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are in my article What Can We Do To #SaveHanniba (http://thegeekiary.com/what-can-we-do-to-savehannibal/25410)l? Sorry for the self promotion, but I made lots of phone calls to compile this info and I think others can benefit from it.

How can Hannibal be cancelled?  Are they averse to good tv?

There are several issues at hand: 1) #1 reason is bad ratings. 2) the show is not owned by NBC so they get no money from future syndication or from international sales. 3) the showrunner, Bryan Fuller, has no deal past season 3. 4) it's been theorized that the cast/crew contracts will expire June 30th which is why NBC is making the announcement now as opposed to waiting a few more episodes. 5) they cannot get the rights to the Clarice Starling character (owned by MGM) so creatively, there's no canon story to be told after season 3 so they're a bit stuck (season 3 ends with Red Dragon and up next is Silent of the Lambs but they can't tell that story without the Clarice character), 6) Bryan Fuller has a new show, American Gods for Starz channel, and may theoretically be too tied up to fully work on a Hannibal season 4.

It's strange, I sort of made peace with the show's ending a couple days ago. I read all the recent articles and interviews with Bryan and it seems like he was strongly hinting that season 3 could be the last season. I know he has said that he has an idea of what to do with season 4 but if it's not Silence of the Lambs, will they end up treading water creatively?

I have an incredible amount of faith that this show won't go stale.  It deserves to keep going.  Poor Bryan Fuller is cursed.  He's brilliant but networks just don't put enough faith in him.

Title: Re: Hannibal confirmed!
Post by: omraged9 on June 22, 2015, 11:29:38 PM
I've been a fan of Bryan's since Wonderfalls (2004) and I don't feel he's cursed. I think it was pretty amazing that we've gotten 3 seasons out of Hannibal and I feel NBC actually has treated the show relatively well compared to most shows that have low ratings. NBC could have stopped showing the rest of season 3 since the ratings are bad enough but I applaud them for sticking it out for the rest of the season. Bryan's had much worse treatment from Fox with Wonderfalls when the show got moved after 3-4 weeks and then cancelled after 4 episodes aired and the rest of the season was only seen after the DVD came out.

I think it was 2012 when Bryan presented his two NBC shows at his Comic Con panel that year where they showcased Mockingbird Lane and Hannibal. It was Mockingbird Lane that got multi-million dollar budget for the pilot and was presented first before Hannibal. It looked like NBC had more expectations for Mockingbird Lane and Hannibal was a slight after-thought. The pilot for Mockingbird Lane was already shot but they hadn't even cast Hannibal yet. I remember viewing the clips and thinking Mockingbird Lane looked pretty cool and wasn't sure how Hannibal would go. I wasn't really a fan of the Hannibal franchise either. But I was intrigued by the Red Dragon aspect/focus. We all know what happened with the two shows after that. Fast forward to now. I've developed a huge amount of respect for the franchise now and Bryan blew my mind with his creativity and storytelling with the show. I am so excited for the upcoming Red Dragon storyline (awesome casting with Richard Armitage) and I am happy that they were at least able to finish out the storyline that Bryan always wanted to do.  My point is, the show went above and beyond anyone's expectations creatively. The show got more seasons/episodes than his two previous shows combined even with its low ratings. Bryan is not cursed. He's done the show he set out to do (Red Dragon). He may have had ideas for 6-7 seasons but we all knew it wasn't guaranteed. I'm happy we got what we got and if the show lives on on a different network, even if we never get Silence of the Lambs, I'll definitely support and watch the show. If it doesn't, I'm thankful for what we got.

Oops, I forgot to mention that I'm also thankful Bryan had the foresight to combine the Hannibal on the run & Red Dragon seasons into season 3 instead of following his original plan of Hannibal on the run for season 3 and Red Dragon for season 4. I can't imagine if we never got to see the Red Dragon part; that would have been horrible and crushing.

I'm thankful for what we got too but I'm desperate to save it.  We're all geeks here.  We all have things we get overly passionate about to an extreme degree.  This one is mine.  I'm strangely more known in the Supernatural fandom, but my heart lies with Hannibal and while I respect people more passive thoughts on letting the show go.... I can't.  I'm way too invested.  I need more.  I can't let this end at three seasons.

I'm actually glad that Hannibal has so many diehard, passionate fans and if it helps in saving the show, I'm all for it. I think the cast of Hannibal is great and if Bryan has a cool idea for season 4, I'm sure season 4 will be as good as the previous seasons even if it's non-canon.

