Title: Star Wars Celebration 2019
Post by: a99kitten on April 16, 2018, 05:03:22 PM
https://screenrant.com/star-wars-celebration-2019-dates-location/

So newest rumor is Fall of 2019 in Anaheim.....perhaps just in time for Star Wars Land (or officially Star Wars: Galaxy Edge) to open at Disneyland?!?!?!

I NEED TO GO!

There's also this Rumour: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet.com/index.php?threads/sw-celebration-2019-london-leaked.54431/

(Although Anaheim seems more likely)

Hmmm.....

I'd be SHOCKED if they did not do it Anaheim or Orlando to coincide with the new lands opening. And since it was Orlando in 2017, and DL is supposed to open their SW land first - my money is on Anaheim. Which, as a West Coaster, I would love :)

Any idea when the dates would be announced for sure? I would use lots of vacation for this but I'd need to know in advance!

Tickets usually go on sale a year in advance!

edit: Last Celebration, dates were announced on May 4th, 2016  for a May 25th 2016 sale https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=6370.msg161503#msg161503  Hotels were also available on announcement day.

What if they decided to do TWO events to celebrate the SWL openings?   Spread the love from coast to coast. Just a thought.  :)

ooh...maybe back to back weekends so we can try and book it all!! :)

I actually expected Orlando/WDW for this next Celebration since it will be the last Skywalker Saga film and WDW is just bigger. But I didn't realize they planned on opening DL Star Wars Land first.

I just want some kind of confirmation!!!

Rumor:

Quote
UPDATE: The latest Star Wars Celebration rumor has to do with the company running the show. In the past it has been REED POP. However, their contract is up in 2019, and word on the street is that after the disaster last year at the Orlando Celebration, REED POP is out, and Disney will be handling the show with their D23 crew. D23 is a new convention that has gained popularity the past few years featuring nothing but Disney and everything they create from animation to Marvel, you'll find it there.

Some fans I've spoken to have already sounded the alarm on this rumor, relaying their D23 experiences as worse than Celebration Orlando.

For now it is a rumor and most likely will not stop 50,000 fans from showing up and having a good time!

More as we hear it!

Can anyone fill me in on what "the disaster last year at the Orlando Celebration" that the article references was?
I gotta be honest, I will NOT be thrilled if D23 runs it instead of ReedPop.

I'm trying to follow this blog for some info http://www.wdwinfo.com/planning/should-i-attend-d23-in-2019/ about D23 2017 and The Animation panel problems

https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=6039.msg216550#msg216550

Quote
Looks like a total breakdown in communication and line control for the animated panel.

https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=6039.msg216550#msg216550

Quote
D23 has prior experience with lacking both these things.

Reed Pop also had their share of communication and queue concerns at Celebration 2017.

According to a friend of mine there, this Con has been hell on Earth. She said even this morning they screwed up and let a bunch of people crash a barrier and move ahead of those who camped for The Last Jedi Panel (which she camped for).....she says she will never go to another ReedPop Con again!! :o

Just reading the complaints on social media, it seems like it was so poorly thought out.
They were never organized to handle this many people, not enough staff and security.
Plus they probably sold too many tickets.
I thought about going but I'm so glad I didn't, I'm watching all the panels live from the comfort of my own home.

If I was there I probably would have given up and gone to Epcot to drown my sorrows.

Some changes we could expect from a D23-Level Celebration:

An absence or an equivalent to Medical badges?  That was one the main complaints at SWCA I heard about in my group.

Thanks, Sam.  And not to be thick, but I don't follow what you said: "An absence or an equivalent to Medical badges?"

I was referring to early access for ADA/Medical badges.  At SW Anaheim, Medical badges could also get priority over general attendees at some of the Exhibit Hall booths.

ReedPop Celebrations, in the past had a Queue Line/Entrance to Exhibit Hall prioroty in which you enter the Exhibit Hall based on Ticket/Medical tier.

VIP badges enter first, then ADA (Medical badges), and then General Attendees.   The Medical badges can be applied for online, in advance, or at the show http://www.starwarscelebration.com/Tickets/Medical-Badges/

Disney/D23 doesn't have online applications, and "Early entry at our session venues is not permitted."

ACCESSIBILITY https://d23.com/d23-expo/things-to-know/

Guests with Disabilities

The D23 Expo accommodates Guests with special needs, including wheelchairs and service animals. For Guests who are hearing impaired, the sessions taking place in Hall D23 will have sign-language interpreters. Early entry at our session venues is not permitted. There will be seating available near the session venue entrance if you are unable to stand in the queue. You should join your group’s place in the queue once they arrive at the venue’s entrance to be seated. Some changes we could expect from a D23-Level Celebration:

An absence or an equivalent to Medical badges?  That was one the main complaints at SWCA I heard about in my group.

A near riot broke out at the last SWCA.  We waited for hours for a panel.  They were queuing up a final you-might-make-it-in-but-no-guarantees line.  That was the line that was supposed to go last.  Someone messed up and let them in first.  Those people had just walked up and were going in before us, a giant roomful of people who had waited hours and hours.  Everyone was yelling and screaming, but they just kept letting that line through.  No one stopped them.  The cops were called (two cops, not sure what they could have done).  We got in.  Our seats were not as good as they could have been, but I would have been very upset if we were completely displaced.

