I always thought this event was always for the privileged...Funko Fanatic Forum Members or People with Fiber optics internet.
Never bother trying really.

Please allow me to debunk that myth.  I am neither a Funatic forum power-user, nor have a fiber connection.

I was just very diligent last year in monitoring Twitter.  The TUMBLEBEE password requirement very nearly got me, but I recovered in time to get tickets.

This is not true.  Anyone can be a Funko Funatic member, it's a group of people like this community that has come together.  I have met so many amazing people on the forum.  A lot overlap with this forum.  No privileged needed, just a love of the product and the community!

My understanding is you need to be a member for a certain length of time  and a large number of post in the their forum.
Is that not true?

It is, but a year and 100 posts can pretty much be done in your sleep.  It's not that the people are privileged, it's that they want to be there.

But like any other forum you really only benefit from being around and participating.  That is true of this forum.  Anyone can join and read the information but your life is enriched by sticking around and talking to people.  The more you get to know people the more they want to help you out and vice versa.

As for the first come first serve public sale that is just how anything for con is.  You have to be fast or it sells out.

what she said lol.

what does draw on the nerves though is people joining there (or maybe here) almost purely to get perks and not being veiled about it at all.  but that is a 2 hour power point presentation i can give at another time.  entitlement in situation in life bothers me.

To be fair, the year and 100 posts is just the basic requirement.

Last year people with less than ~500 posts didn't get offered a ticket sadly. (me included)  :'(

My friend had under 400 and got tickets.  But yes I think they then take an average of all posts to determine who will get tickets.  This makes sense because they are looking for those who are active on the forum and not someone who created an account to just get tickets every year.  100% not saying that is what you did, but we both know a lot did.  I do realize that their method will still exclude some, unfortunately, that can't be prevented.  It is a fair way to distribute the tickets though.

The minimum post count has varied from year to year. I’ve seen 100 and 500...one year it was 500 at first and then they did not get as many people to sign up as they thought, so they lowered it. As NCDS said, there has also been a minimum time...sometimes one, sometimes two years. I have also seen them make exceptions but those are usually people they are already friendly with, not people who join at the last minute in the hopes of making the cut.

Their minimum requirements are not any more of a sign of privilege than, say, the FoCC minimum requirements to join the hotel exchange, in my opinion.

Absolutely, I only had ~300 posts, I wasn't saying I was at 500. Just that the 100 is a very very bare minimum to even enter.

Last year they tweeted the link and a password, it was sold out in basically 20s.

So, new guy here trying to get in, what should I do? for this year try the 20 second general sale and join the forum, get 500 posts to get a chance to get direct tickets for next year?

Well your only option this year is general sale.  And 2020 as well.  If it is like previous years you would need to have registered for an account this year in 2019 before May 1st.  Because no matter how many posts you plan to make you will still not have a star by May 2020.

So if you go by this year and previous year's criteria you won't be eligible until 2021.  And that is just to be eligible for the lottery.  Just because you meet criteria to enter does not mean you will get tickets either.

Like I mentioned before jump through hoops or compete with resellers.

Also keep in mind there still exists the possibility of a lottery for the Fundays general sale, as well.

I will be very eager to see the official updates from Funko this week.  We’ll find out one way or the other.