It sounds like to me that they have the best shot with Amazon since Amazon has the current rights to air the show for several years. I would have preferred Netflix but it sounds like their current Amazon deal would prevent the show from signing a contract with Netflix since Netflix generally has exclusive rights to air their shows on Netflix only. So I wonder, is it better to focus the 'save the show' campaign on Amazon as opposed to trying to write to all the streaming companies (Netflix, Hulu, Yahoo, etc.)?

I really like the idea of doing something as fans at the panel to show the cast/ creators our support and how much the show means to us. Nothing comes to my mind off-hand... so yeah, can we start a brain-storming session?

Yeah, same here, I really want to do this!

Off the top of my head, some options are:
Holding up signs that all say the same message. They can be 8.5x11 with just printed text so it'd be easy to make, just raise some awareness online then hand them out before the panel.
Have everyone wear a flower crown? again, we'd need to get the message out and probably provide a lot of them, so that one might get spendy.
Or, have everyone wear stag antlers, but that one might get difficult.

Any thoughts, more ideas?

If we want to do flower crowns, I wouldn't mind chipping in a large chunk of change to bring/ help distribute extras. If we wanted to pass out #savehannibal (or something) signs, I'm down for that too... I assume some of you folks have more social media presence than me (since I have basically none lol), so whatever gets decided if you want to spread the word that'd be cool!

We can of course keep hashing out some other ideas, but I think flower crowns could be relatively easy to distribute and certainly provide a visual impact! Especially if we can manage to get some to the cast/crew... I know Bryan wore one from a fan in the panel a couple years ago :)

On handing out stuff for the panel.

Be careful when you do this, I was at the Fringe panel and handing out those "White Tulips sheets" almost got some people thrown out of the hall, no joke. Security can be very picky about what gets handed out, if the show is not doing it.

Don't get me wrong, it was great and the panel guests really appreciated it, but doing it discreetly or letting SDCC know will probably help with the process.

Oh really? I hadn't seen that, but it's good news for me! (no plans Saturday so far!). If true, with Grimm and Outlander as the panels before it, I'm sure those fandoms will be well represented, but so far it doesn't look like anything too crazy is going on in B20 that day. I think a lot of folks will be heading to the Hall H line for the DC TV takeover Saturday night as well, which should make things easier.

Saturday? That is odd. Or at least I've never done B20 on Saturday either. I was going to stick to offsites on Saturday but if nothing else crazy gets put in there it should be fairly easy to get in. Last year for B20, even with Teen Wolf in front of it, I walked in at 1:30 with about a 20 minute wait.

Haha wow.  Saturday is going to be nuts for me.  Babylon 5 fan panel at some point, Hannibal panel at 5, press panel at 6:50, NBC party at 7 which I'm obviously going to be late to ironically because I'm more devoted to Hannibal than the network that just cancelled it lol sorry NBC.

So, do we want to make the flower crown wearing/ distributing official? If so, and we've got some active Fannibals on the boards, we should start spreading the news quickly since we've got just a couple weeks. I actually went and read up on the white tulip for fringe thing that Jim Watari posted, and it seemed pretty cool. We could do something similar... Get the word out that we will all be showing support by wearing the crowns at the panel, and ask that if anyone has the means to bring extras to distribute to folks in their immediate area, they do so. The creators come out, everyone with a crown stands up in an act of solidarity... I think this could be awesome.

Let me know your thoughts everyone! I could see what CCI says about us distributing them if it is indeed what you folks would like to do :)

Truthfully, could have been a better tweet, but it is the end of my day at work and brain isn't functioning at full capacity right now. LOL
Will try to think of better tweet later.

I think that sounds great!
And I can see why they wouldn't have liked the paper thing, but since flower crowns are just something you wear (a lot already do to this panel anyway!) and they aren't very distracting/disruptive in and of themselves it shouldn't be a problem! Especially if we can raise awareness and plan to give handouts to people who need them before we get into the hall. Then a couple last minute passing around before the panel if necessary.
We could still tell CCI, but if we do we should make sure we explain it like that so they know we won't be obnoxious or anything.

Before we officially start promoting this we should plan out the details.
I think the best way to do this would be to have some volunteers try to race to the mic so we get someone first on each mic (is there more than one? I can't remember), that way when they go to questions we can have the first person give a prepared introduction, including a cue, and then have everyone stand up. And then give each panel member a crown as well. (we need to make those special!)