I thought typo but it's been long enough since the announcement where I'm sure they would've corrected it by now. Then I thought Easter but yes that's April 21, 2019. Spring Break? Well as someone who works in education and gets a "Spring Break" that's a possibility but there is no uniform "Spring Break" however the majority are connected to Easter ... Spring Break starts or ends with Easter so that actually rules out most Spring Breaks. IDK, I guess they expect us all to play hooky from work!  :-"

Depends where you are in the country! In Arizona we've always had March spring breaks.. most semester-system University's as well.

I mean any break is a good break, but moreso when it aligns with a con you're wanting to attend ;)

GOOD: Other Celebrations, the hotels weren't linked to a ticket purchase.

BAD: Last SW, hotels opened the day the news was announced, so expect that OnPeak link to open soon without an email announcement.

5 days is definitely confirmed -- SWC replied to a comment on their announcement asking if it was really 5 days.

A 5 day convention is definitely going to have at least 3 weekdays, so I don't think ending on a Monday is any more odd than, say, starting on a Wednesday. If anything, ending on a Monday makes more sense because then they get to include both weekend days as full days.

They're helpful if you like panels and exclusives. You get nice reserved seats for any panel and only have to show up a reasonable bit before the panel vs camping out. You get early access (30 minutes) to the convention floor so you get to hit a few booths before the mad rush. However this benefit does not work for places that do lottery such as Funko. Their lottery process supercedes this. It works for those booths that are the more traditional first come first serve.

If you have VIPs thats can be a large dent in a wallet, people may want to be able to arrange funds

If buying regular 5-day, remember you'll  likely get the option for a lanyard and t-shirt order as well.

Welcome to the Virtual Queue

Welcome to the virtual queue! Because tickets are in such high demand, we’ve created this queue to make sure your ticket buying experience is as painless as possible. Once it’s your turn, you will automatically be brought to the new ticketing system to purchase your tickets. Remember, there’s a limited time frame available once you’ve made it to the front, so be sure to have your credit card info handy. And whatever you do, don’t hit refresh while you’re waiting!

Get ready – this page will automatically take you to the ticketing system when it’s your turn to purchase tickets!
How does this queue thing work?

We use the queue to make sure that tickets are sold in an orderly and fair way. Customers enter the queue in the order in which they arrive after the on sale begins. When you are placed in the queue, a unique cookie identifies you and allows us to hold your place in line.

As long as your browser is open, you will not lose your place and you will be automatically taken to the checkout process when it is your turn, without needing to refresh.
What if I get an error page?

Getting an error page will not result in you losing your place in the queue or tickets in your cart.

The queue is made of many, many servers. In the unlikely event that you get an error page, it is possible that you landed on a misbehaving server or group of servers. This is why we painstakingly monitor for misbehaving servers and take them out on the fly.

If you encounter an error, just refresh once or twice. There is a good chance you'll be returned onto a behaving server. If the error persists, please do not continue to refresh repeatedly — you'll risk getting throttled or blocked.
What happens if I refresh?

The queue page will automatically take you into the checkout when it is your turn, so you should not need to refresh. Refreshing does not improve your odds of getting through the queue.

If you do refresh, you will keep your place in line. That said, our load balancers will automatically throttle and even block users that it deems malicious, so don't go overboard spamming your Refresh button.
What are the technical requirements for the queue?

To properly maintain your place in the queue, your browser must support cookies and javascript.

All current major browsers support these features by default, so unless you explicitly turned the features off, you'll be fine. The queue page will let you know in advance if we detect that your browser is incompatible.
PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to refresh this page. It will update automatically as you are admitted to the checkout. Activity that is deemed malicious or excessive could result in you being banned from our servers.

Hmmmm, I don’t know if I want to go now. This fandom is super toxic right now and I don’t feel like bumping into those fake fans next year, which would be funny to see. I thought they wanted to boycott anything Star Wars now? You know, get Kennedy fired, etc.

VIP sold out very quickly, which isn’t surprising. Overall, I am thinking about it. If I do go, I might apply for press, if possible

I was slightly surprised that VIP sold out so quickly...the fandom being in a bit of chaos.  But, sure enough, they are gone.

The one thing I hate about McCormack Place is lack of close hotels.  I was trying to multi-task for work and make reservations so it took me a minute to even get into the queue.  My walking man hasn't even moved in the past 5 minutes.  Maybe I'll be out in Rosemont.

Hyatt unavailabile.  Isn't MM next closest?

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

edit: The MM at McCormick now show out of availability and price raised to $382.  Perhaps it's not open yet or a glitch?

edit: no mention of shuttle services to McCormick either.. Shows Tue/Wed and Sun/Mon as $179.

And have to have a credit card valid for 2019 to save reservation.

well, as surmised I ended up downtown about 4 miles away.  It actually looks like you either get into the 2-3 hotels within a mile or all the rest are 3-4 miles away.  now I need to figure out; do I commute to convention center or try to drive and park there?  Have never done either.  I guess I'm spoiled, but this is kind of a bummer.  But once you buy non-refundable tickets you're kind of stuck staying somewhere.

They botched things opening the hotel queue before the announced time.  If you had gone in before 2 and happened to enter at the right time, your little man would have gotten you in to buy hotels when they went live at 2.  If you went into the queue at 2, there were already lots of people ahead of you.

I am a little suprised that the 5-day tickets have already sold out.  But with people pointing out the prices of single days, if you added them up it made sense to go ahead and get the 5-day even if you didn't plan on going to all 5 days.

I was already on the fence on going based on expenses.

Think I'll pass on this year, but I'll keep my hotel booked in case something changes. :D

It is very surprising though, since everybody told me tickets were available for months after they were posted for previous Celebrations.

