Just started reading The Passage. I'm glad the show isn't premiering in the fall, because this one is going to take a while! I'm reading it on my Kindle, and after my lunch hour I was only like 4% in, and I thought, that can't be right... but then I looked and it's almost 900 pages. Hope it's worth it!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Well, it's audio, does that count? Paris is reading Metal.

It's worth it (I think.) And if it helps, parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy are actually shorter,  (unlike most authors.) Also thanks so much for your recommendation about The Terror, it was spot on.

Yes Mark, Dark Knights Metal. Oh and Peculiar Children, book 2.

I'm also reading Sam and Max and a book about Obama and Biden solving a crime. It's in my bag to start tomorrow at work. It's been slow.

Kass is reading  Farnsteins Freehold. Apocalyptic theme.

I'm watching Sharp Objects starring Amy Adams.  I remember reading Gone Girl and then running out and buying the other books by Gillian Flynn and reading them, but as the show unfolded I couldn't remember it at all.  So I found the book in my bookcase and it was pristine, not a wrinkled page.  Apparently I never read it.  I took care of that :).  Old lady brain troubles  8)

I'm currently reading The Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne Trilogy by Brian Staveley.  Not bad and keeps my attention.  Not necessarily Epic Fiction, but not a bubblegum read either. (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)

I just finished Waking Gods -- book 2 of The Themis Files by Sylvain Neuvel. His first book -- Sleeping Giants -- was his debut novel, and it had me hooked almost right from the beginning. I love his approach to narrating, where each chapter is a "file", either a voice recording of a conversation (one of the main characters has a habit of recording all his conversations), a personal log, a newspaper clipping, or a transcript of a news broadcast. Basic premise is that they find pieces of a giant robot buried all over Earth, and the journey of figuring out who built it and why and the consequences of piecing the robot back together.

The books are quick reads. If you're dedicated, you could finish the book in a day. Maybe even two books if you're a fast reader. Book 3 (I think the last book) -- Only Human -- just came out on hardcover, but I'll wait for the paperback before finishing it off.

While I oppose drawing on books in general, I'll allow this one. Random thrift shop find.

Finally finished The Passage! Very long but very good. The last page really took my breath away because it was very unexpected.

Considering what happens about a third into the book, I'm very curious as to how they plan to adapt this for TV, and if they are going to completely change what happens.

I definitely want to read the rest of the trilogy, but next up for me is the new Cormoran Strike novel, Lethal White
