Sorry to inform you they did.  It occurs during our close, they told me I can no longer go to cons during close anymore.

If you mean bring the flask to work and yell that, well problem solved!  Cause I won't have that job no more!

It's gonna be difficult to convince the wife to let me do this two years in a row...
This was an extremely expensive trip.
Could cut costs by doing it without the kid...
Any of you guys do NYCC solo?
How is the experience?

i do it solo but know a lot of people.  IK, not to the point of your question but it actually is to the point if you think about it.  reach out to other members, do the meet ups, etc

I actually spend majority of the day on my own, however, knowing people saved me a lot and they came through when I needed them.  Hopefully they will say the same of me.

north jersey has far cheaper hotels. nearby trains into the city.

if you were using a hotel only 15 minutes walk away from the javits, it will be a big difference.

I stayed in Jersey this year... The travel time getting to/from was probable the worst part of my trip. Definitely want to stay within the city next time. Maybe an AirBNB...

Try staying in Jersey to save money. That's where we stay and we take the Ferry over. It stops right behind the Javits and is a quick walk.

It really depends where you are staying in Jersey, but yeah generally stay in NJ and save a few dollars.

yup the fast ferry is very good and lets you off right behind javits, only 2 issues I have is if you are a night owl it stops fairly early and second it depends where you want to go, if for example on Sat. you intended to sit in MSG all day then you are better off taking the path to 33rd from the Hoboken Train Terminal as it lets off right by MSG

Staying in Jersey limited my ability to get in line early.
The earliest bus into the city picked up at 5:45am, which got me to Javitz between 6:30-7:00am, after the walk from Port Authority.
This would have put us way back in line if we didn't meet people that allowed us to get in line with them.
...Felt a bit guilty that I couldn't do my part to help with the line-holding.

Issue with the Fast Ferry is the earliest is 6:10 on a weekday and 9 on the weekend. Though it is only a 7 minute ferry ride and then you are right behind the Javits.

The Path I think runs all night long but is less convienent to get to in Hoboken

If you're going solo (or at least without the kids) and want to stay closer, I'm sure you could find someone on the boards here to split a room with.

I saw someone quote $50 a night for a bed in an AirBNB. That sounds perfect!

They're asking on Facebook which day of the week people prefer tickets go on sale:

https://www.facebook.com/events/633974340060605/permalink/633976110060428/

Currently the most votes are Sunday (1511), Saturday (1360), and Friday (847).

I selfishly hope for tickets to go on sale at the most inconvenient day/time possible…
That way, only people who are truly committed will have the best likelihood of getting tickets.
Last year, ticked went on sale on a weekday (I think it was a Tuesday at 10am, or something crazy like that). I had to take time off from work and sit for a couple of hours with my fingers crossed…
Possible reason I was successful may be because of fewer competitors…

Has badge sales for NYCC ever been on a weekend? I know the demand for badges has grown in the last handful of years, so maybe at the beginning it didn't matter as much.

I looked up the sales dates:
2016: Wednesday
2015: Wednesday
2014: Thursday
2013: Wednesday
2012: Tuesday
2011: Monday

I can't quickly find any dates before that but back then, tickets remained available for days so, as you say, it probably didn't matter as much which day sales began.

We better be careful what we wish for... Tickets could go on sale during SDCC!
Didn't they go on sale the week before SDCC last year?

The Path I think runs all night long but is less convienent to get to in Hoboken

Take the PATH from Hoboken to 33rd Street.

Exit PATH, take any uptown train one stop to 42nd Street.  (separate fare)

The N, Q, R and W trains run along Broadway and will let you out at Times Square.  The B, D, F and M trains run along 6th Avenue and let you out at 42nd Street/Bryant Park, a block east of Times Square.

Whichever station you get out at, transfer (free) to a Hudson Yards-bound #7 train.  If you take the B, D, F or M train, you'll be transferring to the 5th Avenue stop on the #7 line, which is one stop before Times Square, but it does not add a significant amount of travel time, I'll guess three minutes at most.

Exit the subway (recommended but not obligatory: take the inclined elevator, not the escalator.  It adds an "amusement park ride" experience to the trip.)

You're now on 34th Street, about ½ block from Javits Center.

Unfortunately, not everyone who wants to can take time off from work to buy tickets.  Also, not everybody has Internet access at work, and many companies who do provide it have strict regulations about non-work-related use.

If being "truly committed" means willing to risk getting fired in order to buy tickets, I don't think many people here would qualify.

2011 was the first year tickets sold out, but early on you could still walk up to the box office and buy tickets.  Here's the Javits Center marquee as photographed on 10/14/11 (Day 2)...

but by the last day (10/16/11), all tickets were sold out.

We stayed at Yotel last year and we enjoyed the experience.  It was a pretty interesting set up (you use kiosks to check in, the room setup is strange) and the walk to Javits was only a few minutes.  It was also one of the cheaper "official" hotels, I think it was $300 a night through NYCC.