Tickets have been in the past available for months after.

I think it is a combo of things. Hype; Cheaper to buy 5-Day instead of even 3-Day; Reduction in the number of 5-Day tickets (speculation on my part.

Post by: hikanteki on June 10, 2018, 01:45:05 PM
I'm surprised at how quickly it's selling...especially considering that other major conventions are stagnating or even taking longer than before to sell out.
Tickets for Celebration have lasted for months in the past, but since Saturday sold out it shows the demand is real regardless on whether or not they reduced the amount of full weekend passes.
People who don't get tickets will always find a reason to complain--yes, it sold out more quickly, but the last Celebration was in 2017 and everyone knows it's happening in 2019. They've had over a year since Celebration Orlando to save up.
This is also the biggest convention center in the country, although I don't know how much space they plan to use.

https://www.starwarscelebration.com/News-And-Media/Media-Registration/

Quote
Media Registration for Star Wars Celebration is now open!

Star Wars Celebration media applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM CST on February 22, 2019 unless we reach maximum capacity at an earlier date. We strongly recommend you apply early as once all media badges are allocated, no more will be released. There will be no onsite media registration at Star Wars Celebration.

Due to demand, Lucasfilm is limiting the number of media badges they are allocating for 2019. Because you have been granted a media badge in the past, does not guarantee your approval for one for 2019. Please allow time to receive your confirmation while they evaluate all applications.

Who Qualifies

Star Wars Celebration media registration is open for journalists regularly making editorial contributions. Editorial media includes writers, reporters, reviewers, producers, photographers, videographers, etc. who are attending specifically to write about Star Wars Celebration and/or cover the event for newspapers, magazines, TV, blogs, podcasts, radio, etc.

Media Badge Access

Star Wars Celebration Media badges provide complimentary access to Star Wars Celebration and corresponding venues (that don't include a separate ticket) for all days of the event. Media badges are extended as a courtesy of Star Wars Celebration. Star Wars Celebration is a fans first event which means your media badge allows access to panels as long as space is available.

Your press badge DOES NOT allow:

Early or special access into Star Wars Celebration
Guaranteed seating at panels and events
    The ability to cut lines
Free access into any events requiring an additional ticket
Entry into pre-show lotteries for exhibitor exclusives or private autographing (sorry, but these are reserved for
Star Wars Celebration fans who purchased tickets)

Any additional access, under certain situations, must be arranged through the Lucasfilm Media team.

Media Guidelines

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. All media applications will be reviewed by Lucasfilm and you will be notified if you have been approved or denied by February 28, 2019. If approved, additional information will be provided in your confirmation email and receipt. Every individual applying for a Star Wars Celebration press badge may only apply once.

Multiple Badges

Each media badge is issued individually. If you're applying with a team, each person on your team needs to apply and be approved separately. Lucasfilm reserves the right to approve or deny any application and limit the number of Media Badges provided to each organization. If you're approved and then email us saying you only received one badge and need more for your team, you will be directed to have the rest of your team submit an application and they may or may not be approved for badges. You may also be force choked for not reading these guidelines before applying as directed.

Media badges are non-transferable and non-resellable

Any individuals caught selling their media badge will be disqualified from attending future Star Wars Celebrations. This is non-negotiable.

Decisions are Final

Lucasfilm reserves the right to approve or deny any application. This decision is final and cannot be appealed. Include any and all information in your application that will allow the Lucasfilm Media team to make an informed decision, as you will not be able to submit further information later on if your application is not approved.

Hello everyone – As you can see, the cat is out of the bag !!!
.
It is with GREAT EXCITEMENT that I reveal the theme today for our 8th Star Wars Celebration Diorama Builders workshop : THE BATTLE OF SCARIF as seen in one of my fave Star Wars films ROGUE ONE.
.
I want to thank Lucasfilm and Mary at ReedPop for allowing me to let you all know what we have planed for 2019. It was a tight race, as last year we were planing a huge POD RACE diorama to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Star Wars EPISODE I The Phantom Menace. Along the way, circumstances beyond our control that arose in the past months, made it clear to us we unfortunately would have to abandon this concept for this time and re-think what else would be a really exciting and fun build never attempted before. First thing that came to mind was that I wanted it to be our very FIRST DISNEY ERA construction and the one I love the most, a scene from ROGUE ONE.
.
My crew and I were debating between 2 choices then LIGHTNING STRUCK, in the form of something I cannot discuss YET 🙂 I know I know, It’s Christmas, why am I being such a grinch and spoiling your day 🙂 It was going so well, I was spilling the beans LOL – But this LIGHTBULB MOMENT that magically fell in our lap,  just happens to be the COOLEST THING to happen to Diorama Builders booth in a long time – It will be a REAL GAME CHANGER for the Diorama Workshop experience. You will ALL be SOOO HAPPY when I can spill the beans about this final “SECRET” from the show (I am hoping mid-end January 2019) and then the FULL FLOODGATES will begin.
.
Until then, I can still show you some fun stuff like, How I make the Artwork, Logo Variations for Pins and other SWAG to be given at the show. Keep coming to visit often between now and the convention. You will learn just how much work and preparation and planing it takes to organize and produce a convention booth for Star Wars Celebration.
.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS – Enjoy your day with friends and family !!!
.
Cheers, Ciao for now…
.
Frank
.
OH, if you want to see me talk about the reveal, I uploaded the FIRST CELEBRATION IX CREW VIDEO HERE

Only a bit.  It’s still heavily skewed towards voice actors from the animated shows, not the movies.  And SWCO had names like Hamill, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Felicity Jones, and Forest Whitaker.  This year the only name at that level is Forest.

