See, I'd be quicker go to San Fran than LA for WonderCon. I want to go to LA but I'd rather not have it tied to a Con, that way I have plenty of time to do whatever it is I wanted to do.

We here in Orange County don't like being lumped in with LA. ;)

Space the events in the spring and the fall and far enough apart and people will go.

It depends what time of the year they are and how close they will be to SDCC. My wallet can't take all the cons.

But, you like our liberals.   ;)

As an L.A. resident, I'd just go to the Anaheim one only, as I wouldn't have to get a hotel room.

Besides, there's still COMICAZE and BENT*CON (for LGBT) in L.A.

The real question is, if they have 2 WonderCons in 2014, will we go to both?

And the answer is... maybe. I'd say more than 50% chance...

I could and probably would since both are "relatively" convenient for me. I live 15-20 minutes from Moscone and my entire family lives in SoCal and specifically my sister lives in Irvine, also about 15-20 minutes from Anaheim Convention Center. So to me it would come down to what was being offered in terms of programming, exclusives and other events at Wondercon Anaheim. Since I live so close to Wondercon San Francisco, I'd go even if the offering's were skimpy. There in lies my only concern, with 2 Wondercons and Comic Con, would that create less attractive cons in themselves? Would the corporations and companines be willing to commit assets to 3 cons? Even WC Anaheim was lacking some big vendors (Marvel, Gentle Giant, etc.) and hollywood presence. Somewhere along the line I did post that the only scenario I see that might work is having one of the Wondercons happen in the mid/late fall to capitalize on the "holiday season" with shopping and there's always those handful of "big" movies that come out around Thanksgiving (Hunger Games, etc.). If they could get the committments of those fall movies and maximize "holiday" shopping by offering "cool exclusives to buy for your spouse, child, etc. for the holidays" maybe it could work.

CCI, go ahead and give it a shot. Why not? 3 day, Saturday and Friday sold at this WC and obviously SDCC sold out in minutes, it appears the demand should be there. Just be sure to make it quality and not just another convention for the sake of having one because people will come.

I'm still interested in what the new galactic empire (Disney) has in store for D23. Lets not forget they fired 150 people from Lucas Arts and pulled an Alderaan on the company this week.

Disneyland Cast Members get free badges/heavily discounted (at least at the last one they did), so if you know a CM, i'd go that route.

The past two D23 they had to force cast members to go. I'm just complaining about, but I'll man up and get them soon. It sucks having it so close to SDCC.

I'm waiting to see if there's something official announced w/ programming before I commit. Too expensive for me to blindly go.

They've already announced the full programing schedule for D23 Japan which is in Oct. so I suspect an announcement will come before summer.

But the description on the website is enough to justify a ticket from me.

"The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. In anticipation of even bigger attendance, D23 Expo 2013 will feature: an overflow theater for the D23 Arena, which will accommodate more than 2,000 guests for live streaming of the popular Arena presentations; nearly double the size of presentation venue Stage 23 (formerly 1,000 seats); and an expanded show floor, to include Halls A, B, C, and D, as well as a larger Collectors Forum to provide even more magical experiences for guests."

It'll be a big year for sure.

I definitely would not. Traveling to SF wouldn't fit my schedule or my budget