I have also stayed at the Courtyard near Penn and the New Yorker.  They are both fine hotels as well.  They are standard small NYC hotel rooms and the walk to Javits isn't that bad.

I'm thinking of going this year, first time.

Is there a guide, or can someone help with a rough idea of getting tickets, as in when? heard things last year about pre-registration to be able to be eligible to buy tickets? I was only half paying attention back then.

Also, with the panels, are they free to get into? I'd love to get into some Marvel ones, but know they will be popular.

In more recent years, tickets have gone sale sometime between May and July. Last year they started "Fan Verification", which you fill out form with some questions, to verify that you are fan really interested in attending NYCC, before buying tickets. All panels are usually free to attend for day(s) the ticket you purchased. Yes, Marvel panels are usually some of most popular panels.

we'll be ramping up for NYCC - the tix sales have been intense but not as crazy as sdcc, yet.  we have run buying groups in the past to help secure tix. It might be a good idea to join one.

I highly recommend it! NYCC has come a really long way the past few years. I first in 2010, and wow what a difference! That first year I only went on Saturday and you could just easily walk around. Now it's super packed! It'll never rival SDCC when it comes to celebrities, movie panels, or exclusives, but NYCC has really come into its own.

I really wish I got into comics (or at least afford them) back before NYCC got so big. Not into the movie/celeb panels, just the comicbook-related stuff.

It's getting harder and harder to get tickets this year and I'm hoping I can finally bring cousins or my wife

Out of the 3 years we've fattened NYCC, we never use the hotels the con offered as they are super expensive even for a discount rate. We usually downtown, one yeah we stayed near Tribeca and another year we were near Washington Square Park. We just took the subway or took a cab if running late or tired. Last year only went for one day and spent it all day inside MSG for panels. This year we are doing the weekend again and will look for hotels in the same area again. Also it's less crowded and cheaper to eat if not near the normal tourist areas.

IN my opinion it's a no.  We all had random numbers in the queue regardless of when we got on.  Think of it more like SDCC hotel.  I think it might even be the same system.

They say first come, first serve though.  Just be ready to activate your link the second the clock hits

I should have said you get a unique link.  So don't share it.

Quote
Welcome to the Virtual Queue

Remember there’s a limited time frame to complete your purchase so make sure you have your credit card and your friends’ and family’s Fan Verified emails handy to assign their tickets! You can ONLY purchase and assign for someone who was also Fan Verified in 2016.

You are now in the NYCC 2017 virtual queue to buy your tickets. No need to refresh this page — it will update automatically when it’s your turn.

To make the NYCC 2017 on sale as fair as possible, we will allow people access to our site first-come, first-served. When you land on the ticketing page, you can check ticket availability, choose your quantity and start finalizing your purchase.

This is important so here it is again. There’s a limited time frame to complete your purchase so have your credit card and your squad’s Fan Verified emails handy.

Your purchase will only be final when you have fully completed payment and received a confirmation email.

What else do I need to know about NYCC 2017 tickets?

  • There is a limit of four (4) tickets per NYCC ticket type. You cannot purchase more than sixteen (16) tickets total per order.
  • NYCC 2017 tickets will only be sold online through NYCC. They will not be on sale at retailers or any events leading up to NYCC 2017. Tickets cannot be purchased over the phone.
  • NYCC tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable, non-upgradeable and non-resellable.
  • Sunday Kids tickets are only valid on Sunday, October 8 for kids ages 6-12.

Do I really have to individually assign each ticket I purchase to someone who is Fan Verified?

Absolutely. We’ve added additional time for you to complete your purchase, but in order for us to have a presale for fans that created Fan Verification accounts for NYCC 2016 we must have their email addresses at time of purchase.

If you haven’t yet noticed, this is really, really important. There’s a limited time frame to complete your purchase so have every Fan Verified email ready to go during checkout for yourself and those you’re buying tickets for.

Since kids 6-12 don’t need to fill out a Fan Verification profile, how do I assign their ticket(s)?

You may assign a kid to a ticket you are purchasing by clicking the checkbox under the email field.

Any NYCC tickets assigned to kids will only be valid for kids ages 6-12 at the time of NYCC. This will be noted in their NYCC badge as the kid taps in and out of NYCC.

If a NYCC badge assigned to a kid is used for anyone over the age of 12 at the time of NYCC, the wearer will be removed from NYCC without a refund and the wearer and buyer will be unable to purchase tickets to any future NYCC or ReedPOP events. Be prepared to show proof of age onsite.

Kids ages 5 years old and younger do not need a ticket and get into NYCC for free.

PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to refresh this page. It will update automatically as you are admitted to the checkout. Activity that is deemed malicious or excessive could result in you being banned from our servers.

Does anyone have any surplus of Saturday badges?

I'd still like to buy one.

Unfortunately, I made it to the sale too late due to work.