It'd actually be great if we could get CCI in on it, so they could tell the lighting tech to be ready and turn on the house lights on cue! Because I'm kind of worried flower crowns aren't super noticeable? Unless literally everyone is wearing one. We'll just need to mention it so they know to look for them.

Also it'd be fun to be able to keep this a surprise, but I feel like that's hard when they're all on social media so often looking at our posts!

Sorry for the double post, but some more thoughts -

What if they do an offsite fan meetup that is before the panel? I think doing the flower crowns at the panel would make more of a statement, but if we're going to hold out for that then we need to make sure not everyone who has a flower crown for the panel wears it to the meetup.

Also I'd be happy to organize this and make a writeup to release publicly and all that if you guys want, but I'll definitely need help with details (who can be contacted for spare flower crowns, what the cue will be, how to best inform CCI, etc) and then promoting and getting the word out!
Title: Re: Hannibal confirmed!

I'm hearing lots of great ideas in your posts :). I was thinking along the same line as you were in giving them special flower crowns - like you can buy fakes online pretty cheaply ($10 or less...) maybe we could get real flowers for the cast crowns from somewhere in SD. It sounds like a lot to coordinate, but if we get enough folks involved it is likely doable.

As far as a meetup, I'd probably be game. We'd just need to make sure it's early enough to give everyone time to get over to (and into!) the panel. A Hannibal breakfast, perhaps? I can buy a bulk amount of crowns to help out. If it's gonna happen for sure, count me in for around 25 spare crowns, depending on how cheaply I can find them, hah.

I'm planning on asking a question already as I'll be cosplaying Mason Verger (anyone at the panel last year might remember my Will Graham) so I wanna show off my duds, haha... In my experience everyone at comic con is so gracious that even if the person representing our group wasn't the first person over, the other folks in line might be willing to concede their spot since they are obviously big fans as well, and they'd still get to ask their question (just maybe a few spots later)

Er, if this may be the last Hannibal panel, I'd rather the focus be on more the panelists than on the panel attendees/fans. I'd think it'd be more beneficial to ask Bryan specifically what us fans can do to help save the show than be too pre-occupied with the flower crowns which may look great but can distract from the cause.

I like these ideas and have a decently large Twitter following.  Almost 3800 on my blog, almost 1100 on my personal.  Write up something and I'll post.  My blog has already become a voice in the movement so I'm happy to promote it.  If we get an image (a great way around the 140 character limit) let me know and I'll share it.

Also id really love a flower crown and hope I can reserve one lol.  I don't want to be left out.  This show means the world to me.

This whole thing will probably take up 5 minutes at the very most, out of a one hour panel. And the entire point is to thank the panelists for everything they've done and to show our support for them! I understand not wanting to distract from the panel or the fact the show still needs saving, but I do not think this will do that.

Oh I think you misunderstood me, I wasn't trying to start a meetup of just fans. In 2013 there was an official Fannibal meet up hosted at Nerd HQ (which was not the proper venue for that tbh) with Bryan and cast in attendance, giveaways and Q&A, etc. So I was just saying that if they do something like that again and it happens to be before the panel, I don't want to spoil the fun surprise by having everyone show up to that meetup in their flower crowns! Save them for the panel!
But it may be a good idea to arrange a small meet up for Fannibals who don't have flower crowns so they can pick them up or ask questions about the plan. Like Friday night after programming maybe? We'd really only need a basic meeting spot and one person to collect up all extra crowns and distribute them. I can probably do that, but the more the merrier!

And alright, Angel, I'll start now and PM you in a bit with a link!

Y'all are so awesome and on this! Please let me know what kind of help you might need. I could put a few bucks towards crowns. It would be awesome if they do a meet up as well. I don't necessarily think that everyone showing up at a meetup with the crowns would diminish it at the panel. It would be a double impact if they saw a medium size group all with crowns and then walk into the panel with even more people people in their crowns.

Alright guys, I've got an early day tomorrow so I'm done for the night - no post yet because I'm still considering the papers idea along with the flower crowns for a better visual impact. And I'd like to get all that figured out so I can email CCI and pitch the final idea before publicly announcing it. I know we're on a time crunch though, so I'm hoping to get all that done quickly!
Any more ideas and suggestions are welcome!

