Abrams’ Bad Robot Production and Fringe executive producer J.H. Wyman, Almost Human is the story of Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban — Star Trek), and his life-like android partner Dorian (Michael Ealy — Underworld Awakening).

From executive producer Julie Plec comes The Originals, a spinoff of The CW’s #1 series among Adults 18—34 and Comic-Con fan-favorite The Vampire Diaries. From executive producers Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Phil Klemmer (Chuck) and Danny Cannon (Nikita), The Tomorrow People is a story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically.

The 100

97 years ago, Earth was devastated by a nuclear apocalypse, and mankind was nearly destroyed. The only survivors were the inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. Looks like The Maze Runner will be there in some form. My guess is they're referring to the movie currently filming with Dylan O'Brien, but for all I know, this might be in reference to the book series:

@jamesdashner
If you are a fan of The Maze Runner, I highly recommend you get your tickets to Comic Con. Just sayin... #sdcc

Enterprise Bridge Restoration Q&A Panel

Star Trek Enterprise D Bridge Restoration
GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!

According to San Diego Comic Con, we WILL be doing a "Q & A Panel" about our Bridge Restoration July 18-21. Hopefully we will be able to get some of the original designers of the Enterprise-D Bridge as well as some of the stars of Star Trek TNG to appear.

We're still awaiting confirmation on how much of our Bridge we will able to bring for people to sit in the chairs and take photos, but this is AMAZING news.

The Art of Collaboration and the Collaboration of Artists - Movies have always been known as a collaborative art, and as films have become ever more complex with CGI, 3D, and the ever-evolving digital camera, that collaboration has never been more vital, particularly in the art department. This panel will discuss how art directors, illustrators, scenic artists, set designers, model makers, and others work together to make the make-believe believable.

Motion Picture and Television Illustrators of the Art Directors Guild - Film starts with an idea that must be brought to life by a team of creative men and women. The illustrators and storyboard artists use their skills and imaginations to craft the transcendent visuals of the big and small screen, be it adventure on distant worlds or earthly hovels.

Friday, July 19, 2013
4:30 — 5:30 PM
Room 24 ABC

Film and TV Production Designers of the Art Directors Guild - In collaboration with a highly skilled art department, the production designer lays out the plan that will create entire civilizations to warm the heart, and exotic worlds to inspire the imagination.

IGN has a few things on their list I haven't seen elsewhere, including what looks like the Cartoon Network lineup:

Adventure Time (Cartoon Network)
Ben 10 Omniverse (Cartoon Network)
Annoying Orange (Cartoon Network)
Clarence (Cartoon Network)
Regular Show (Cartoon Network)
Rick and Morty (Cartoon Network) - since Community's coming, I'd say it's a good bet Dan Harmon will be on this panel
Star-Crossed (CW)
Steven Universe (Cartoon Network)
Uncle Grandpa (Cartoon Network)

“How to Get New Coverage (for Small Press)” returns again this year on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in Room 8 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Here’s the description: Small Press Publishers, what makes the difference between an item that will get news coverage, previews, interviews and what doesn’t? A lot of publishers have no idea what to submit to the press, how to submit it and why they are being overlooked for coverage. Comics journalist Rik Offenberger (First Comics News, Archie Comics) moderates this panel on just what it takes to get coverage with the comic journalists themselves telling you what they are looking for in your submission.

Panelists include (in alphabetical order) Albert Ching (Newsarama), Glenn Hauman (Comic Mix), Holly Golightly (BroadSword Comics), Rich Johnston (Bleeding Cool), Alan Kistler (Comic Mix), Heidi MacDonald (The Beat), Kiel Phegley (CBR), Chris Squires (Buckley Radio), Tanya Tate (First Comics News), Chris Thompson (First Comics News), J.C. Vaughn (Scoop) Josh Waldrop (M1W Entertainment) and Bryan Young (Huffington Post, Big Shiny Robot). Find out what it takes to self-promote and make a significant impact on your ability to sell your comic.

Full Time Creative Work on Part Time Schedule
Sunday, July 21
Room: 24ABC 4:00p.m. — 5:00p.m.