Yeah, basically means your chances of getting into the episode IX panel are nil.  When that goes live to make reservations, everyone attending will try to reserve a space, and the system will crash.

Full Details on New Panel Reservation and Lottery System for Star Wars Celebration Chicago

https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-celebration-chicago-lightspeed

Quote
Star Wars Celebration Chicago is modernizing the way fans experience the world’s biggest Star Wars party.

StarWars.com is excited to announce LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations and LIGHTSPEED Lane Virtual Queuing presented by ThinkGeek: new systems that will make access to Celebration Chicago’s biggest panels, show store, and exhibitor exclusives easier than ever before. Here are the full details from Lucasfilm and ReedPOP.

Overview

Fans will be able to use LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations to reserve admission for themselves and any additional tickets they purchased on their original order for panels all weekend long at Star Wars Celebration Chicago. This new panel reservation process will include an advance lottery for all morning panels on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena as well as the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages which will be streaming the morning panels live from the Celebration Stage. Fans will also have the ability to make advance panel reservations for panels on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages. This will provide the opportunity for more fans to enjoy some of our most exciting panels which would have previously required overnight camping and wristbands.

LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations provide peace of mind and eliminate the need for fans to camp out overnight. Fans who win a lottery for admission to the first panels each morning on the Celebration Stage will know what seating section they are assigned to in advance of the show so there is no need to queue up early. For the safety and comfort of all fans, overnight queuing is not permitted at Star Wars Celebration Chicago or the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena. We understand that some attendees enjoy the community aspect of staying overnight with their fellow fans, and there will be plenty of evening events to keep the Celebration party going including the Multi-Fan Club Bash, Second City’s Rogue Pun: A Star Wars Show, evening movie screenings and much more.

A partial allocation of seating capacity for other panels at the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages will be available for fans to reserve admission in advance without a lottery. Panel reservations are available for select panels only and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. In addition to being able to possibly win a panel lottery for the morning panels on the Celebration Stage each day, fans are also able to make one advance LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservation per stage per day for panels on the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages. This does not include the live streaming of the morning panels from the Celebration Stage on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages as those will require a panel lottery win. All panels taking place on the Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, Fan Stage and The Star Wars Show Live! Stage are open to all fans and do not require a lottery win or advance panel reservations.

For all morning panels on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena fans should plan to begin arriving at the scheduled arrival times provided to the panel lottery winners. Winners will receive specific instructions and arrival times for all panel lotteries that they win. Early arrivals will not be accommodated. There will be no stand by line for the first panels of the day on the Celebration Stage as we anticipate that they will be at full capacity well in advance of the show. Panel reservations are not necessary for panels on the Celebration stage after each morning panel concludes. The Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena will not be cleared between panels. Fans are free to stay in their seats all day or move to new seats as other fans depart after the first panel of the day has ended. After the morning panels, fans will be able to enter the Celebration stage as they wish, at any time, to watch any subsequent panels so long as the stage has not reached capacity.

As in years past at Celebration, there will be opportunities for fans to walk up and enter a panel without an advance panel reservation by waiting in queues located at each stage in the West Building. Fans will also have the ability to make LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations on the mobile app (coming soon!) and onsite kiosks the day of the show for any remaining reservations that are available on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages until 15 minutes prior to the panel start time. We recommend arriving at least 35 minutes early and we ask that all fans with advance panel reservations be scanned into the room at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised panel start time or risk forfeiting their panel reservation.

Panel Lotteries

There will be an advance panel lottery for all morning panels on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena and the streaming of the morning panels to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages. This gives more fans the opportunity to secure a seat at our highest demand panels. Fans will have the ability to enter lotteries for multiple panels at the same time. If a panel lottery is won, the winning fan would be given an entitlement to reserve their admission into that specific panel on the Star Wars Celebration mobile app or Celebration website. Any remaining unclaimed admissions after the lottery period ends will be opened for non-lottery advance panel reservations on the mobile app (coming soon!), Celebration website and onsite kiosks for fans that did not previously win a panel lottery. Jedi Master VIP’s are not able to enter any panel lotteries as they already have reserved seats for all panels on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena.

The highest demand panels at Star Wars Celebration Chicago will be the first panel of each day on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena. If a fan wins a panel lottery they will be able to secure admission for themselves and for any additional badges they purchased in their original order. Lotteries for all morning panels on the Celebration Stage and the streaming of those panels to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages will open on Thursday, March 28, and close on Wednesday, April 3. Fans must enter the lottery before midnight central time on Wednesday, April 3. The time in which you enter a lottery has no impact on your chance of winning a lottery. All Panel Lottery winners must claim their reservation before midnight central time on April 5.

Panel reservation confirmations and QR codes can only be redeemed once, so they can’t be duplicated or shared with others. Once a QR code is scanned upon entry into a stage it is invalidated for entry again. You must enter the e-mail address or confirmation code used to purchase your Star Wars Celebration badge to sign up for a panel lottery, or check the status of a previous lottery entry. You only need to have a valid e-mail address or confirmation code used for your Star Wars Celebration Chicago badge purchase to participate in the panel lottery. You are limited to one entry per valid e-mail address per adult badge purchased for each panel lottery of your choice. For example, if you purchased four badges in your original order you will be able to add three people including yourself to your lottery win. Multiple entries for the same panel with the same e-mail address will be void.

