Title: 20th Century Fox Panel, Hall H, 4:00pm - 6:20pm
Post by: SimonWilliams on June 27, 2014, 06:56:58 AM
Apparently this year the 20th Century Fox Panel will be 3 hours long and on a Friday (to avoid WB, Sony and Marvel from taking up the day). Also according to the author of the Maze Runner (which will be there), will be from 4 to 7.

In addition to The Maze Runner, rumor is we'll be seeing the Deadpool movie there, or at least a short teaser for it.

Any guesses as to what else might be there this year?

I'm guessing X-Force, Peanuts, Frankenstein and Fantastic Four.

I'm just glad it moved. One less thing to fight with on Saturday.

I'm hoping DC/WB (maybe they'd split for this) would move to Sunday to fill the 2 hours now empty because of no Who or Breaking Bad. It would make sense, in order to try and "steal" Marvel's thunder.

Can't see them moving to Sunday. Also its one of those days a lot of people don't even go. If rumors are true they could outdo Marvel on just exclusive footage. Its less than a week til Guardians of the Galaxy premieres so whatever they show the public will be able to see the next week. Dr Strange hasn't started filming yet, Ant-Man starts filming that same month and there's still no shooting date on Agent Carter. They could have an Avengers 2 panel and make some announcements but as far as early footage it'll just be Avengers 2 this year.

On the other hand, there's DC have been shooting Batman v Superman for months now, and if Dwayne Johnson's tweet about shooting a DC film this year are any indication we should have some Shazam footage too (since they'd have to finish shooting in time for his GI Joe 3 shoot in January). If they can show us the supposed BvS teaser, a Shazam teaser, release their lineup and bring out the Justice League cast they'll totally one up Marvel.

I think moving Fox to Friday is generally good, but am wondering where Sony will go.  They were usually the last panel on Friday.

Also, anyone wanting to attend Fox and DC/Marvel will find that when they exit Hall H after 7pm on Friday that the line will already be well started for Saturday Hall H.  I'm sure there won't be any problem getting into Hall H again, but getting great seats for both days won't be possible unless someone is saving you a spot in line (not that I would suggest that or anything).

Maybe the Sony panel will be first on Friday, then the TV panels, and then Fox.

Last year on Friday, you had Veronica Mars and The World's End first, so that's 2 hours in the morning that a studio could use.

I am happy it moved, and hope it will be at the end of the day, so that I have a shot at going. If it's at the beginning, I will cross it off my list, as I know the television panels will be a big draw on that day. I mostly want to go because of Maze Runner, but would like to go to a studio panel-I have never been to one. Since I didn't think I would be able to go at all before, it's not a deal breaker if I end up not being able to go. Does that make sense? I have weekend brain!

ETA-I definitely have weekend brain-it is from 4-7. I don't know what I was thinking... ::)

Why is this the first I've heard that there's a Deadpool movie? I'm so ashamed.

It's been rumored for years but recently those rumors have picked up speed as some have seen the scripts.

No Ryan Reynolds is a sad development though... he would make a perfect deadpool.

True, looks like the whole Deadpool coming to Comic Con and Reynolds leaving was a rumor purposely started by a Deadpool fan who hated Ryan Reynolds. So, no teaser for SDCC. Which makes sense considering Reynolds saying about Deadpool "Its like the worst relationship I've ever had" basically Fox starting pre-production and immediately after shutting it down for years and years.

We'll be seeing a lot of films in the Fox's 3 hour block and maybe a shout-out to Deadpool but I think right now their prorities will be more on X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Force than Deadpool.

Excellent news!  My excitement about the project went down dramatically when I read that.

Well if Kevin Smith is accurate, there's no way this panel goes three hours.  Kev said his panel starts at 6:35 PM on Friday in Hall H.

Simon Kinberg says no Fantastic Four at SDCC:

http://www.latino-review.com/news/exclusive-talking-fantastic-four-and-x-men-apocalypse-with-simon-kinberg

Quote
LR: You are involved with FANTASTIC FOUR; will we see any of it at this year’s Comic-Con?

Simon Kinberg: No, I can definitively officially tell you that there will not be anything from FANTASTIC FOUR at this year’s Comic Con. We are still very much in the middle of shooting and we don’t want to show anything until it’s ready and it’s not ready yet. We want the first stuff that we show from the film to really blow people away, and it will but we have got to wait until it’s ready.

LR: You don’t want to do a disservice to the film…

Simon Kinberg: Yes, we are hopefully going to be refining the way the people see the FANTASTIC FOUR movies. There are so many things we are doing different from the previous film and so many things different from other comic books films. When we really step forward we want it to be with our best foot forward. Instead of rushing something together for the Con we’d rather really wait until we have that perfect first image, perfect first sequence and first scene to show people. And I know that there’s a lot of people that think that’s the big surprise from Fox this year at the Con and knowing that I’m talking to a reporter and I’m going on record that I’m saying unfortunately that will not be a surprise for the fans of Comic-Con this year. Obviously the Comic-Con world is incredible important to FANTASTIC FOUR and because of that we want to give them the best version of what we are making.

LR: There’s always New York Comic-Con.

Simon Kinberg: Yes, there is New York, there’s Wonder Con, there is a lot of other places were we may indeed pop up with a surprise down the road. It just didn’t time out well this year and we are really so focused on making the film here in Baton Rouge and its going great. You have a lot of people that want to do something really special.

I was wondering this too. I get the feeling there will be a mass exodus after GoT anyway.

We stayed long enough to see Daniel Radcliffe. Lots of people walked out after GoT.