Other than that I'll let you know when I hear back from CCI, and then it's promoting time!
And sorry for taking over this thread haha

I've seen mutterings on Twitter that Mads Mikkelsen is going to go even though he wasn't announced before.  Can't find a source.

If so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a heart attack in the press room.  That man is unreal.  I'm going to cry if I get to see him with my own eyes.

But I need confirmation.

Edit: false alarm.  Oh well.  It's still going to be awesome.

There's quite a few options on Etsy to buy a bulk amount of crowns at a fairly reasonable price. I could buy a large supply so we have a good number on hand to start and then we could just put out in the "official" post that folks can bring their own and possibly a few extras to help out... I think B20 holds about 4500, and of course not everyone there will be willing to don a flower crown but to cover even 1/4 we'll need to get the word spread out there!

If we are all in accord, I can put an order out as soon as today, just to be sure that it arrives in plenty of time... I know I said 25 earlier, but after looking I can probably get 50+. I can take this on myself; if people would prefer to pool $ together we can do that and I can put in an even larger order... whatever works!

Do we have any DIY folks who could take on making real crowns for the panelists? If that seems too ambitious, we could  figure something else out.

My two cents - If people wearing the crowns actually stand up to greet the panelists, that will be pretty visually impactful!

Yes.  Let's all stand up and give them a standing ovation both as they come out and at the end of the panel.  They deserve it.

hahahaha oh wow I did not realize B20 held like 5,000 people. I thought it was like half that. We are really in for it, huh? I guess that just makes it more impressive of a feat if we pull it off!

If we're going to do a standing ovation at the beginning, maybe we could just do the signs then? Then we wouldn't even need to have everyone memorize a cue, just tell everyone the plan and make sure the front few rows lead by example! And make sure we cheer loudly since we can't clap with full hands.
If we wanted to explain to the panelists we wouldn't even really need to get to the mic, just make them a sign with an explanation on the back, and hand it up with the flower crowns for them. For those I'm thinking fake flowers is fine so they can keep them, they just need to look pretty and maybe be themed? For Hugh (blood splatter) and Richard (red for Red Dragon), at least. We could attach little name tags on them as well. (And you know maybe make a nice one to set aside for Mads just in case maybe???)
I am going out today to get some crown supplies. I have never made one before and I'm not very crafty so I have no idea how well it will go, so I'm just going to make mine first. If that turns out okay I'd be happy to do some (maybe not all?) for the panelists and make some more simple extras as well. We need A LOT, so anyone who wants to make some cheap ones or buy in bulk or what have you, please do! I think we could use as many as we can get. I will host a little meet up for crown distribution Friday night so if you're bringing extra you can join me or I can pick them up from you beforehand. And I think it'd be a good idea to pass them out to the B20 line before they get into the room that morning so that all those people in the front will be covered for sure!
5,000 papers is a lot, so I'm going to need some help with that too. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday evening we can take over a nearby printing center? I'll need help with collecting them all up, finding something to keep them in, and getting them back to my hotel. I don't mind keeping them in my room. Oh and probably gonna need help paying for them, too..If they're standard printing/copy price that's 10 cents each page which will total $500. I'm sure there's some way we can get it cheaper, so I'll be researching that, but yeah.. EDIT: Looking right now at an Office Depot near downtown that could print 5000 flyers for $250, and there's a $40 off coupon right now too so $210 total. It's pay online and pick up in the store, we'd probably just need to order at least a few days ahead of time. I'll give the store a call soon. If anybody likes that idea and would like to chip in a little please let me know!
Or to save money we may want to consider encouraging people print and bring their own, and then print about half to supplement? I'm a little weary of that one because I want the pages to look nice and be completely uniform, but I'm not trying to make any of us have to put down a fortune for this.

So right now I'm off to email CCI (done!), start making crowns, and finish up the post so it's ready once we hear back. I'll keep you guys updated!

Yeah.  They said it interfered with the blogger party.  Which yes it does.  But we've known that for at least two weeks.  So I'm not entirely sold on that excuse.

Sorry I'm really bitter towards NBC right now.

OKAY!!
I heard back from CCI quickly earlier, they told me that they think it's great that we would show our support by standing with flower crowns. But, due to safety concerns they cannot allow us to pass out anything to the line or in the panel room, and they do not have any extra staff that can do it for us. So the only option we are allowed is to try and distribute all of the crowns and papers beforehand, outside of the building. I mentioned having a meetup to do that and they graciously offered to let us use a meeting room in the MGH, so we're scheduled there 7:00 - 8:00pm Friday night! At that time anyone with extra crowns can drop them off, those who need them can pick them up, and everyone can get a paper!

