I am looking forward to the Negan/Whisperer developments.  They obviously think they can use him to their advantage or he would have been killed outright.
But they don't know what they have let in to their group and it's going to be interesting to watch Negan manipulate them.

It's also possible that Alpha just wants to question him. Since Negan has been in his cell/Alexandria this whole time, she might not know much about him. Besides, Alpha likes to kill people in front of her pack, to demonstrate her power and intimidate them.

Did you guys see the sneak peek on Talking Dead? I was laughing so hard... classic Negan! He's going on and on, not 'realizing' why they're called 'The Whisperers....'. (I put 'realizing' in quotation marks, because Negan really isn't that dumb... I believe he is just trying to get under Beta's skin... so to speak...).

Yes, I think that was the best development of the episode.  To be honest, I wasn't a fan of comics Negan at ALL until The Whisperer storyline, when his character went from "obvious comic booky bad guy" to "slightly nuanced and interesting."

The final scene with Siddiq and Dante deserved a little more time to show Siddiq's final awareness of who Dante really was and to let us absorb the horror of that as well.
The teaser for next week on Talking Dead showing Siddiq opening his eye was a kick.  Does he live long enough to tell Rosita what happened or leave a message somehow?
But what sparked me for next week was Lydia running off.  Will she find and reconnect with Negan?  That would be very problematic for Alfa lol.

I'm pretty sure Siddiq opening his eye in the teaser was him re-animating. But that is enough to tell Rosita what happened, because Dante is telling her something else. Heck, Walker Siddiq might attack him right in front of her. I agree, that was an awesome teaser!

Lydia re-connecting with Negan would be great, but for that to happen, she would have to re-join the Whisperers and then they wold know that she was alive. That would cause its own problems. But she might find the bunny that Alpha left for her in the woods.

First of all, thanks for the great recaps. Always a good read.
I enjoyed the first half of this season.  In my opinion, Angela Kang has made a huge impact in the series improvement.
I was a little disappointed in the "cliff hanger" because you could see it coming a mile away.  And yes, more Negan please  ^-^

Yes, I was definitely hoping for something a little more exciting as the mid-season finale!

My reviews for episodes 9 and 10 have been published. While I wasn't as impressed with the season opener, I very much enjoyed this week's episode.

I agree that it was a good episode.  It does lose me when key characters that should die are left alive for plot convenience.  Either don't put them in that situation or let them die.  Also, that whole scene with Beta in the cell I found unbelievable.  If someone had broken into my compound and killed a bunch of people, I wouldn't be trying to capture them.  I would put down the threat.  I know they set up an excuse for this earlier on in a scene where they were admonished to capture and not kill the Whisperers, but that's just a plot convenience.

I was wondering how Beta knew exactly where to go and how he got the key to open the cell. The only thing that makes sense is that there was another informant in Alexandria helping him out.

I agree, Laura should have killed him.

Overall I like the season, but TWD continues it's traditional of things I just can't buy.  It's too much to believe.  In last week's episode, it's the capabilities of the Whisperers.  They went from people living out in the open along with the walkers to people that can build tunnel systems, harvest resin bombs, build super sling shots and field a well equipped archery force.  They could have taken hilltop with the mass of Walkers alone.  Why was all that necessary?
