I'm curious about the Syfy party at Solamar?  Any thoughts on getting into this one.

I've been invited and, honestly, you have to have a business relationship with Syfy.  They hand out wristbands to invited guests and the guards check pretty carefully.  There are only two entrances to it and it's well-guarded.

I know some invited guests couldn't get in last year because it was over capacity.

I love the party, though, and hope I can swing an invitation this year.

Yep, went to Magicians last year and the Haven one in the past, and can second that they like to keep it intimate and mostly to folks with business ties to SyFy.

At my last Comic Con (2014) I got into 2 Geek and Sundry parties, including an awesome Magic the Gathering one.

My brother is really into Magic and this will be our first SDCC, and was hoping to find out more about what goes on at the magic events.  is it just tournaments?  feel free to email me or PM me,  [email protected]

I just want to meet the women of the magicians cast.  Not to fanboy out, mostly just to hit on em 🤣

This is a great idea! I'm going to look back on all my old emails and see when and what sources some of these events had.. Don't want to miss out on a few of the parties.. The fandom on top of hard rock was the best!

Yeah j did that one last year.  Was probably one of the first 30 in line.  Was really unorganized at first.  Me and my buddies made sure we hit the open bar fast before it got busy haha.

I forget how I found out about it! My group ended up getting one of the lounge sofas and parked it there all night.. Well most the night.. I wish I left early to go to the mtv fandom awards.. I really wanted a blue chair lol got two yellows the prior year

Did you go to any other fun events off-site?

How did you guys get into that one? I was at the Hard Rock, staring longingly from my room window...

I believe I just happened to see an rsvp link on twitter. It closed quick and you could only RSVP for one.

I RSVP'd for that one. Went there around opening time, very long line, waited about 15 minutes but the line didn't move a smidge. So I left and walked right into Nerd Nite where they had free dinner and an open bar.

An event put on by National Geographic (or I guess NatGeo now)! Honestly, I found the presentations not that engaging, but it was a nice relaxing way to end the night.

Nice! Sadly, I don't think having Syfy as part of my TV package counts as a business relationship.  Guess I'll have to wish and watch this party from afar.
