SYFY's Resident Alien (spoilers)
« on: January 22, 2021, 07:59:58 AM »
I saw the panel for this show at NYCC Online and it piqued my interest. Since then, I've had a chance to watch a couple of episodes and really enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to the official premiere on Wednesday (January 27).

I've read the first two or three volumes of the comic and enjoyed them well enough. I want to watch the show but I've cut the cord and not sure how to watch Syfy stuff. I'll have to investigate that, if it ends up that I have to buy the season I might even do that-the comics have a cool premise that I think a show could expand upon even more.

I have not read the comics, but at the NYCC Online panel (which I believe is still out there on Youtube) they were showing how they were working to make the show reflect the comic book.

You may be able to access the show on some other service, or SYFY's website?

I looked a little into it-Syfy website says starting Feb 3 the first two episodes will be available free on their Youtube page for 14 days. All other options like ondemand, apple tv and roku will require cable authentication to stream. I may see if a relative will let me borrow a cable login to watch that way.

At least you will be able to see the first 2 episodes, to determine if it is worth the effort to pursue it further.

I saw the first episode at NYCC in 2019 and thought it was pretty good. I’ve been waiting a long time for the second episode! I haven’t read the comics so I don’t know how close it is to them.

Watched the first episode of Resident Alien tonight, and I look forward to more.  Big Black and Snowflake? Pretty good stuff. I see an ensemble cast beginning to gel quite nicely. I needed some out loud laughs and got 'em.

The first episode is good, in that it really gives you a taste for the series. So you know whether or not you are interested right away, as opposed to those shows that have to 'grow' on you.

I loved it. I've read through volume 4 of the comics and it's basically nothing like them, but I don't seem to care as much with this as I do other adaptations. It's quirky, fun, with just enough drama to keep me watching. In the comics he is mostly solving crimes/mysteries, I could see them going in that direction in season 2, possibly.

I have not read the comics (although they are on my TBR list). That's interesting to know that the storyline is different... no spoilers from comic fans! ;)

We are enjoying both the story and the humor of this show.