Having a goal, a good idea, discipline and skills is only the start of what you need for your project to succeed. Knowing the basics of group dynamics, forming then working with a group without mortally wounding each other is THE difference between your projects success or failure. This panel is the one stop place to learn the 101’s of those topics. No matter which industry (comics, illustration, movies, design, animation or costuming / cosplay), “breaking in” has never been more apt a term than in today’s media. It is a full-time job and you only have part-time hours to accomplish it. To be completely honest most of achieving your goals rests with someone(‘s) helping you and each other with the skills, training or talents any one individual doesn’t have. Topics that will be covered will pertain to ANY group with a goal from hobbist to professional purposes as well as any interest of geek or creative culture. Though topics cover a myriad of organizational subjects, usually the focus stems from: tips and pitfalls, different kinds of leadership that matches your group, importance of starting everyone on the same page and how to keep everyone there, a variety of angles on deadlines and work environments. The panelists have been specifically chosen to represent a broad cross section of levels of authority, departments, media, work pipelines and sizes of organizations so as to talk touch on a variety of topics and more importantly to answer questions specific to your projects — whatever media or goal you are working in. To accomplish this diversity the panelists also come from a variety of media including: illustration, writing, design, animation, podcasting, and live action filming. Hear Topher Davila (Art Director, GeekdomWear.com and Co-Creator/Co-Producer, “We’re Always Like This” ), Sean Glumace (Digital Media Instructor at Golden West College, Comic Book Letterer), Kevin Flessing (Co-Writer “We’re Always Like This”), Mario Martinez (Co-Creator, TomatoTV), Aleister Gilgrim (Creative Director, ICS Mobile), Brendan Creecy (Radio BrendoMan podcast), Ron Coleman (Molecular Geneticist and Writer), Jonelle Davila (Co-Producer, “We’re Always Like This”) and Chris Dickens (Writer and Co-Creator of “Vigilante Project”) provide content that is a mix of speaking, questions and some short interactive applications where the audience can directly apply the topics covered

More SDCC News: We also continue to receive a lot of questions about our plans for San Diego Comic Con. As I shared in April, we'll be holding our own fan event on the evening of July 19th, but now that we've finished coordinating with SDCC, I'm pleased to tell you that we'll also be putting in an official appearance at SDCC itself: in the next few days, we should be able to share details about an official Veronica Mars panel and cast signings at the Warner Bros booth.

Steampunk as a Superculture

Steampunk began as a literary movement often described as “Victorian Science Fiction”. Certainly the written word is a key ingredient, but Steampunk is showing signs of becoming a multicultural/multidimensional fandom. Panelists are: Paul Guinan (Creator of Boilerplate: History of a Victorian Era Robot, the basis for an upcoming feature by JJ Abrams); Brian Kesinger (Disney Artist & author of Walking Your Octopus); Trevor Crafts (Executive Producer, Lantern City), & Thomas Willeford (Founder, Brute Force Studios & author of Steampunk Gear, Gadgets, and Gizmos: A Maker's Guide to Creating Modern Artifacts).

Veronique created, moderated and premiered this unique panel on both days at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo LA 2012, to much acclaim. Her immersion, in various capacities, within Steampunk over the years, has given her a bird’s eye perspective on this ever-growing genre. This drawing from various sub-cultures is making it something greater than the sum total of its parts.

Saw something that Peter Jackson won't be able to be there due to reshooting some Hobbit scenes.  People are interpreting that as the Hobbit not being there at all.  Not sure if that's true or not.

In the video Jackson states he told WB he doesn't have anything or anyone to send, that he can't afford the time to send any actors.

Orphan Black

The cast of BBC America’s Orphan Black - including Critics Choice Award champ Tatiana Maslany - will be making their way to San Diego to participate in their first-ever Comic-Con panel, TVLine has learned exclusively.

On Friday, July 19 at 7 pm, Maslany will invade Room 7AB alongside co-stars Jordan Gavaris and Dylan Bruce as well as Orphan Black co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett for an hour-long discussion/Q&A about the thriller’s smash first season and (fingers crossed) an early preview of Season 2. (The show doesn’t resume production for a few months, but Manson and Fawcett will hopefully drop a few pieces of intel.)

Sherlock

The panel will include Steven Moffat (co-creator, executive producer and writer), Mark Gatiss (co-creator, executive producer and writer) and Sue Vertue (producer). We’re told the actors will not be attending, but there will be “surprises.” A Sherlock-loving EW writer named Hibberd will moderate. The panel’s exact day and time will be released by Comic-Con tomorrow.

From George RR Martin:

The next convention on my calendar is the San Diego Comicon.

My dance card is already almost full. Yes, there will be a GAME OF THRONES panel, and I'll be on it. It is scheduled for Friday, July 19, 2:50 to 3:45, in Hall H To be followed by an autographing at the WB booth. Of course, I'll be joined on the panel by half a dozen cast members (no, don't know which ones yet) and David and Dan.

I will also be doing a signing on Saturday, July 20, from 11:00am to noon, in the official autograph area. That one is for Bantam.

Working on two more signings: one for Avatar Comics, which will be launching their new comic of THE SKIN TRADE (based on my novella, scripted by Daniel Abraham) at the con, and one with the marvelous Gary Gianni, the artist for the 2014 ICE & FIRE calendar, which will debut in San Diego. Details on those when I have 'em.

I am not on any panels besides the one for GAME OF THRONES, nor will I be doing any readings (come to worldcon for that), but there should be plenty of chances for anyone who wants me to deface their books, maps, games, videotapes, or body parts with my illegible scrawl. But PLEASE, if you want my autograph, come to one of these four signings. Don't stop me in the hotel lobby or on the street or in a restaurant when I am trying to have dinner.
