New venue-Lyceum
« on: July 07, 2013, 10:47:38 AM »
"Introducing the Lyceum Theatre!

New for 2013, Comic-Con International adds the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza as a satellite programming room. The Lyceum offers special panel presentations not seen onsite at the Convention Center in a small, intimate, theaterlike atmosphere. Each panel is ticketed, with extremely limited seating. There is no extra charge for these tickets.

The Lyceum Theater is located behind Horton Plaza. Look for the large blue obelisk, opposite CVS, Jamba Juice, and Starbucks on the bottom level. See the map on page 3 of the Quick Guide, bound into the center of this publication, for the location of the Lyceum Theater.
TICKET INFORMATION

Entry to the Lyceum requires a separate ticket and a wristband, plus your Comic-Con 2013 badge. Drawings for panel entry tickets at the Lyceum Theatre will be held at 9:00 AM in the Autograph Area (upstairs in the Sails Pavilion) on Friday and Saturday morning. Each winner will receive entry for two into the Lyceum Theatre at Horton Plaza. (Please note: there is limited disabled seating.) You will receive two tickets and two wristbands. Each ticket must be present at the theater, with attendees wearing the wristband, to gain access. The Lyceum Theatre is assigned seating.

There will be a second drawing shortly following the 9:00 drawing for "stand-by seating tickets." The stand-by seating tickets are limited and do not guarantee you access to the panel.

Please be inside the Lyceum Theatre no later than 15 minutes prior to the panel start time or you will forfeit your seat to stand-by seating ticketholders."

Interesting-any speculation about what they may be trying out here? Maybe just a new venue, and they are using ticketing because it is a theater. I hope.

Really interesting; maybe this is a "soft" trial for ticketing for panels?

It is a experiment for something this year.  They talked about it on the G+ community this morning. Not much detail except it was new and we'll see kinda thing.

Interesting to note that Capacity = 550
Hall H is roughly more than 10x more people
Ballroom 20 is roughly 4x capacity

So definitely an intimate venue for anyone interested in those three panels

^^^^^^^
DING!  this

During the SDCc Google+ Community Hangout (btw, great job ukdeejay, alyssa, and everybody - you all looked mahvelous) David Glanzer mentioned that the idea would be to duplicate certain panels in a more intimate setting.  This may alleviate some of the camping?  It looks like they're testing it out this year with the Nerdist: Conversation, and Pinky and the Brain, etc.

And creating new lines for people trying to get tickets to these panels...

I really think it should be unique programming and perhaps the type of programming that can take advantage of the setting.

I'd like to go to the Nerdist but Friday is GoT day so no luck. :(

I do agree it is a test run for perhaps future panels.

Saw the Pinkie and the Brain reunion is being held here.  Sounds like something I would want to check out.  The time to walk there though is a bit of an annoyance.

It seems that the surprise WOW panel people want to see....Pinky and the Brain. Again, CCI may have missed the mark on the room size for this panel. I wish everyone the best of luck getting tickets and....may the odds be in your favor!
