Sweet holy lol at that reddit thread.

I'm calling stubborn pride LOL. I really need to change my usernames and make them more conspicuous. It's too easy to tell who I am. I need more anonymity on the interwebs ;)

Do not mention decoder ring!  I'm a HUGE "A Christmas Story" fan, and always wanted one of those Little Orphan Annie decoder rings that Ralphie had in the movie. Yes, I'm a huge nerd right now. But whatever.

NARP tried that was called on it.  ;)

I cannot believe it was that easy to distinguish who it was. The person on reddit when called out on being NARP, their response was "Who cares? What does that have to do with anything?
Was it part of your club requirements to come to another forum and downvote discussions or ideas that you don't agree with?"

They didn't even try to deny it.....If it were me, at least I'd deny. I doubt anyone would have believed me, but atleast try and deny it. Don't deflect. Deflecting just makes you look more guilty.

Wow...that reddit thread was amazing. I can honestly say I've never seen people purposefully trying to get extra rooms so they can give them away. And, that room transfers go on far and wide outside of these forums as well. I've traded rooms with people before I ever got to these forums.
Do these tacos taste funny to you?

I mean, the person has a sliver of a valid point... it would probably be fairer if each request was linked to member ID and non-transferrable (although not non-refundable). But it's buried under such an avalanche of paranoia and vitriol that it's hard to take them seriously.

Yeah I don't think this would be a bad change, especially with the new two tiered process for allocating rooms. It might actually make less work for OnPeak ultimately and let them focus on improving some of their existing processes.

(though I would say that I'm not sure if their initial process of allocating rooms is "fair" - so whether a heavier reliance on that process is more or less fair, who actually knows)

Right... I got focused on the theoretical point and forgot we were talking about OnPeak here. At this point I'd have to be given access to watch each and every allocation to actually believe they're doing it correctly and fairly.

Better solution (as many others have said as well): one request, tied to member ID, non-transferrable (i.e. credit card used must match name associated with member ID), that results in not an allocation, but instead an appointment time to live-book whatever's left that you want.

I'm looking at booking Tues/Sun at the MMM through their site. Does anyone know which rooms have the best view of the convention center (and the bay, if possible) - city view or bay view? Not sure how it works with multiple towers.

Also, if I book a room with a balcony for those two days and merge it with the OnPeak reservation, will they make us change rooms or charge extra?

(Sorry if this is off topic.)

2013, I had a gorgeous view of the bay from my balcony at the MMM, North Tower I believe.  I had booked a room for Sunday night with a bay view, and they consolidated that with my SDCC reservation.  This year, I booked a bay view with balcony room for Tuesday and Sunday hoping they'll do the same thing.

However, one thing to be mindful of booking rooms at the Marriott site are that some of them require you to prepay in full up front, and other don't.

I'll donate the $10 right now......You know it'll be a collector's item like 10 years from now. We'll all be here reminiscing about NARP and the "good ol' days."
