Good idea to review this early to avoid frustration later when you are denied entry because of improper documentation. Photos of your vaccine card must include pictures of the FRONT and BACK.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220502/4ba61327bf4240b5fdbf7b586d3bf5f7.jpg)

My state has its own app so I am hoping they take that but mine lives in my wallet. I am always proud to show it off.

Does anyone know how the COVID proof is shown - is it one time or is it every time you enter the Con?

In the other thread, they said at WonderCon it was checked once and you were given a wristband to wear during the Con.
-
I really really hope they don't use the paper wristbands and go with cloth or plastic. I went to special edition and got the wristband Friday morning and by Sunday is was super wrinkled, stretched out, and I was afraid it was going to tear apart. I was careful with showering and tried my best not to get it super wet, but even then it was still not great by the end.

That's how it was at Turkey Con (CCSE) last November.

You get a wristband the first day you're on site; going through a line to a table of volunteers who will check either your vaccination card or pic (I used iphone pic) + photo ID (if you have a child too young for photo ID it's not a problem). They give you a wristband that you keep on all weekend, or go back through verification.
It was a relatively smooth process at both SDCC SE and WonderCon: WonderCon a bit smoother than the Nov. event.
-
Hope that my proof of vaccination from Canada is sufficient, it is a national document and has a QR code and is good enough for the airlines :)
-
I hope the CLEAR app is good enough for proof of vaccination.

Do you have to show your badge or badge confirmation? Or just ID and vaccination card/pic?

Just ID and vax card. The station was set up outside the Convention Center. Once you passed that checkpoint, you went in to pick up your badge (if you didn't already have it).

Right. Where the vax card check-in was for SDCC SE was in the bus parking lane/sidewalk. That would be inside the closed-off perimeter that SDCC has set up from the traffic light closest to A hall to somewhere near the Hall H line; I presume with a much bigger attendee crowd they'll have to move that somewhere else (and, hopefully, be up-and-running starting Monday or Tuesday).

The vax stations were also inside the perimeter at Turkeycon. The sign that marks the perimeter was up as well as the security. I tried to tell them that I had to go get vax checked but they didn't seem to be stopping anyone.
They will have to be up Monday and Tuesday for the staff, volunteers and exhibitors. Hopefully they will have more than the 2 stations. Another station at the Hall A side of the convention center seems like a good idea. Then there would be one at all 3 major entrances to the convention center.

Is it possible to merge this with the other thread of the same topic?

This thread reminded me to finally download my CA vaccination record to my Google Wallet on my phone, so thanks everyone!

Gonna have to schedule my test for when we arrive in CA. Anyone got some good testing sites that will be accepted at the Con?

Where are you going to be staying? It would make sense to get the testing done asap when you land in CA
-
For those who are not yet vaccinated and still plan to come, keep in mind you need to have completed the vaccine series 14 days prior to start of SDCC. So last dose of the series should be obtained by 7/14/22(Moderna and Pfizer are both 2 dose series requiring either 3 to 4 weeks between doses, J&J one dose). If going the “no shot, testing route”, CVS Pharmacy offers both PCR and antigen tests(PCR can take 24-72 hrs to get back, antigen usually same day). I don’t think the CVS pharmacies near the convention center have “Minute Clinics” which I think is where the tests are run. I’m sure a Google search could help identify other testing sites. Would probably not count on just walking in to get a test though, better schedule it ahead of time. Choosing to not get vaccinated prior to the event means you run the risk of not being able to attend because of a positive test.

Here is the county testing sites. I am not sure if they accept folks who aren't from SD County!

I wonder if they will accept test results that are self administered while someone monitors through video call.

Reading that info, they also want a picture of the back of the card. Aside from the default text, the back of my card has no info written in it. I wonder why they want the back as well.

Maybe an attempt to weed out fake cards that may not have the correct text on the back?

This has been a requirement since Comic Con Special Edition. They want to see both sides of the vaccine with your ID or show them the digital proof from your smartphone’s wallet with your ID.