Exhibitor Exclusives Lottery

Star Wars Celebration Chicago features some of the top brands from the Star Wars universe selling exclusive items that are not offered anywhere else. Funko, Hasbro and Lego will be utilizing an advance lottery in order to handle the demand and to provide more fans the opportunity to purchase exclusive items from their booth. Fans will be able to enter and manage lotteries for these exhibitor exclusives through the official Star Wars Celebration mobile app (coming soon!) and Celebration website.

Exclusive items from Funko, Hasbro and Lego will be announced on Thursday, March 21. The Exhibitor Exclusives Lottery will open on Tuesday, March 26, and end on Tuesday, April 2. Fans must enter the lottery before midnight central time on Tuesday, April 2. When a fan enters the lottery has no impact on their chance of winning a lottery. Fans that have won an exhibitor exclusive lottery will be notified by Thursday, April 4.

LIGHTSPEED Lane Virtual Queuing

In addition to the LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations, we are also providing fans the ability to use LIGHTSPEED Lane Virtual Queuing to reserve a time to shop in the Celebration Store without the need to stand in line. Fans will use the Star Wars Celebration mobile app to reserve a window of time that they will be allowed to use the LIGHTSPEED Lane entrance to the store. Simply show up at your reserved time and you can go directly into the store to purchase some of the hottest exclusives in the Star Wars Universe.

In order to use the LIGHTSPEED Lane Virtual Queuing and make LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations you must have a valid badge for Star Wars Celebration Chicago and you must activate your badge at www.starwarscelebration.com/activate. An activated badge is required to claim your panel reservation.

After you have activated your badge you will need to download the Star Wars Celebration Mobile App (coming soon!). You can download it at www.swc-mobile.com when it becomes available.

Ok, so I purchased for myself and two friends, all on my email.  Does that mean that we get three entries in each lottery, one for each badge, or just one entry, because it's my email?  I'm a lawyer and I can't parse this.

Entrance Procedures

https://www.starwarscelebration.com/en/Explore/Entrance-Procedures/

Quote

When you arrive at the McCormick place for Star Wars Celebration Chicago, we ask that you follow all of the entrance procedures that are outlined below. We know that you are very excited to get in to the show and start having fun but we want to make sure that everyone is able to enter safely and securely. We have worked closely with the venue, security agencies and local law enforcement to develop some comprehensive entrance procedures that will  keep everyone safe and secure. Thank you in advance for taking these entrance procedures seriously, being prepared and for helping us give you a great experience at Star Wars Celebration Chicago.

There's a lot of important information here, so please read carefully and completely so you'll know exactly what to expect when you get to the building

Save time in the line

Everyone will go through metal detectors upon entry. Feel free to dress in costume and bring whatever you'll need, just know that the less items you have with you, the faster and easier it will be to get through our security checkpoints. You should beprepared to have your bag searched and all props inspected. Be sure to review our Cosplay Prop Policy before you get to the show to make your entrance into Star Wars Celebration Chicago as quick and safe as possible.

Registration

To enter the show, you MUST already have a valid badge. If you don't, you must visit the Will Call counter in Fan Services to obtain your badge before entering either the Main Entrance or the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena. Fan Services is located next to the Shuttles at Gate 41. Simply bring your confirmation email (either on your phone or printed out) and a valid form of ID to the Will Call counter to pick up your badge(s). The hours for Will Call are:

Wednesday, April 10: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
 Thursday, April 11: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
 Friday, April 12: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
 Saturday, April 13: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
 Sunday, April 14: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
 Monday, April 14: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

If any Monday tickets remain when the event starts and you would like to purchase them at the show, you can do so at Fan Services.  Please note: Once a ticket type sells out, no more will be made available to purchase at the show. To purchase tickets for show days that are sold out, you can use LYTE, our official ticket exchange website.

Queuing for the Main Entrance

The Main Entrance to Star Wars Celebration is at the West Building of McCormick Place on the corner of South Prairie Avenue and East Cermak Road. Upon arriving, follow signs and directions from our crew members to Gate 41 at 2301 South Prairie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616. If you are taking a taxi, Uber or Lyft, the drop off is at 2301 South Indiana Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616 (Gate 40) and you will then proceed to Gate 41. Have your badge out and visible as you get ready to go inside the building. No badge? Again, you need your badge to enter the show, so first you'll need to head to the Will Call counters in Fan Services, located next to Gate 41.

After passing through a security checkpoint, you’ll be able to queue to gain entry to the Star Wars Celebration Exhibit Hall, Celebration Show Store, Autographs & Photo Ops, and all stages except for the Celebration Stage which is at the Wintrust Arena.  After arriving, don’t forget to grab a lanyard for your badge at one of several convenient pick-up locations near the Main Entrance.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate fans arriving more than 4 hours prior to the Exhibit Hall opening. Fans arriving prior to this time will not allowed be enter and will be asked to return later. Overnight queuing will not be permitted at Star Wars Celebration or at the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena

If you have already have your activated badge and are planning to go to a panel on the Celebration Stage as the first stop of the day, you can proceed directly to the Wintrust Arena, where you will pass through a security checkpoint. You do not and should not go to McCormick Place first for a panel taking place on the Celebration stage at Wintrust Arena, there is no need to. For more details how to get into panels on the Celebration Stage, visit the panel lotteries and reservations page.

Do I need to show up early to get through Security?

Do I have to go through Security each time I exit and re-enter a building?

