Learn about techniques for creating your costumes from these experts: Andy Holt, known for his Hawkman cosplay and who has built six different sets of articulated wings; Sam Girgis (BiggerBoxModels), who designs ideas using CAD systems and has a unique focus on the new 3D printing environment; cosplayer Julia Jenkins, an avid seamstress and builder, also experienced in 3D printing; cosplayer Anna Yeutter a skilled seamstress and builder whose latest cosplay is a version of Hawkwoman with articulating wings; and Don Wistos, who works as director of prop fabrications/mold making for productions/strategic operations and runs a full-time prop production shop.

Hip-Hop and comics share common inspirations and exist in constant communication with each other: Rappers and graffiti artists utilize fantastic imagery; DJs and producers create universes out of sound; comic creators and animators incorporate Hip-Hop's musical and visual vocabularies. Both forms reconfigure and remix elements, blend styles and genres, and inspire passionate fanbases. Moderator Patrick A. Hot off the heels of the first movie adaptation of a Keenspot comic (and the first major motion picture based on any North American webcomic), Marry Me starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson (#1 at the box office on Valentine's Day and the most-streamed day-and-date release ever for Peacock), the pioneering comics publisher returns for its 22nd annual Comic-Con panel. And this time they're getting educational, as host Rob "Potsy" Potchak (The Mango Lorian, Junior High Horrors) and panelists John Joseco (Hunters of Salamanstra), Erik Klaus (Ninjas & Robots), Michael Adams (Kung Fu Legume), Mario Wytch (Sister Powers), Billy Parker (The D Ward), Robert C. Tracy (The Superior AOC), and Constantin Werner (One Night in Prague, George R. R. Martin'sIn The Lost Lands) break down their comics creation process and tell the story of how they got published by Keenspot (and how maybe you can too!). Tyler Houston (comics and culture expert), Kelley Boston (epidemiologist), Bobbiejean Garcia (epidemiologist), and Monti Pal (trauma therapist) discuss health-care heroes and villains. They will look at the portrayal of health care, health-care workers, and health-care facilities in comics and popular media, with a focus on mental health and psychiatric care. They will discuss professional and not-so-professional behaviors by characters and the impact that these portrayals have on our views of health care. What would you do if you found out your health-care provider had a side hustle in biohacking? Or if it was uncovered that your town's major hospital was creating zombies? The panelists will be discussing these questions and more.

Comedian Joy Lin (author of TED-Ed's If Superpowers Were Real animated series and eight science comic books) and friends will break down the scientific logistics behind classic monsters, such as how moonlight should still hurt vampires because it is essentially reflected sunlight and how buoyancy may be the reason why the giant Game of Thrones dragons can fly like hot air balloons.

San Diego Comic-Con is proud to once again host the Comic Creator Connection, a fast-paced networking event that puts writers and artists together to help them meet potential new creative partners. Here's how it works: Writers and artists will sit down across from each other at a table (artists meaning pencillers, inkers, colorists, etc.—all are welcome!). Then, in 5-minute sessions, you will talk one-on-one with each other about your ideas and skills. At the end of each 5-minute period, you will get up and move on to the next person. If you're interested in furthering the conversation, you can exchange contact information. If not, then politely move on. Think of it as speed-dating, but for writers and artists! Pre-registration is preferred (see web page You are not allowed to view links. The Hollyweird Science series of books were conceived with several goals in mind. In addition to exploring the science and scientists depicted in television and film, another goal was to explore the intricacies of Hollywood storytelling to help scientists and scienceophiles understand how science makes its way into various productions, and why it's not always perfect. A panelists of educators and Hollywood storytellers will share their views and experience on the need for narrative when sharing science. Rather than exploring science in Hollywood, they’ll explore putting some Hollywood into science.
