According to CCI's newly released list of WonderCon Anaheim exhibitors, Marvel is not listed anywhere:
http://www.comic-con.org/wca/2013/exhibitors
Looking at the 2013 exhibit hall map for WonderCon that CCI published recently, I don't see Marvel anywhere:
http://issuu.com/comic-con/docs/wca2013_exhibithallmap_200?mode=window&viewMode=singlePage
What the H is going on here?! Is it possible Marvel is not exhibiting at WonderCon at all?!?!
or am I just missing them? I tried the search for Marvel and turned up no one of that name. Someone please tell me I'm missing Marvel and point me in the right direction. Otherwise, I (and my son) are going to be woefully disappointed that one of ('THE') largest comic companies is not participating in a fairly large comic convention :-\
-
Hmm, is this the complete list? Will they be adding more later?

I'm guessing not. They have a map of the exhibit floor and all of the large booths are labeled.
-
I asked Agent M on Twitter (Marvel guy). I'll let you know what he says.
Agent M (Ryan) just confirmed no Marvel booth. :(
-
Well, this is more than slightly disappointing :'(.

no explanation i assume?

I followed that up with the question Will Marvel have any presence at #WonderCon? Def. a bummer if Marvel sits it out entirely
And Agent M replied, We will not be at #WonderCon. Sorry!
Wow...
FWIW Agent M is Ryan Penagos, Executive Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media Group and Marvel.com I would imagine he would know if Marvel was going to WonderCon and this is pretty definitive. I didn't ask why, but DAMN this is disappointing...
-
I didn't ask why either. I don't they'd give an answer. I wonder now if that means bigger things for C2E2.
I probably should've noticed sooner since I never saw Ryan or any other Marvel people tweet about WonderCon. They've been talking about SDCC and C2E2 though.
-
yeah, i agree we'll most likely never know
<grumble>it's gotta have something to do with D23&the mouse<grumble>
^^completely unsubstantiated
-
I don't think it has anything to do with D23 since they'll be at C2E2 in April. If they were skipping all the conventions, I'd think something was up.
I do find it odd though.
-
it seems as tho the proximity to Anaheim might be the difference between WC & C2E2.
But like i said, wild speculation on my part with *no* basis in reality aside from the fact that in 2011 Marvel didn't have a panel for the Avengers movie (eta) due to D23. <yeah i hold on to a grudge for a long time>
somebody made a decision somewhere for some seemingly logical business reason, this didn't just happen
-
I wonder how many people are pissed about this. I'm sure Marvel is one reason why people attend certain Cons. You just kind of "assume" they'll be there.
-
I find this very disappointing. I love Marvel and was really looking foward to their presence here. Also bummed that Image won't be there. I guess I'll just have to spend extra time at the IDW booth.
-
No reason to pull the comics presence from Wondercon due to D23 though. With the time in between they would be promoting entirely different storylines. SMH ???
-
Maybe Marvel is disappointed in Comic Con and WonderCon partnering up with DC for their t-shirt ;)

DC is a sponsor. Dun, dun, dun...plot thickens.
-
They are premiering the new superman and having the Lego Batman panel. I think it's a con-spiracy.

Wait what?!?!?!?

More likely DC is taking advantage of Marvel's absence to cement themselves as an anchor of WonderCon.

Wait what?!?!?!?
Superman: Unbound, an animated film.

Oh. Thought it was the movie.
Kinda okay w/ no Marvel presence - more time for everything else and at least there won't be a massive line around the booth. Plenty of other things to look at...
-
Sorry my bad, yes superman unbound. But that's a funny rumor to start.

And who would that have been: a Disney executive. Disney. D23! **DUH DUH DUUUUUHH (sung in conspiratorial way)**
:P :P

*raises hand*
I'm pretty pissed. I don't care as much about the Marvel movie stuff, but I don't think it's crazy to assume that Marvel would attend WonderCon (they were there last year). Oh well; I guess I'll just spend more time/money rekindling my love of DC >:D
-
At least there will be lots of booths selling Marvel comics.

Since 2011, the year of no Avengers panel, everything is the mouses fault

I'll just have to visit the huge Marvel presence at the theme parks down the block... ;)
-
See *that* what I'm saying <jumping up & down, pointing>
face it, i am not rational abt marvel not showing up for a con *even* if I'm not attending the con.

There is actually VERY little Marvel presence at Disneyland. There are a few items for sale in some of the shops (notably The Disney store in Downtown Disney and the pretty awesome D-Street)

Just wait a few years. There will be a BIG Marvel presence in Tomorrowland :)
-
Since my first con in 2000 DC has always had a bigger presence than Marvel. Bigger booth, t-shirt, program cover. DC had an advantage being part of Time-Warner. The comic book part of CCI has been shrinking the pass few years.
-
Marvel has the same presence at the parks as does Star Wars. Granted you do have Star Tours, but you can but Marvel Toys in the shops. In D Street you have more of a selection, then you do at World of Disney or the emporium.
