SXSW is in VR for 2021.

I think it's cool that SXSW has embraced VR.  Their event will be in VR this year.  What isn't cool is that they are charging $399 for it.  While that's half the cost of the last in person SXSW, I think it's too much for a virtual con.  They need the money.  From a story I heard on the radio, they are in financial trouble and they might not make it to 2022.  They've laid off a third of their employees so far.

That does seem pricy, have they said what hardware you would need?

It's being held inside vrchat so any VR capable Windows gaming computer with a VR headset will work.  If watching movies in the cinema is important then something like a HP G2, Quest 2 or a Samsung Odyssey+ should work best.

Being held in vrchat makes it really hard to stomach the price.  It's not like they are spinning up an entire system from scratch.  They built a world in vrchat.  People do that everyday.  I'm sure they spent a lot of time on the collateral to make it look much better than somebody doing it for fun at home, but is it $399 per ticket better?
