Is anyone besides me watching the new CW Stargirl series?
« on: June 10, 2020, 08:23:24 AM »
Starting a couple of weeks ago, I started watching the new CW series, Stargirl.

I hadn't seen the panel for this show, but knew it was coming.  With the end of the current season of The Flash, and me already being a fan of Legends of Tomorrow, I decided to give the series a chance.

So far I am enjoying the show.  I'm not much on discussing series, mostly I read here what others think then join in.  Any other watchers out there?

What do you think of the show so far?

I'm an old-timer so I had a comic book connection with the first DC shows on the CW like Smallville, Arrow and The Flash.  I like that Luke Wilson is part of the series.  For some reason The Justice Society reminds me of the superhero members of the movie feature of The Watchmen.

So far I am looking forward to seeing how the second generation of the Justice Society is coming along.

I'm watching.  Kinda wish they'd speed up adding the other heroes, rather than stretching it over episodes.  Just get right to the new JSA already...

I have to disagree that is one of the things I have hated about the DC movies.  I liked them building the story and giving me something to look forward to  :)

I'm watching and enjoying very much. I'm also in the camp of "I like the pace". There's often a newness and surprise factor with origin stories, so I'm fine if they take the whole first season building up to the full JSA and their inevitable showdown with the main villains.

I stand corrected.  The pace is just right.  I think NETFLIX has me spoiled, waiting a week between episodes has been torture because it's been so good. I won't post plot spoilers, but episode 11 was one of my favorites, and I don't even think the main character ever appeared dressed as STARGIRL.  I thought Brec Bassinger was really good at conveying her feelings just with her facial expressions. My only complaint has been the treatment of the step brother as an afterthought, which I assume might be building to something?

I agree.  Stargirl is completely new to me so everything is a discovery and I am enjoying it so far.  I'm keeping myself from doing any kind of research to see what is in store for the step brother.

As with Snowpiercer, I had no interest in watching Stargirl until this thread.  I started watching it a few episodes back and it's become one of the 3 shows I make sure to watch every week.  The last couple of episodes in particular have been strong.

IMO, the second to last episode was one of, if not, the best of the season.  The season finale though, was a mixed bag.  It was the ending.  I don't know what to make of it.  It dragged out.  It both seemed to wrap up the series and hint at another season.  They did that many weeks later thing that normally happens at the end of a series but yet they had scenes introducing new characters for a follow on season.  Were they trying to cover both bases when they filmed it months ago?  It's been announced that there will be a season 2 now.
