Panel Speculation for 2019
« on: November 11, 2018, 01:19:29 AM »
Anyone have any ideas regarding what panels may be at SDCC in 2019? I know sometimes you can make educated guesses based on new releases, but I'm never in the know about those things.

This one's tough...next year is the 50th, but it's also a D23 year, which historically means no Marvel Studios presence...so I honestly don't know...

If anything, I'd *love* to see a "50 Years of SDCC" panel...that'd be in H, and the lines for it would start freakin' weeks ahead of time.

I honestly can't wait...got a buddy of mine tix through a buying group and his first SDCC experience will be SDCC50...this is gonna rock.

I think it depends on when they air that final season. If they air it in the spring, I think it's unlikely that they will have a SDCC panel. But if it airs in summer or fall, chances go up.

Does it matter that D23 is at the end of August and not July?

Historically, Marvel Studios presence is low (if not at all) during D23.  But being that next year is the 50th, all bets are off.  It's gonna be crazy.  Forget the exclusive and special 50th merch, but all the possible panels over the 50 years.  A literal ton will be happening.

Make your top 10 list of things to do...accept that you'll get to only 3 on that list :)

Last D23 year (2017) Marvel was there. They brought Ragnarok and Black Panther cast. It's always about what they got to show. If they have stuff, doesnt matter what else is going on event wise, they will bring it. Fiege has been pretty adamant about his love for SDCC and commitment to bringing presentations if they have stuff to show.

Amazing tribute panels for John Rogers & Stan Lee.

If they don't have a memorial panel for Stan Lee, I think Marvel fans would revolt.

Yes!  In Hall H, if not Petco Park.  I surely want to be there.

They just announced Game of Thrones will start in April, so even if it premieres the last weekend in April, it’ll most likely be done by June. I agree, I don’t think they’ll have a panel since it’ll be over (I wish they would though anyway!).

The Game of Thrones panels have always been after the season ended and before filming began. There were sometimes cast announcements but usually it was just a lot of banter.

They have the spinoffs/sequels/prequels in development so HBO may still want to promote the brand.

With Avengers 4 is wrapped up, we could get a panel about what's to come next.  We have some titles but not a lot of solid info.

Other stuff coming out late next year is Zombieland 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Joker, The Terminator (reboot), the Jumanji sequel (was the first one at SDCC? I don't recall), and the last Star Wars film of this series of films.

Sorry for the double post but it's been like a month since the last comment.  Anyway....

With the Stranger Things trailer dropping I'm wondering if it'll be out before or after SDCC.  I hope it's after so we can get something.  They deserve Hall H, honestly.  They can pull the crowd easily.
