I was recommended this forum on reddit as Ive been trying to get SDCC badges for years and wanted advice on how to get some for next year. They said buying groups are the best way I obviously understand the idea of it but how exactly does it work out who would I talk to etc.

The moderators may have better information, but I think this forum is a good place to start

We will be posting about buying groups for 2020 after this year’s con.

Essentially, a buying group is a group of people who work together to get badges. Since everyone who gets to the buying screen can buy up to 3 badges, anyone who gets in uses extra buying slots for others in the group. This means that the group buys more efficiently, which increases everyone’s chances.

Welcome James!  Both TJ and sessions answered pretty well but I just want to toss in that this is a great community for info about the con.  Stick around and you'll benefit from not just the buying group, but all the other great info as well.  Good luck and I hope to see you are the con in 2020!

That definitely sounds beneficial! So if I wanted to also get my family in the buy group would I have to also create them an account on here as well?

With SDCC 2019 now in the history books, I wonder how one would be able to get 2020 badges? I know, it has to be one of those things where you have to hope for luck to get any badge for any day.

Returning registration will likely happen this fall, and open registration in the spring. Pros are applying for 2020 registration now.

There will be a post regarding the returning registration groups, likely in late August. At this point we do not know if we will be able to open up more spaces with these groups. This is something I still have to discuss with the group leaders.

Open registration buy8ng group information will be posted after returning registration is over.

How soon do they start? Last year I just missed the cutoff and do not want that to happen again

I am hoping to make an announcement in a few weeks, perhaps late August or early September. I still have to co-ordinate with the group leaders and see if we are able to add new people to the groups.

Trust me, it is never to early to start planning next year's SDCC. Before you know it, it'll be November/December and that's when we have to start worrying about Pre-Reg

I mean fair. I'm not too worried about it though, for the first year I qualify for both returning reg and priority volunteering.