Now we really need to start promoting so that all the Fannibals know what's going on! I made a post for us, so that can be the one stop reference for everyone! It's here (http://hannibalucifer.tumblr.com/post/122401952021/). I also started a hashtag: #B20FannibalTakeover! And, I added a survey link for people to RSVP for the meetup. You guys should fill it out too if you're going! Though I don't really expect any RSVPs until after this weekend when people know their schedules better. I'd just like to see how many people for sure want to come get supplies from us. I'm thinking it may not be necessary to print out many papers since I made the page available for everyone to print their own, and we can't pass them out inside.

Am I missing anything? Besides my flower crown? ;D

Wow, I am really impressed, both with Dancetomusic's work and effort and CCI's response! You guys are awesome! I hope the creators of Hannibal understand how involved you really are in this show.

ETA. If you want a bit more publicity, you can put this out there on the blogosphere. I'm sure Kerry would be happy to post to SDCCBlog, and I could get Valerie at ComicConGuide to post something.

It sounds like Amazon is the best way to go. Netflix seems the least likely choice of the 3 streaming companies due to the Amazon's streaming rights for all Hannibal's seasons and maybe even future seasons (Netflix seems to demand exclusivity for their own shows)... Fun episode tonight I have to say.

It's very strange but I'm getting the impression after reading the new Variety article and a couple other articles that it's highly unlikely any of the streaming companies would able to take on Hannibal. Even if Amazon wanted Hannibal (NBC's licensing fee is 185K for season 3), the international support might drop out because some of them are there due to NBC's involvement (limited broadcast in US only and I presume their marketing support as well). No information about Hulu's possible interest but the latter still holds true if Hulu tries to take the show. So if anything, it sounds like it might be better to try to aim for a cable channel instead at least the cable channel's broadcast of the show won't interfere with international broadcasts. Maybe Brian can clarify at the Hannibal panel.

Sure thing, I should have some time on Thursday! Thanks! PM me later and we can figure out the details (:

We've got 40 RSVPs right now. A lot needing flower crowns!

Tonight I'll be contacting some more popular Hannibal-themed tumblr and twitter users in hopes of getting some more signal boosts! I think maybe we'll get more attention once the panel is on the schedule tomorrow? And I think we should utilize the twitter frenzy next week while everyone is live tweeting/blogging the episode on Thursday.

The panel is confirmed, right place, time, and panelists!

Also, the description says "...as well as a few other surprises along the way." !!!

Any guesses?

I will be hoping for Mads Mikkelsen until either he shows up or the panel ends. But I know they like to give out scripts and merch and whatnot, so maybe they're counting some of that stuff as a surprise? Or showing cool BTS footage from season 3?

How are people feeling about getting into this panel? I'm thinking because its the last of the day it might be fairly easy to wander in by Outlander, or be in line by then at least. Should I aim for two panels before? I'm really trying to keep most of Saturday open for offsites.

As the person organizing this whole thing I feel obligated to be in the front (and like who doesn't want to be in the front anyway), so I may camp. For me it's not worth risking trying to do anything else beforehand and then possibly not making it in!

But yeah last year it was pretty easy to get in. Like, I showed up in line in the afternoon and had a short wait before making it inside B20 during Reign, then sat through Community and Teen Wolf before Hannibal. I was surprised at how quickly I got in.

And this year the previous panels are kind of blocked by different genres. Like people will come for OUAT then leave after that or TV Guide, then others will watch The Simpson and Seth McFarlane and then leave, people will want to see Grimm and Outlander and then leave. Especially with nothing after Hannibal, the only people in the room are going to be the ones who want to be there - none waiting for other panels. So it should be easy to get in!

Yeah, last year I got into B20 pretty easily. I was aiming to be in there for Community, Hannibal, and Penny Dreadful. I thought the Teen Wolf factor would make it much harder, but took me 20 minutes I think and I was there in time for Community.

This is my BF's first year going and so far Saturday morning is lining up as the only time we're both not in different places all day. Trying to square that time off for some offsite fun.

I've opted for a camp free con this year. (Getting up at like 3am for Hall H on Sunday though. But closeness for SPN is not super important to me this year since I'm going to DenverCon in November.) I do not want to miss Hannibal if its the last panel. Going to aim for walking in at about the start of Outlander, but I'm going to monitor the B20 twitter all day and change plans accordingly.