Yes, in order for security to be effective, anyone who has exited either McCormick Place or the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena cannot reenter without being re-screened at our security checkpoints.

Will security screenings affect my cosplay?

It won’t! As we mentioned, feel free to dress up for your arrival and the security team will work with all fans to make sure everyone, including cosplayers, gets in quickly and safely.

How does the advance panel lottery work?

In order to enter the lottery fans must have either the original e-mail used to purchase their Star WarsCelebration Chicago badges, or the confirmation number they received when they purchased the badges.

All fans must have valid badges for Star Wars Celebration Chicago for the days their chosen panel takes place in order to participate in the panel lotteries. Any remaining unclaimed admissions after the lottery period ends will be opened for non-lottery, day-of advance panel reservations on the mobile app (coming soon!), the Celebration website and onsite kiosks for fans that did not previously win a panel lottery.

An e-mail with the winning lottery confirmation and QR codes for each member of the group will be sent to the e-mail address associated with your order. For your convenience, you can attach your winning lottery code to your valid, activated badge through the Star Wars Celebration mobile app (coming soon!)

How do I submit a panel lottery submission with a group of friends or family who bought badges separately?

Fans may enter a panel lottery for each of the days their badge is valid for, as a group with size determined by the number of badges associated with the original order confirmation number or e-mail previously entered, up to a maximum group size of 6.

Fans will also have the ability to group their lottery entries together with other friends and family, up to a maximum of 6 people.
If you would like to sit in the same seating section as your friends and family who purchased badges on separate orders you will need to submit your panel lottery submission with a shared group code.

Group codes are available on the lottery submission webpage. On the webpage select “I am submitting as a group” and you will be shown both a field where you can enter a group code that you have been given by friends and family as well as a unique group code that you can share with friends and family. If you want to be in the same seating section make sure everyone in your party enters the lottery as a group before the lottery takes place.

If a panel lottery is won, the winning group and the others in their group, up to a maximum of 6, will win admission to that specific panel. In order to enter a panel lottery, you must have the email used to order your badges or your order confirmation number.

What types of badges are able to enter the advance panel lottery?

All 5-Day adult badges and media badges are eligible to submit for any panel lottery available. All single day adult badges are able to submit for any panel lottery available taking place the day their badge is valid for. Special Guest and Exhibitor badges are not eligible to participate in panel lotteries. Kids’ badges are not able to submit for any panel lottery but adult badges have the option of adding additional lottery submissions for kids’ badges at the time a submission is made. Children 6 and under do not need a badge for Star Wars Celebration Chicago. During the panel lottery process, you will be asked to indicate if you have a child under 6 attending. Children under 6 will not count against your group party size for purposes of the panel lottery. Jedi Master VIP badges are not able to submit for any panel lottery as they already are guaranteed access to premium reserved seating at the Celebration Stage for all panels.

Are all panels on the Celebration Stage part of the advance panel lottery?

No, only the first panels of the day on the Celebration stage are part of the lottery. All other panels are open to fans so long as there is seating capacity available in the Arena.

Which panels are part of the lottery?

The first panels taking place each day on the Celebration stage at the Wintrust Arena will be part of the lottery as well as the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages which will be streaming the morning panels live from the Celebration Stage. The panels that are included in the lottery are:

•Friday - 11:00AM – 12:00PM - Star Wars: Episode IX, Live on the Celebration stage and streamed to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages
•Saturday - 11:00AM – 12:00PM - Bringing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Life at Disney Parks, Live on the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena
•Sunday - 11:00AM – 12:00PM - The Mandalorian, Live on the Celebration stage and streamed to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages
•Monday - 11:00AM – 12:00PM - Star Wars: Phantom Menace 20th Anniversary Celebration, Live on the Celebration stage and streamed to the Galaxy Stage

If I bought multiple badges on a single order do I only get one entry into the lottery?

If your order had multiple adult badges purchased you will be given one entry per adult badge on the order. For example, if you purchased four adult badges you would be given four entries to the lotteries of your choosing. If you ordered two adult badges in your order you would get two entries. If you have ordered kids badges you will be able to include kids as part of your lottery submission.

When can I enter the advance panel lottery?

Lotteries for all morning panels on the Celebration Stage and the streaming of those panels to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages will open on Friday March 29th and close on Thursday April 4th. Fans must enter the lottery before 11:59 PM central time on Thursday April 4th. The time in which you enter a lottery has no impact on your chance of winning a lottery. Multiple entries for the same panel with the same e-mail address, confirmation number or badge activation number will be void.

Where do I enter into the advance panel lottery?

Beginning on Friday March 29th advance panel lottery submissions can entered by visiting: https://www.starwarscelebration.com/Features/Panel-Reservations-and-Lotteries/

How do I show proof of my advance panel lottery win?

You will be sent an email with a confirmation and QR code after a successful panel reservation is made or lottery has been won. Please print these confirmation codes or keep them handy in your mobile device, and treat them as you would any other event ticket. These tickets will be scanned during entry to the Wintrust Arena. For your convenience, if you have activated your badge you may attach your panel ticket to your badge and simply use the QR code on your badge or the confirmation code in the Star Wars Celebration mobile app. Winning lottery confirmations and QR codes can only be redeemed once, so they can’t be duplicated or shared with others. Once a QR code is scanned it is voided and may not be reused.

When should I arrive at the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena for the first panel of the day?

