Does this suggests a lower attendance rate for 2022?

I think so. A friend of a friend who works at one of the big 5 said they usually keep rooms to have availability for their business class folks (we all know the hotels really keep them hoping people going to the con will pay big bucks). As it gets closer to the con and in order to sell all rooms they will likely be releasing them bit by bit.
I think this is year will be the odd one out because not as many people will be going including those who despite not having badges still go and those who refunded their badges.

With so much hotel inventory still out there I believe that this year will be much more manageable in crowd sizes. A large company that just went through a major merger will have a smaller presence on the floor including bringing talent....

I doubt we’ll b able to tell the difference. Think they posted about attendance records one year of 14 or 15 was 180k and since then it’s been 130-140k. Only time seems can tell is preview night of some years seems more crowded than other years and same for Sundays floor

I feel that its not because of the badge holder but alot of guess are not coming. There would of been alot of refuns for badges and we would of saw a badge sale early this year

Has anyone changed their reservation yet?  I'm just wondering if you change hotels, whether they make you pay the non-refundable booking fee again, or only the difference if the new hotel is more expensive?

I would like to know the answer to this too. I have a room but I have friends that are further out. Based on reading of the room rates terms and conditions the text it makes it sound like one could switch hotels without losing their deposit, but in practice it doesn't seem like that. Is this something that you may have to call in? Would make it kind of difficult especially if the room is in high demand. Not sure if this is something I would want to go back to fix after the fact.

Ya more rooms will open up as peoples plans change last minute. I called a couple of the hotels directly, the clerks talked with both said same thing that they’ll be releasing rooms randomly to the block as gets closer to convention

For an hour. Then its scooped up. Not for multiple days in a row.

Sorry quoted the wrong post here. Was responding to someone who was saying hotels were this available in years prior.

It looks like a 'new' hotel was added to the on peak selections

Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton

It's not on the shuttle route, but according to the map, it looks like it's close to Best Western Plus Bayside Inn, which is on the route.

It's a nice hotel in Little Italy...only has valet parking & it's $56/day. Nice view of the bay if you get the rooms that face that way.

Downtown room for 4
« Reply #868 on: June 26, 2022, 10:30:04 AM »
I have a Studio Suite at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites for 7/17-24 that I'm trying to rent.  If I don't get some interest soon I'll have to turn it over to them to rent for me.  I've done that in the past.  They charge more than twice as much as I'm asking, but after fees and their cut I get about same or slightly less than renting it myself.

Is anyone interested in a Gaslamp district room that sleeps 4 for $1500 (all in cost, no resort fees or taxes added) for the full week of Comic Con?  The room has a partial kitchen, free wifi, and free breakfast every day.

Crazy how many great rooms have been coming up.  I can't imagine me being willing to roll the dice and hope I could snag something this late......
