I don't expect it from OP at this point. TP generally tried to do it alphabetical, until they massively screwed up their last year before the merger lol.

Glad some people are still receiving Gaslamp hotels though!

Edit: Still haven't received anything on my IE session (around 9:03 unfortunately it was on IE and I tried so many things but they don't seem to work more if the newer version) and I think one was on Chrome for a friend who couldn't do it. Nothing yet. I don't think my friend is monitoring her e-mail as she's at work.

I know it's stressful, but I'd rather they take their time than send out wrong information! I feel for poor RustyPonds who was told he had a 2 king bed suite at Hard Rock...

Yea, got my email! I got the Manchester Grand Hyatt, never stayed there before and it was further down on my list. But I'm excited, I've heard it's nice.  :D

I've stayed there before. Nice hotel, and nice views if you get one of the upper floors.  It is deceptively far from the convention center for being only two blocks away, but at least you don't have to deal with the stupid train crossing. You do catch the occasional celebrity going through the lobby.

So lesson learned, for next year----if someone offers you a downtown hotel, TAKE IT even if it means you're going to be cramped. I passed on the Westin and Residence Inn last week from generous members here because I was afraid it wasn't enough space...serves me right!

As an aside, I fired up Booking.com to see a note stating "350 people are currently browsing for hotels in San Diego"

lol

Got my email for Best Western PLUS in Old Town. Luckily, my friend got our first choice last week. Crazy to see the difference of about 30 seconds. Would there be any interest, or should I just let it go?

There might be some interest. Old Town is a pretty good location for some with the easy trolley access and good restaurants. That's an important point you make about 30 seconds, it is looking like the transitions between a top choice or other, or a downtown hotel versus non-downtown happen really fast. Add that to the fact that a lot of the times people report are approximate, and that even cache based timestamps, while better, may be a bit off from what onpeak is using and, well the signal-to-noise ratio isn't in our favor.

Honestly this is what it sounds like.  I'd say about 80% (stat pulled from my butt, don't quote this as fact please) seem to be fitting a pattern but a good chunk seem to be completely outside of any discernible pattern.  For example, last week there was a number of people that got placed in MMM with really later than 9:05.  But people who were under 9:05 and had MMM on their top 6 (like me) got a room not on their list.  Now this week it seems people who were in the 9:01 time stamp have been shoved out to MV or Old Town or Coronado while people with later time stamps got downtown hotels.  If they are using a computer algorithm for this, something went wonky.  If they are sorting it by hand (doubtful) then they are clearly making lots of human errors with certain submission chunks.

My stats are pulled from my butt but it's based on observations from both here and Twitter.

In what we've collected so far,  people that were notified in group 1 had gotten form access by about the 90 second mark or earlier, (a few reported a bit later but these were rough estimates.) I've also seen some things like you mention online and on twitter, I would guess that they are actually referring to when they submitted the form. Hopefully things will become a little clearer once we collate all the new data.

I may have a Double Tree San Diego Hotel Circle if you're interested. I offered it to someone else first, but I don't expect them to take it.

Yes! Let's talk! I stayed there in 2014 and it was great!

Quick logistics question..

A few from my group are downtown at MGH. Looks like the other two will be in Old Town. They have a car. I do not. Has anyone ever registered a vehicle that wasn't theirs at their hotel? Wondering if I could put parking on my MGH bill so my friends could drive down and park. (Old town is super easy by public transport too, so this is just a covering all bases question.)
Do these tacos taste funny to you?