If a fan wins a panel lottery for admission into the first panel of the day at the Celebration stage at the Wintrust Arena they will receive specific instructions and arrival times for all panel lotteries that they win. All panel lottery winners should plan to begin arriving at the specific scheduled arrival times provided. Early arrivals will not be accommodated. Due to high demand, there will not be a stand-by line for the first panels of the day on the Celebration Stage

Where do I go to enter the Celebration Stage?

The only entrance into the Celebration stage is at the corner of South Indiana Ave and East Cermak Rd. There are no other entry points into the Celebration stage open to Celebration attendees.

If I win an advance panel lottery entitlement for the livestream on the Galaxy or Twin Suns Stages where do I go in the morning to queue for those stages?

For entry into the West building, where the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages are located, please proceed to the main entrance outside Gate 41 along East Cermak Rd. Entry into the queue for the West building and the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages will only be allowed from South Prairie Ave. There will be separate queues for fans with valid lottery entitlements and panel reservations for the morning panels. Queue position will be maintained as we escort fans to the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages from the Gate 41 queue. As a reminder, overnight queueing is strictly prohibited. Early arrivals will not be accommodated. Due to high demand, there will be not be a stand-by line for the first panels of the day streamed from the Celebration Stage.

LIGHTSPEED VIRTUAL PANEL RESERVATIONS update

"Panel reservations can be made starting April 11th at 10:00AM CST with any activated badge."

https://www.starwarscelebration.com/Features/Panel-Reservations-and-Lotteries/

Quote

How do panel reservations work?

Fans will be able to use LIGHTSPEEDVirtual Panel Reservations to reserve admission for panels all weekend long at Star Wars Celebration Chicago. Fans will have the ability to make advance panel reservations for panels on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages. This provides the opportunity for more fans to enjoy some of our most exciting panels which would have previously required overnight camping and wristbands. A fan must have an activated badge in order to make a panel reservation through the mobile app (coming soon!) or online.

A partial allocation of seating capacity for all panels at the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages (except for the streaming of panels from the Celebration stage Friday, Sunday and Monday mornings) will be available for fans to reserve admission in advance without a lottery. Panel reservations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. In addition to being able to possibly win a panel lottery for the morning panels on the Celebration Stage each day, fans may make one advance LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservation per stage per day for panels on the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages. Please note: This does not include the live streaming of the morning panels from the Celebration Stage on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages as those will require a panel lottery win. All panels taking place on the Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, Fan Stage and The Star Wars Show Live! Stage are open to all fans and do not require a lottery win or advance panel reservations.

How do I show proof of my panel reservation?

Once you have made a panel reservation with an activated badge, you will be able to view the QR code and virtual reservation confirmation directly within the Star WarsCelebration mobile app (coming soon!). In order to enter a panel, you may use either your in-app QR code or your badge for validation into the theater. Please note: Panel reservations must be redeemed at the theater at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled show time. Panel reservations expire 15 minutes prior to the start of each show.

Can I give my panel reservation or advance panel lottery entitlement to someone else?

No. You cannot give your panel reservation or your lottery entitlement to anyone else, they are non-transferable. You are able to add up to five friends or family members to your lottery group prior to the lottery taking place but you are not able to transfer your winning lottery entitlement to someone else after the lottery is over.

Do I need a reservation to go to a panel?Do I need a reservation to go to a panel?

As in years past at Celebration, there will be opportunities for fans to walk up and enter a panel without an advance panel reservation by waiting in stand-by queues located at each stage in the West Building. Seating capacity for all panels is limited and queues for panels may close at any time based on availability. There will be no queue or stand-by line for panels which require a lottery as they are considered at capacity in advance. A partial allocation of seating capacity for all panels at the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages (except for the streaming of panels from the Celebration stage Friday, Sunday and Monday mornings) will be available for fans to reserve admission in advance without a lottery. All panels taking place on the Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, Fan Stage and The Star Wars Show Live! Stage are open to all fans and do not require a lottery win or advance panel reservations.

Which panels can I make a reservation for?

You can make reservations for any panel on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages except for the streaming of the morning panels from the Celebration stage on Friday, Sunday and Monday.
No reservations are available for panels on the Celebration stage after each opening panel of the day as the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena will not be cleared between panels. Fans are free to stay in their seats all day or move to new seats as other fans depart after the first panel of the day has ended. After the morning panels, fans will be able to enter the Celebration stage as they wish, at any time, to watch any subsequent panels so long as the stage has not reached capacity.
There are no reservations available for any panel taking place on the Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, Fan Stage and The Star Wars Show Live! Stage, they are open to all fans and do not require a lottery win or advance panel reservations.

What types of badges are able to make panel reservations?

All 5 day adult badges, Jedi Master VIP badges, and media badges are able to make any panel reservation available for all days of the event. All single day adult badges can make reservations for panels taking place the day their badge is valid for. At this time, Special Guest and Exhibitor badges are not able to make panel reservations. Kids’ badges are not able to make panel reservations but adult badges have the option of adding panel reservations for Kids’ badges at the time a reservation is made. Children 5 and under do not need a badge for Star WarsCelebration. We ask that all children under 5 sit on their parent or guardian’s lap for any panel reservation the adult makes.

Do I have to activate my badge to make a panel reservation?

Yes! An activated badge is required to make a panel reservation. Badge activation can be done at www.starwarscelebration.com/activat

When can I make a panel reservation?

Panel reservations can be made starting April 11th at 10:00AM CST with any activated badge.

Where do I make a panel reservation?