Some of the vax cards I've seen have hand-written script, while some have stickers. I've seen some where the nurse or whomever wrote big and needed the back for even the 2nd dose.
I can confirm that both WonderCon and SDCC SE the staffers did check both sides of the card, even though my back is also blank currently (though when I get a 4th dose the back will be utilized)
-

Mine is like this... I actually have a second card for the booster b/c the first two shots were written way too big. :(
But I just use the QR code from the State of Ca most of the time.

We are arriving Tuesday but staying with some friends up in Pendleton that night. Staying at the Westin (non gaslamp) for the Con

Most places don’t. I came to SD for a concert with some girlfriends in Feb. and they would not accept an at home test.

How crazy is it that I have been on here for years and didn't know that? Excited to use this new trick!

without needing to get the details of why it is
It is possible to be in a Schrodinger's Cat state and be both negative, due to a rapid test and positive, due to a long test.
IOW, if you're getting over covid & attending a convention that requires a test result, the test that will show you true communicative status is the rapid test.

While I agree, I do think it also depends on the testing site. I went to one site and they just swabbed barely inside my nose, while in Texas the go up several inches, almost scratching your brain. I do wonder which method is more accurate.

It's too bad they can't just somehow enter it on your badge RFID so that when you tap in /going into the building, such that it beeps /goes red or whatever (i.e. you have to speak with someone there / can't go in right way) if you don't have your vaccination status in it. Otherwise we are going to have to wear the wristband for up to 5 days now (including preview night) which may be uncomfortable and/or wear down like said above. I am thinking I will probably have to go in at least once during the convention to get a new wristband.
-
I thought the wrist bands wouldn't last during Turkey Con, but they held up for the entire convention. The ones at the Star Wars Celebration would have lasted through a nuclear blast.

I emailed CCI to ask about proof of vaccination for international travelers, received this confirmation:
If your vaccination card is accepted for international travel and you are able to travel with your international vaccination card, then you will be allowed to use the vaccination as proof for our event.

No, it's the photo I show to for proof of vaccination that doesn't change. I got excited when it had me do a new one, did my hair and make-up then it showed that other photo again. So cruel

Good thing I shaved today...I think I'll set that up today then :D
Sidebar: I lost my card. So I spent this past Saturday running around to the individual pharmacies where I got my shots, and they were very cooperative. No muss/no fuss. Just stupid me for losing my card. Also got booster #2 since I was there, so I'm all set for next month.
This time next month, Thursday of SDCC!

I had to go in for a routine vistit to my Doc. I asked if I needed the 2nd boster since i had covid last month given I was going to ComicCon next month. The answer was nope. One less jab! yay.
Loosing the vax card is a good reason to set up the Clear App!

I have a digital card on my iphone. added through i believe a gov website and it has a Smart QR code that looks like whats mentioned on cci's website. I guessing people were able to use that at Wondercon as the verification?
I don't recall seeing this page up before but maybe i just missed it
---https://www.comic-con.org/cci/covid-19-faq
A digital record issued by the Department of Public Health or an approved company that includes a QR code that when scanned by a SMART Health Card reader displays your date of birth, vaccine dates, and vaccine type
People who were vaccinated in California can get a free digital COVID-19 Vaccination Record at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov
-
I lost my vax card and couldn't get the digital Government card to download to my phone. So, I just went to my Kaiser health account and downloaded and printed my record that has a QR code and is good for 72 hours. I used that at Turkeycon, Wondercon and Star Wars Celebration with no problem.

Yes I saw that post about Clear app on twitter. It was a pain for me to initially to get the actual Clear login/verification working as it kept giving an error, but once it worked then I was able to easily add my Canada vaccination status by scanning in the QR code on it and get a pass made for Comic-Con on it.
-
I had to use the CLEAR app to get into indoor sporting events earlier in the year that required COVID vaccination to attend. It generates a QR code, but also the screen which displays the code flashes green(flashes red if vaccine series hasn’t been completed yet). Most times to get in, I would just show the flashing green screen on my phone to the security person at the entrance and get waved through. Very quick process.

