FoCC Discord group opening up.

Due to the nature of forum & forum software, it is not the easiest platform to use during con's. To that end we've created a new server on Discord to help folk broadcast and get info.

What it is and what it is not
While we have channels for the outside lines, Hall H etc. This IS NOT a line group!! The 'outside' line groups are for updates, like, 'it's a walk in' or 'the line is moving' or 'Room bcf is full'

There is also a place for Floor lines and swag. Think -- "the line for hallmark is capped' or "swag drop at fox'

We also have a channel for events happening Outside the con. Think Amazon offside & line status... etc

tapatalk doesn't have some the features that discord has unfortunity - the broadcast to groups/roles is very interesting

I don't like tapatalk.  It's heavy advertising burns through mobile data.  I just use a normal RSS reader instead.  It's easy on data which is what RSS was meant to be.

Role assignment is up and running so you can now curate notifications for things you want to be informed about. Instead of pinging the entire server with @everyone you can now say for example "@HallH wristbands are being handed out" or "@Mondo surprise drop" and the notification will only be received by those who want them in those roles. Simply just react to each respective Emoji listed for each category. If you no longer wish to receive notifications for the role just unreact to the emoji of that role. Head on over to the #role-assign channel to pick your roles.

[member=2226]Mel[/member] this is what tapatalk & the forum can not do- which is why it's a great tool while we are attending a convention. Discord isn't so great for archived info or specific chanels/threads (like drilling into & keeping straight the two events at the CCI museum- the batman party and being open all sdcc weekend to the public. But Discord is a lot easier for quick communication-
here is a lot better for in deapth conversations about specific issues- each has a place and use to the community.

Well, Tapatalk does do this if you set the thread you want to watch to notify you.

I'm very familiar with Discord and am a moderator of a server with over 800 members now. So, if anyone needs help feel free to ask me. It's a bit of a learning curve for some users as far as how to do reactions and use tags.
