being active helps for sure, but nothing is guaranteed till you actually get an email. also they only started doing funatic presale in 2017. 2016 was my 1st year going to fundays and i got lucky during the public sale and got 2 tickets. also in 2016 i just started collecting and hadn't heard of the funatic forums till someone on FOCC mentioned it that year.

Like I mentioned before jump through hoops or compete with resellers.

I am not sure if I understand your definition of jumping through hoops.  Funko is the most fan-friendly and engaging toy company I have ever seen.  They are trying to give priority to those that they consider their most die-hard fans who also contribute to their fan community.  Being on their official forum for one year and having 100 posts is not really outrageous and hardly a hoop but maybe we have different definitions or expectations.

I just base  my two cents on availability and comparing them to Lego. I believe they still base their business model on artificial availability and hype. Again that is just my opinion.

Sounds like the funatic community isn't the place for you and that's fine.  Just remember to be respectful of those who have found it to be a great place to be.  If we were all into all the same things life would probably always just be overcrowded and exhausting. Dare I say even boring.

Just like I say this is one man's opinion...and also trying to get first timers to understand that it is not that easy to get into this event and plan accordingly.

Respectfully I would like to comment on this if you don't mind.

1)  not sure what you mean about artificial availability.  i find the funko website similar to the "requirements" here declared or not in terms of sdcc hotel sharing.  its not the perfect way of addressing people who come here or there only when sdcc hotels or fundays comes around.  but it's better than nothing.

2)  what business model are you referring to ?  in my opinion (and yeah it's just mine).  if funko wanted to have a "better" business model aimed at attracting new customers they wouldn't do it this way.  for a lot of us we feel like they are trying to take care of their core fan base and it is more than appreciated by most of us.  the problem comes down to entitlement over there, and here to be honest.

oh i have been here for x number of years with x number of posts.  i "deserve" something.  if anything it's this population of people that would make me want to stop doing it.  because it's something (here and there) they do to try to take care of people who contribute to the community and then they get crapped on.  i really see a lot of similarities between the fundays situation over there and the hotel help situation on this forum.

I don't think I will get chosen, I only have a little over 300 posts, but I would have felt like the dumbest person in the world if I missed it.

Last year, the Funatic pre-sale closed on Mon 5/7 and the general sale was on Tues 5/22.

If the same timeline holds true this year, we are looking at a general sale date of two weeks from tomorrow -- Tues 5/21.

Tentatively mark your calendars, people :)

I will say that the post had 5/7 instead of 5/6 (today), which was updated sometime during the weekend. I even have proof it was 5/7. Oh well...

I will say this: email confirmation is a must for next year after submitting.

Good Points.. Comparing the way Lego of do things. Lego seems more accessible and friendly. It's gear toward new fans and also target young fans. But then I see Funko as more of a Collectible Company(like a baseball card company) then a Toy Company.  Yea maybe I am just comparing apples to oranges...

Thanks for the bumps here!  I hadn't been on Funko all weekend!  Hope I make the cut this year.  Didn't last year, but went the two years before and had a blast.
