So, ok, WalkerFest.  Is that going to be like a tiny mini Walking Dead con with paid photo/signature ops?  The $30 is for admission and then, more fees on that with just the panel being included in cost of admission.  Sorry if this is obvious info, for some reason, it's hurting my brain to try and figure it out.  Also, any benefit to having tickets for both days?  I wish there was more information about what exactly will be going on at this little event. Thank you, in advance, for any info!
My assumption is you are correct.
An entrance fee.
Each guest will have an additional charge for autographs and photo ops.
Panels and vendor area free
Ancillary items extra - dale's RV, zombie hunt, etc.
Prices are different for each guest.
They have various VIP levels and they jump ahead of the lines.

The one in Dallas was good.
It brought in a lot of people that don't go to conventions and are not geeky/nerdy.
Walking dead and game of thrones and true blood are pop culture and not niche.

I expect the SDCC walker to be packed.

Thanks, I might go ahead and get tickets.  It's just so hard to decide where to put the money without any schedules out for anything.  Especially since money is tight this year.  Thank you, again!

I know what you mean about spending money without a schedule.

A better angle might be to express these concerns at the Talkback panel.

Or do both.  I sent my suggestion right when the hotel stuff was getting negative press.  They have it in writing.  Maybe I'll do the same at the Talkback.

So has anyone noticed that they are using TicketLeap (the 'frog company') to sell their tickets? The ticket seller that was killed by SDCC attendees has risen up again in a lesser, zombie-like form, to sell Walker Stalker and Walking Dead Escape tickets...  >:D

Sorry, this just tickled my bizarre sense of humor...

So is this like their "walk of shame"? supporting a lesser con that won't break them

That's certainly a good way to look at it. ;)

But I was more thinking that  they had 'come back from the dead' to sell Walking Dead tickets...

I am happy they announced some guests - especially this early. Made my purchase feel a little more justified now but I still have some concerns that if I attend the Talkback session I will bring up.

I'm torn about this - I'm a big Walking Dead fan, and I've always wanted to go to a Walker Stalker con, but I'm really only interested in panels and maybe merch, so not sure yet if it's for me.  The cost seems steep for a mini-con.  On the other hand, I will be in San Diego during that time span.  ;)

I feel the same way. If it weren't during SDCC, I'd be all over this. I don't buy autographs or photo ops, but I'd love to go to the panels. And when you add the cost on to the fact that I already purchased a (hard to obtain) badge for SDCC... I feel guilty about this, but I just feel like there will be plenty to occupy my time besides this mini-con.

Same here.  Not sure what kind or even how many panels they'll have.  Maybe we need to ask someone who's been to WSC, but it seems to be mainly an autograph/photo show, and if it's mini-size, that'll be probably even more true.

Decent guests announced so far.
I met Larry Gillard Jr last year in London. Really lovely guy, we chatted about The Wire for ages. His whole family was with him.

Walker stalker is pretty good about listing their schedules on the site before the show. Take a look at the site for their next show.
For Dallas, they listed the schedule about a week before.
In Dallas they had constant panels. There might have been some gaps during the day but it seemed they had something going on all day.
panels are background noise to me and I didn't pay attention.
What they don't list on the site is prices for autographs or photo ops .

This thread mentioned 'mini-con' a couple of times. Are they billing themselves that way?
What they did in Dallas was not a mini con.
Granted, it's not SDCC in size but it wasn't 2 or 3 guests and a couple of vendors.

I think Dallas had 30 guests from the show.

Every guest I got an autograph from was very nice. No one rushed. They all seemed to enjoy being there. It was very enjoyable for the fans.
The only negatives I heard was the prices. Walker stalker brought in a lot of people that don't go to conventions. Those people were expecting free autos or less expensive one. And I heard some comments about not enough vendors.

Hope that helps.

I ended up giving in and buying a ticket for Walker Stalker on Saturday since I don't have an SDCC badge, anyway. Since it's only a portion of the day, hopefully I will be able to schedule around it if anything else I want to see offsite comes up. Always have to keep my options open!  :D
