Rating the New Shows/Movies/Comics Promoted
« on: August 24, 2019, 04:45:50 AM »
It’s been a month so let’s see what new shows/movies are definitely worth some buzz.

The Boys was a big winner.

Pennyworth is what I call a JetBlue show - something easy to watch when you’re on a JetBlue flight and you have nothing else to do, but otherwise forgettable.

Dark/Web I only watched one episode and to me, it looked like a really cheap Black Mirror rip-off. When the Siri knockoff started egging on the Uber driver to start killing people, I decided I wasn’t going to bother.

Dark Crystal hasn’t dropped yet but loved the first episode and the critics who have seen the rest are raving about it.

The Boys was great! Loved it. Didn’t think I would get all into but one episode after another i was done with the season in 2 days. Definitely a fun series and hope we see a second season.

Hickman's House of X and Powers of X really brings the X-Men back with a huge roar.  A great set of reads, and it turns a few things in continuity on its ear.  It also, to me, reads very highbrow and not bubblegum, a really great read that you may need to read twice to follow through.  I highly encourage folks to take a peek.

I'll repeat what others have said... The Boys is great!  The party/premiere was one of the top things I wanted to do this year and am glad I waited in line to get in and preview the 1st two episodes.

Having seen all eps of Dark Crystal now, I'd say it is a big winner.  This has washed the bad taste the ending of GoT left.

If you like the CW DC shows, you should like Batwoman.  I thought Ruby Rose did a fine job and whoever played Alice was awesome.

Creepshow is meh so far.  I loved the original movie so hoping the stories get better.

Nancy Drew looks ok but I'm getting a little tired of the trend of trying to make every YA classic edgier.

Steven Universe movie was great.  My family loved the latest Duck Tales season.
The season premier of "The Good Place" was at least really good, and setting up a very promising final season.