Yeah I don't think I want to do an all-nighter, especially since I think there will be lots of people leaving before Hannibal so moving up closer shouldn't be hard. I may just show up really early.

Or maybe not even too too early? I want to be awake for the panel! I was struggling to stay awake in the afternoon last year when I camped for Hall H cuz I only got 2 hours of sleep on the ground.

So I am conflicted as well.

I think to make it into the panel, there'd be almost no wait time. Last year I don't think the room was filled up and this year, the panel is last of the day. To get a good seat, you'd probably have to get in at least 2-3 panels ahead of time. I'd expect a mass exodus after the animation block finishes.

Hi all! I started a thunderclap to promote the Hannibal tribute we are planning. Not sure if everyone knows what that is, but basically it's a campaign that people can sign up for and then a post about the tribute will be made on their behalf on Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr. The cool thing is that all of the posts will be made automatically at the same time, so it can help with getting it trending and such. I also included a #savehannibal hashtag in the post, to help get that trending as well!

I set the deadline as 7/7 at 7pm EST (all the posts will go out then), so we can get the word out just before comic con begins. Please support if you are able, it only takes a moment! And spread the word :) http://thndr.it/1g6qj3Z

Thanks. Hah and yeah I tried to explain but I did kind of a bad job. Basically, if at least 100 people support it then on July 7th at 7pm,  the following message will go out from the Twitter/Facebook/tumblr account of everyone who supports the campaign:

"ATTN #SDCC ATTENDEES: Special tribute planned for #Hannibal panel on 7/11! #B20FannibalTakeover #SaveHannibal thndr.it/1eXJT29”

So it's like a huge, synchronized tweet.

Yeah! I got the idea from the Twin Peaks fan site: http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/events/savetwinpeaks-social-media-thunderstorm/

I think it may be beneficial to do another one after this one is over to try and just get #SaveHannibal trending again, and then add like @netflix, @hulu, and @amazon tags so that they get a bunch of tweets directed to them at once. It probably would take a lot of advertising to get enough people signed up to make an impact, though.

The Thunderclap is a great idea!

Though I'd hold off on the #SaveHannibal one, and mentioning streaming services.
A lot of tumblr users are putting a lot of effort into figure out the complicated science of trending and the best way to do it! There have been hashtag switches, like to #HelpHannibal and #LetHannibalLive. Don't want any one effort to go too stale, I guess. Also to make a big impact with a trend like that you need to stay trending a long time and the different factors are counted (original tweets, reach, etc).

But for our purposes the Thunderclap is good!

I did print up 1,000 copies. Not sure if I will have time to do anymore. Who should I hand them off to?

What's the status of flower crowns? I plan on showing up at the room where things are going to be passed out.  My goal is to get a crown (which I will wear the the NBC press party without shame).

You can definitely swing by and pick one up!

Honestly I'm note even sure how many we'll have (no one has told me numbers) but I know that there are least 4 people donating multiple crowns. I'll be bringing in at least 5, aiming for 10-15.

According to the RSVP survey right now we are at 50 crowns needed. And we will probably get more RSVPs, and maybe people coming in without one..And if there's any extras it'd be great to take some into B20 to crown some people last minute.

So I sincerely hope we will have enough. If anyone's got a spare $10 and some free time, crown donations would be much appreciated!!

Just have a quick question about waiting in line and such. How does it work? Like, is there a line specifically for the Hannibal panel we'll be waiting in, or are people just going to try to get into Ballroom 20 a few panels before the Hannibal one? I'm just a little confused about the nuances of it, since it'll be my first Ballroom 20 panel.

Its just one line for ballroom 20 as a whole. They'll fill in the room as much as possible as people leave.  You should probably try to get in the morning considering the circumstances around the show.

I personally don't think you need to be there in the morning unless you want to be in the front row. It's the last panel of the day, so you aren't competing with people waiting for another panel. That being said-this is just my opinion, based on my experience. Read through this post, and come to your own conclusions though. There are varying opinions.

I agree. Based on the panels and my experience last year, I think B20 will be walk-in most of the day. Could be wrong though.

A good idea would be to stay tuned in to social media-there may be some clues there, at least about the line outside.

