Now debating whether to do all 4 days again or just do Fri-Saturday.

I decided this year to just get Fri/Sat because the hotel rooms are expensive.

Andrew, you can always check airbnb and get some quotes. Best to start now to get an idea

Except that last year New York passed legislation making it difficult to legally Airbnb in NYC.

Well in that case, his next best option would be to find a hotel outside Manhattan but that's nearby a subway so you won't have to travel too much.

What's the deal with having the pre-sale on a Sunday.  Have they ever done that before?  ???

Nope. And I feel like it is gonna be chaotic with internet traffic. Everyone will be off from. Work on Sunday and so we will be in queue forever. I wish it was on a Wednesday like how it used to be.

I'm planning on going to NYCC for the first time this year and was wondering how's it like compared to SDCC? Are studio presence and programming as extensive? Are hotels not as hard to get? Is it worth going all 4 days or just a few? Thanks!

Studio presence is much less, entertainment panels are TV almost never movies. Big TV panels are much fewer than at SDCC. I haven’t used hotels so I can’t speak to that. It’s definitely worth going all 4 days. If you get bored with the con you’re in NYC, plenty to do. :)

The venues where they have panels are a little more spread out than at SDCC, especially if they include Madison Square Garden like they have in the past. They went to a half online lottery system for the main stage panels at the convention center (Walking Dead and the movie panels were at MSG, which was first come, first served). They also had an online lottery for Lego, Funko and autograph sessions - that was a first last year, so I don't know if they'll do it again this year.

I don't use hotels either, but it doesn't really sound like booking a hotel is as scary as San Diego. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble finding a place to stay, although I'm sure it is expensive depending on where you stay.

It definitely has a different feel than SDCC. People camp out but not as much and maybe not all night (I'm not sure about this one). You basically wait outside the various buildings on the sidewalks, no tents (or grass) to shield yourself from the sun. If I go early or think I'll be waiting in lines for a while, I bring my portable chair with me - I don't like sitting right on the sidewalk.

Hotels are fairly easy to find. I had considered getting a hotel last year as I didnt want to keep commuting to and from Queens and I always saw something available within walking distance.  Public transportation is much more regular and comprehensive. Unless I need to pick up a package at a UPS facility, I can always get to where I am going

Marvel TV and Netflix always has a presence as does Hulu. Archer is always there. The main stage panels are mostly ballroom 6ish in quality.

Outside of the con, there is a TON to do. Harry Potter and Cursed Child is now running. Sometimes, Paley Fest happens at the same time and there are more intimate panels

I'm also planning to attend for the first time--just moved to the east coast and figured why the heck not? Obviously, I'm not eligible for the pre-reg badge sale. How difficult is it to get a badge in the general sale? Are buying groups necessary?

Last year Saturday sold out the same day.  Friday I believe was next and Sunday sold out after a few days.   Thursday was still available up to maybe a week or two before the con started.
