The official notification also finally came out.

Quote
Dear Professional,

Your Comic-Con Member ID account indicates that your professional verification is DUE for Comic-Con 2017.

Comic-Con International requires that all professionals verify their status every three years with qualifying work.  If you wish to register as a professional for Comic-Con, you must complete the professional application and submit verification materials.  The application can be found in the “Information and Application for Professionals PDF” at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.

Your application and verification materials must be postmarked or emailed by September 30, 2016. Applications sent after this date will not be considered.  For information on qualifying verification materials, please see page 2 of the PDF.

Once you have submitted your application and verification materials, please allow 4—6 weeks for processing and review. You will be notified via email if you are approved.  If you do not receive a response from Comic-Con within 6 weeks, please contact [email protected].

This email is NOT a confirmation of registration. Please read the PDF carefully for instructions on how to complete and submit your professional application for Comic-Con 2017.

Sincerely,
Professional Registration
Comic-Con International

This email pertains to professional registration only.  If you do not intend to register as a professional for Comic-Con 2017, please disregard this message.  This message is not related to exhibitor, program participant, press, volunteer, or attendee registration.

I think the only concern I have with the whole process is that you are supposed to allow 4-6 weeks for a reply before reaching out to them.  If, for some reason your application gets misplaced or lost it will then be too late to resubmit.

You get a conformation when you email your application in. If you send it in on paper then yeah, I guess there's really no way to know.

I just sent in my pro app today - fingers crossed! I sent in a paper copy via USPS priority (certified) mail too, so I'll let you all know if they e-mail any confirmation of receipt for that... ;)

I'd be very interested if that happened, as I don't think that's the expected practice.  So far, I sent mine in on August 30.  According to USPS Tracking "Your item has been delivered and is available at a PO Box at 9:41 am on September 1, 2016 in San Diego, CA 92112."  I did not receive an email confirmation from CCI.  So now it's just a waiting game.

Ahh, thanks for the info - that's good to know! I just checked the tracking on mine, and it looks like it's all set to be delivered to the P.O. box today. And now, my watch begins...and will continue, for the next 4-6 weeks ;D

This is our first year.  Do you guys send a duplicate by mail? I'm a bit scared to rely on email since so much can go wrong. I was thinking of mailing a hard copy just in case.

Hmm...that is a good question! This is my first year applying too, and I only sent in a hard copy.

This is my second time applying.  Both times I just sent in a hard copy since it was easier for me to highlight and circle things.  Everything worked out fine last time, but I seem to recall it took all of 8 weeks or longer to hear anything back.  The waiting is the hardest part.  Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since they received my current application.  I'm tempted to send them an email to check on status, but don't want to be a nuisance.  I do have confirmation that my application was delivered to the right PO Box, so guess I will just wait.  I'm sure they are swamped.

This is my second time applying....and I've only done email both times. They do take a while to respond, if I recall. Y'all are right...the waiting is the hardest part!

I did receive a confirmation that they had received the application when I sent it in...and I will have just hit 4 weeks this Friday...so they still have some time before I'll send an email to check on my application status.

Are you supposed to get an email confirmation after you send in your Pro-application? I had to renew this year and I send it in twice but nothing in return yet... I am getting a little nervous now lol