We strongly suggest you download and use the Star Wars Celebration Chicago Mobile App for panel reservations as well as a variety of other extremely useful features. In addition there will be kiosks located throughout Star Wars Celebration where you can make day-of reservations if there are reservations available.

Do I need the mobile app to make and use panel reservations?

No but we do strongly suggest you download and use the Star WarsCelebration Chicago Mobile App for panel reservations as well as a variety of other extremely useful features. In addition there will be kiosks located throughout Star WarsCelebration where you can make day-of reservations if there are remaining reservations available. You MUST have an activated badge in order to make any panel reservations. A stand-by line at the queue of each stage is also available.

When should I arrive at the Galaxy or Twin Suns stages to enter with my panel reservation?

We recommend arriving at least 35 minutes early and we ask that all fans with advance panel reservations be scanned into the room at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised panel start time or risk forfeiting their panel reservation.

If I purchased a badge from someone else or through Lyte can I still make a panel reservation?

Yes. Fans that are not the original purchaser of the badge just need to activate their badge with their personal e-mail or order confirmation number re-issued by Showclix and you will be able to participate. Once they have an activated badge they will be able to make panel reservations for select panels through the Star Wars Celebration Chicago Mobile App beginning on April 11th. Unfortunately, tickets purchased outside of Lyte may not be eligible to participate in panel reservations or panel lotteries.

Are seats in the theaters, stages and panel rooms open to anyone or are there assigned seats or seating sections?

LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservations provide peace of mind and eliminate the need for fans to camp out overnight. Fans who win a panel lottery for admission to the first panels each morning on the Celebration Stage will be assigned a seating section in advance of the show so there is no need to queue up early. Fans are asked to only sit in their assigned section and to use all of the seats in that section. For the safety and comfort of all fans, overnight queuing is not permitted at Star Wars Celebration Chicago or the Celebration Stage at the Wintrust Arena.
For fans who make panel reservations or win an advance panel lottery for panels at the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages there are no reserved seating sections. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis including the first panels of the day that are streamed from the Celebration stage at the Wintrust Arena.

If I want to go to a panel with my friends and family how do we get panel reservations for seats next to each other?

There is no general admission assigned or reserved seating at the Galaxy or Twin Suns Stages. A panel reservation is valid for entry, but doesn’t guarantee that you will be able to sit together. We recommend getting to the panel 35 minutes in advance, and to keep your party together in order to help ensure you can sit together. Saving of seats is strictly forbidden.

If I pick up my badge at the Fan Services area at Star Wars Celebration how can I make a panel reservation?

After a fan picks up their badge in Fan Services, they must simply activate their badge and they will be able to access the LIGHTSPEED Virtual Panel Reservation system. Once they have an activated badge you will be able to make panel reservations through the Star Wars Celebration Chicago Mobile App. Fans are also able to use the onsite kiosks the day of the show for any remaining reservations that are available on the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages until 15 minutes prior to the panel start time. All panels taking place on the Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, Fan Stage and The Star Wars Show Live! Stage are open to all fans and do not require a lottery win or advance panel reservations.

If I pick up my badge at the Fan Services area at Star Wars Celebration how can I enter an advance panel lottery?

All advance panel lotteries will have already taken place by the time you are able to pick up your badges onsite at Star Wars Celebration Chicago. All advance panel lotteries will close on Thursday April 4th. However you do not need to have your badge to enter into the lottery, instead you can use your order confirmation number or the email address used on your original order to enter into the lottery.

Will I only be allowed to win one panel lottery for the whole weekend?

There is only one panel lottery taking place each day, Friday - Monday, and you have the same chances of winning a panel lottery each day. You can enter all four panel lotteries as long as you have a valid badge for the days your chosen panel takes place. You have an equal chance to win all four panel lotteries and go to all four panels. Winning one panel lottery does not preclude you from winning another. You do have to submit for each panel lottery that you want to attend. Entering into and winning a panel lottery does not preclude you from making a panel reservation at the galaxy or twin suns stage for non-lottery panels.

STAR WARS CELEBRATION SIGNINGS: This year, autographings are going to be run a bit differently than in years past. You will need to buy a book from either Anderson's Bookstore (who will be hosting many of the author signings) or from the Del Rey booth before you can join the autograph line.

Having done so, though, you can also get autographs on other books you brought from home.

This is the policy for all authors signing at Anderson's, not just me. I assume the lines will be properly managed so that if you buy a book you WILL be able to get it autographed. (Just make sure to keep your receipt.)

I'll have a signing on each of the five days of the convention, plus a couple of panels throughout the weekend.

So they originally said that you’d have to claim lottery slots and there would be a way to claim unused spots through the panel reservation system.  Apparently that’s not the case anymore.  So for those of us who didn’t win any of the big panels, now we’re SOL.  I loathe online lotteries.

Yes, the info online says those panels would be considered full while the rejection emails say "If any lottery winners are not able to attend the panel those seats will be released for advance panel reservations in the official Star Wars Celebration Mobile App."

I'm confused as to how ReedPop didn't make sure only authorized badges could enter the lotteries. I've heard reports of people with single-day badges winning lotteries for days they don't have a badge for.

I don’t think you can use that for the big panel. Only for the others. The first panel of each day is lottery only.

Well, drat. I do know a person would have to reserve before the panel (or shopping line) is happening, I was wondering when the app lets that day's panels show up to put a reservation in. Like, if it is that day, is it open at midnight, 6 am, 2 hours before, etc.? I am assuming that if you have the 5 day ticket that you can only reserve one day at a time?
