Does it make sense to set up an unscientific poll to see who got emails today or not?

I'll gladly participate as soon as I finish crying.  No email for me today. :'(
If stupidity got us in this mess, then why can't it get us out?

I'm going to do the unthinkable and just focus on work for the rest of the day.  Hopefully next week we all get hotels we want.

I read someone saying either here or on twitter of someone getting a non downtown hotel. That person had said they'd only selected non down hotels. will see if i can find that post.
hearsay is hard to .... manage. yeah- if they've selected non downtown rooms-- it's kinda a mystery why they didn't do early bird

yep! My mom and I. My mom was in at 9:03 and I was in at 9:07. We both had 6 downtown hotels and selected "closest to the con"
that falls within my hypothesis- you selected 'closest to the con'

It would make sense if they sent a batch this morning and dealt with those issues, and then sent out a second batch later today. I don't want to raise false hope, but it would be a good strategy since their people got overwhelmed last year. I suspect it is why they split the dates.

Good luck and you're more responsible and strong than I am. I think I'm going to take a nap and try to forget that e-mails even went out today... and try to figure out how to survive another week of anxiety without the tournament I was watching to distract me.

3 requests sent in my group, we all got instantly in and all got our #1s. Bayfront, Omni, and Bristol. I wouldn't consider Bristol to be part of the big boy hotels, at all.

It isn't, but for me it was the perfect combination of price and distance for a hotel with a credible rating. It's under a mile to the convention center, and my favorite coffee spot, Lion, is on the way. It's tied for the second cheapest downtown hotel (and the first and other second are technically in Little Italy) and even cheaper than most non-DT hotels. The MMM, Bayfront, and Omni are closer, but tacking on an extra $75-120 a night for five nights really adds up. It's average 3.5 stars on Yelp, and while Yelp isn't reliable for everything...from experience 3.5+ star hotels are usually a safe bet. 3 is a toss up, and anything below that makes me run for cover. We also prefer boutique hotels, so that cemented it as an easy decision to choose the Bristol as my #1.

if my hypothesis is right, then there will be a bunch of dt rooms open[eta may 8th]. the rooms are rejects due to both roommates filling out the forum, etc

Actually, if i'm right the way they're doing it makes a lot of sense- and is as respectful of the time stamp as possible.

My father was instantly through (never saw a walking man --- so about 12:00:30), and didn't receive an email.  Anyone still in a similar situation?  It took him about 2-3 minutes to submit the form.

Unscientific I know, but someone on Twitter did a poll and it looks like only about 25% of people got replies today.

ETA there were approx 85 people polled.

It's 95 now and it's down to 23%.

99 votes and down to 22%.

I've seen several other people mention similar situations.

All #SDCC wave 1 hotel emails have been sent for today. If you didn't get one, sit tight. Wave 2 is 5/8/17.

So all the e-mails for today have gone out, officially, at least according to their twitter.

Edit: that tweet went out around 12:56 PT

I'm with you! I don't mind the distance at all! It's a very easy straight shoot to the convention center, Ralph's is in between the short walk, so it is a great pit stop before entering the con, and Conan is right next door. I stayed at the Bristol in 2014, and while it certainly doesn't have the luxurious amenities that other hotels have, it does just fine. The extra downtown fee for staying a 2 min walk from the Center would have added an additional $700 for the extra days we are staying this year.

And, I kind of like the extra few blocks there is to walk - helps add to the daily stepcount goal of 12k and makes it easier to pass the f* out when I reach the hotel bed.