I already had a Clear membership and my vax records were in my Apple Health app, so the process of getting the Comic-Con QR code took under a minute.

I had set Clear up before to get into the last C2E2, it was very quick to change it over.

Most of the pharmacies send QR codes with your vax status too. I will be bringing a screen shot of mine plus my vax card just in case.

Crappy Tyvek wristband, just like CCSE and WonderCon. Orange, like a faded construction worker vest.
-
That's a bummer - Star Wars Celebration had some sort of cloth band which was really great for multiple days
-
Yeah, I was hoping that they might have graduated to the nice satiny ones that ReedPop uses.
-
at least the standard ones are SOMEWHAT durable for shower/pool/etc...
-
So, I got my wristband today. It looked like I had enough play to slide it off, but without much pressure it easily ripped. Guess I'll be getting a new one tomorrow. Lesson learned. These are cheap. I hope they bought enough to cover all the replacements during the week.
-
Hmmm... thinking of bring a roll of cellophane tape to reinforce the back of it, at least?
-
Do we know for sure we need the wristband first before picking up badge? I'm just working out my timing today and it may be easier time wise to get badge first then wristband tomorrow but I know we thought it made sense that the band was needed first

If it starts to give way, get rebanded at a station - I've approached the banding booths and simply asked them for another- they see mine & replace it.

those are nicer to wear but get tighter over time. At least the tyvek doesn't itch cuz it can be set to be very loose
but I'm someone with major skin issues chronic hives/dry skin etc

You need the band first. That was also the policy at CCSE and WonderCon.

-
Hmmm... thinking of bring a roll of cellophane tape to reinforce the back of it, at least?
I would just get a new one when it starts to fray. It shouldn't take long. At Turkeycon the people that actually put on the band after the verification was done would just give you a new one if you showed them your old one. There was no line for that. A taped band makes it look like it was taken off and put back on, possibly on someone that didn't get verified.
Wristbands are available at the convention center. Was told that the stand will be there through 8p.
Which isn't even on the published schedule of verification sites. By that, today only the one at volunteer HQ and T&C should be open. So they are exceeding what was promised.

Correct. MMM is volunteer HQ. That opens today and should have been the first station opened downtown. People have reported for the last couple of days that vaccination verification sites have been open at the convention center proper. Which isn't on that schedule.
-

I believe so; that's how the logistics were for WonderCon & SDCC SE. In fact, the wristband/COVID checks are at different locations from badge pick-up, not in the Convention Center, so I'm 99.9% sure that's the case. Do the COVID check first, then pick up badge (that's what I'll have to do tomorrow for my 7 year old)
-
Got mine today at the T&C. No line but I didn't recognize the hotel anymore. It's surrounded by condos.

Walked in and out of T & C in about 5 minutes around 11:00 am today. A steady trickle of people doing the same but no line to speak of.
-
Did vax check at MMM. Had the Clear app ready. Took moments.
-
Picked my vaccine band at 2pm today (Wednesday), short line.
-
I got a wristband at the Omni today. It was the opposite of a line. They had more people working than people to wristband. Which when I went totaled 1. I was the only person there getting verified. I walked into a big room with a Disneyland style line with no one there but the staff. It didn't look like anyone had been there for a while since they were all sitting there reading. One of them verified me quickly yet thoroughly. Unlike at Turkeycon, she did look at my ID and vaccination card. She even asked me to move my finger since I was covering up the name.
I wasn't looking to get a wristband. I was just walking by. At first I didn't think it was a comic-con verification site. I thought it was a private company offering fast covid tests. I didn't notice any logo or comic-con wording on the sign. Then I saw a comic-con staff member at the door and asked if it was a comic-con site. I was expecting a tent like at Turkeycon. Maybe comic-con isn't cost cutting as much as cost shifting. Renting that space can't be cheap. It also speaks to the offsite situation that that space was available. That's a prime offsite spot.