Absolutely, good tip! I will be doing this to see whether I have time for Muppets beforehand

I don't know if I'll be able to make it this year, but just letting you guys know that you can just ask for prizes if they give them out.
We ran into Bryan Fuller after the panel, and he gave us a few items (Dead Like Me T-Shirt, signed DVD, limited art print) just for asking for permission to go backstage.
I heard of several other people getting things by going in after the people with the tickets left.
It's worth a shot. :)

I'm hearing the lines just year as just as bad as previous years, as always. Do you all still think 2-3 hours in line is enough to get in? Or is the craziness just limited to Hall H.  ;D

Better to camp if you want to be absolutely certain. I was talking to the person working at the front of the Everything Else line earlier today and she said that people started lining up at 10:30 in the morning, so.... yeah, the craziness is definitely not limited to Hall H. PM me if you're interested in a line buddy. :)

B20 was walk-in for the panel last year, and that was when they had Penny Dreadful following them. You shouldn't have much problem getting in. But as always there's no guarantees... I'm shooting to get in during the outlander panel and I'll just monitor Twitter to be sure things are looking OK.

I haven't had any trouble getting into BR20 in the early afternoon. The only craziness I have heard about was for the Marvel panel. Just an update on what I have seen so far.

FYI I'm 3rd row.  Fannibals are out in force. Lots of people plan on leaving after Outlander so you should be able to get in but I'd say there are at least 200+ flower crowns or cosplayers scattered around the room and it's only 1pm.

That's both good and bad news lol. I'm getting slightly nervous; I'd be in there already but my wife is a HUGE Muppets fan so I've gotta stay for that; the nice thing is it's right across the way. We are gonna leave during the Q&A here to give us a few extra minutes... I'll feel pretty silly if I don't get in though ack!

Well things didn't go exactly as planned but it still ended up going really well!!

Hugh noticed on his own that everyone was in crowns, we got their crowns up to them, and they noticed the signs and told me how much they appreciated it later (:

Thanks for the help and participation everyone, great group effort!!

I ran into a girl with a Fannibal sign at the Fox Sports Grill on Saturday night. I asked her how the tribute went and she said it was awesome and went amazingly well. She showed me a picture she took of the actors wearing their flower crowns.

So there is feedback from a non-FoCCI person who attended the panel!

Congratulations to the people who organized this. It sounds like it was a big success!

It was a good time! I'm glad we were able to coordinate with everyone; you could see the signs everywhere! But I just wish they had gotten a longer panel! 45 minutes was not nearly long enough, it flew by.

@dancetomusic, when were you able to see them afterwards? I wanted to do the signing on Sunday, but my wife was spent by Saturday night and I decided I'd let her sleep. I really wanted to talk to Bryan! I had a question at the panel but they didn't announce how questions worked for folks who got in the room during outlander so once I got over there it was far too late. Last year, you couldn't line up between panels. Hopefully I'll see him promoting American Gods in the near future!

I saw them at the signing on Sunday. I brought my sign as my item instead of the art book so it got them talking about it.
Bryan stood up and gave me a hug for it, and Hugh asked my name and then personalized his signature "To Misha - Thank you! With love, Hugh Dancy xo" which he wasn't doing for anyone else!! And they were verbally thanking me too but it's hard to remember their exact words, stuff like that always just becomes an excited blur in my mind lol

I wish I was better at figuring out the right thing to say in the moment. I should have given my explanation for the signs - that we will all continue to love and support them and the show no matter where it goes. I mean, the signs kinda speak for themselves, but still.
I was gonna go up and say that before my question but yeah the line was already too long by the time I was going to get up. I think that question line process was new this year?? I did't like it.

I wasn't a fan of the process either. Last year they said during the panel when it was time to line up for questions and I was like 6th in line; it was much easier. I wish they had given a heads up that things changed. Glad to hear you got in at the signing though! Makes up for it a bit :)

I only saw it in Ballroom 20-they had a line on the right as you face the front, and then send one person at a time to ask their question. I think since it worked that way at every panel I saw in BR20, I thought people were sitting there in the area next to it waiting and jumping in line. Or are you saying people were already in line for Hannibal questions during Outlander? That's not cool.

However-I did like that they had everyone lining up on the side, out of view of the stage. It's always a bummer when you think you have a great seat, only to have the lineup block your view (although at SDCC-they are pretty good about kneeling or sitting until their turn is up, but I know everyone can't physically do that). I try to scout where the lineup will be, so it isn't in my way, but am not always successful. I am not faulting the people lining up at all-I just try to avoid having them in my line of sight.
