Title: The Vampire Diaries, Ballroom 20, 4.00pm-5pm
Post by: evanarose on March 15, 2014, 10:46:23 PM
I know it's early but I love the vampire diaries!

I'm assuming they are coming since they have in previous years?

How has the line up been for this panel? How long in advance would you recommend lining up?

I'm guessing they might be coming on a Saturday as that was the case before. I could be wrong.

Anyway I noticed one of the years they did a interview outdoors? Was that still part of comic con?

Is there a chance you can still catch up with the vampire diaries cast if you don't have a badge for the day they attend the panel? Or in previous years have people been able to see them- like doing an interview outside, signings and what not?

I think their panels have been traditionally in Ballroom 20 on Saturday afternoon. I don't see why they wouldn't show up this year. I saw their panel last year and they seem to be still enjoying themselves. Last year the panel was the 2nd to last panel I think so I don't think the line to go see it will be too long; maybe an hour wait at the most? If it was the last panel there'd probably be no wait at all.

Unfortunately that outdoors interview thing 2 years ago was a unique set-up by the WB that didn't take place last year. It's too bad because there weren't too many ppl that showed up and you could see the casts of WB shows pretty close-up. I presume the WB canned it last year since it didn't seem too popular. They should have advertised it better because anyone, including ppl without a badge, could see the interviews on-stage.

Also unfortunately I don't think it'd be easy to see the cast without a badge. On the day of the panel, they do signings at the WB booth in the exhibit hall but you need a badge for it of course. If you didn't find a badge, I guess you could find out what hotel they stay at. I'm sure they show up to the popular night parties.

It's usually not that bad to get into the Vampire Diaries panel.  For the past several years they've been scheduled after Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and Futurama.  The audience for those shows is usually a little different.  Although you'll still want to get there well in advance as they finished the day with True Blood and Arrow, two other very popular panels.  Not sure if they'll have a True Blood panel this year since the show will be wrapping up this summer.

How many people can fit into Ballroom 20?

Darn that's a pity with WB :( Would be good if they had a thing like that on this year since I didn't get a Saturday badge (maybe in resales but chances I'm guessing are low.).

Do the cast do signings and autographs? I'm guessing on the same day?

Generally you have to choose one or the other because the signing is directly after the panel and those who win a pass to signatures have to meet at a certain time before they are escorted to the booth.

Also, if you're lining up to get into a panel room, you can't simultaneously be in a line to get an autograph ticket/wristband.

According to

Ballroom 20 can hold 4,908

Oh that sucks that you don't have a Sat badge. If you want to catch a glimpse of the cast, maybe you can catch them when they're traveling from the MMM hotel to the convention center?  My impression is that they do press in the hotel first and then have to walk over to the convention center for the panel and signing. Sometimes they even stop and sign stuff for fans while they're waiting to be moved. I don't know this exact location but I saw this on youtube with other TV show casts like Arrow, Nikita, Once Upon a Time, etc.

Yes they usually do signings on the same day of the panel.

Actually that's not necessarily true if the panel is in the afternoon like Vampire Diaries. The line to get a wristband is in the morning. If you  line up early enough in the WB signings line (and have good luck to choose the right raffle), you can get a wristband (usually finished by 9-10am), do other stuff, come back later and line up for Ballroom 20. You can still go to the signing if it's after the panel or even if it's before, you line up to B20, get in, get a bathroom pass, and go to the signing and then go back to B20 with your pass. Sometimes the timing may not be perfect but usually you can make it work. I did that when I had a signing for Person of Interest to go to (had to make sure I was close to front of the line to make it) and had to rush back to B20 to use my pass before it expired (just barely made it) to catch the True Blood/Vampire Diaries/Arrow panels.

I'm trying to remember what I did that day. I did not get in line for the Vampire Diaries signing (no wristband for them; just for Person of Interest) but I was able to catch their panel and see the cast at the signing (the signing must have been before the panel). So I think it's still workable. You may have to be like last in line for the signing if the signing is afterwards or get a bad seat in B20 if the signing is before.

It was after the panel. I didn't get wristbands but my friend and her fiance did.

Just wanted to put in that I am not a fan of the show, but I camped out in Ballroom 20 the last 2 years because I love all the Fox line up and True Blood. The crowd does thin out during VD. And despite my lack of fandom, I think their panels have been quite good, as the cast was funny and wanted to be there (which is more than I can say for some other shows).