But if anyone has an extra Saturday badge, I'd be willing to buy from them.

it's hard to make the comparison.  we expect there are a lot more people trying for SDCC then nycc. Plus SDCC randomized to minimize the hit to the servers, where as nycc does not.

the question is: ONCE a person is in the buying window, was the nycc process easier then sdcc or the same.
personally i think sdcc is easier - no white screens/404 and they give in thread(/) warning that the email/mem id has been used without kicking u to the beginning.

Came sooo close to getting some tickets this year, but just 2 days ago the family decided they want to go to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta which is the same days :(

Sounds like the glitches were manageable but could have been more problematic if the demand was at SDCC levels. The having to start over thing does sound like a design flaw that didn't come up in time to fix, but it did seem like they called attention to it with enough time for the information to circulate.

exactly, and they had said they might be able to do a fix for 2018. It honestly seems as tho it was something that wasn't thought about till it was to late.

it will be interesting to see what happens in the gen sale. when they have a lot of folks who just fan verified and aren't as use to the system.

We'll get you to NYCC in 2018!

Actually, it's not.  Last one there was only one sale, general sale, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday badges didn't sell out that day.  Friday and Sunday sold out the next day, and Thursday I think was even still available in September.

Which Thursday is unknown.

I stayed in Jersey this year... The travel time getting to/from was probable the worst part of my trip. Definitely want to stay within the city next time. Maybe an AirBNB...

there's no fun part about the travel time to/from Javits unfortunately even if you're in the city - coming from the 7 train is probably the easiest so anything off the 7 train

Fan Verification re-opens next week (6/12)

Fan Verification for the ability to purchase NYCC 2017 tickets or have tickets purchased for you or to purchase tickets for other people (you get the gist) will reopen for new fans to have access to the remaining tickets from our presale and general on-sale earlier this year.

Once you fill out a Fan Verification, you'll receive a confirmation email with your unique link to purchase tickets. You'll immediately be able to click that link and buy the tickets that are available OR if you wanted someone to buy tickets for you, you'll now have a profile and they can assign you to a ticket in the order they're placing.

Our team will be sweeping the list periodically and cancelling orders and profiles for anyone who is a known scalper or reseller.

I definitely recommend doing this. A few of my friends got will call tickets at the last minute and there was a line around the block to get to will call. We waited for hours to get in. It was so bad that the organizers came out with a box of badges and gave them to everyone that gave them a printed out receipt for a Thursday ticket.

We are beyond honored to begin hosting The Harvey Awards and continue our celebration of the comic industry. http://bit.ly/2vt4cjY

Quote
The Harvey Awards are one of the comic industries most prestigious events, and in 2018 the celebrated event will get a new home.

The Harvey Awards derives its name from iconic cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman, and ReedPOP will host the event in Kurtzman's hometown at New York Comic Con this year. The award ceremony is being replaced with a reception for 2017 but will return in full form next year at New York Comic Con 2018.

The event will honor Kurtzman's long career as well as the talented creators and professionals in the industry. The reception will be held at the Hudson Annex 38 on Saturday, October 7th from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm ET.

"We are thrilled to host such an iconic award show during one of the biggest comic events of the year, New York Comic Con," said Lance Fensterman, Global Head of ReedPOP. "We are even more excited to honor the life and work of the late great Harvey Kurtzman here in his hometown while celebrating the industry's best work."

The Harvey Awards are approaching their 30-year anniversary, which takes place next year, and awards artists, writers, letterers, editors, and designers for their achievements. Kurtzman is known for a variety of projects, including the creation of MAD.

"My mother, my family, and I are excited and very honored to have the Harvey Awards associated with New York Comic Con. NYCC has grown exponentially over the past decade, and ReedPOP brings with them a team that is experienced in running successful events," said Nellie Kurtzman, daughter of Harvey Kurtzman. "With my father being a lifelong New Yorker, it is only fitting that the awards return to the city where he worked, and the comic book industry was born. In 2018, we all look forward to the reboot of the awards and having the Harveys in the setting of the largest comic book convention in North America."

New York Comic Con will feature a variety of guests this year, including Kevin Conroy, Lena Headey, Mark Hamill, Jess Harnell, Jim Cummings, Michael Rooker, Nolan North, Sean Gunn, Rob Paulsen, Pablo Schreiber, Ricky Whittle, Ryan Hurst, Tara Strong, Theo Rossi, Tress MacNeille, Troy Baker, Vic Mignogna, William Shatner, Yetide Badaki, and more.

New York Comic Con 2017 takes place October 5th to the 8th.

edit: some questions and responses
Quote

Funko

Funko stated on their blog that they will not allow lining up at their booths before the time slots for their giveaways. They also said this last year and were unable to prevent it. What steps are being taken to better organize the line for Funko this year?

Response

We're always in very close contact with the folks at Funko and they were the first exhibitor to let us guinea pig the pre-show lottery on them. We do whatever we can to 'shoo' people away before those times.

[—]jvdrummer182 1 point 9 hours ago

Previous years, the NYCC team organized a line downstairs in the queue hall. Will this "pre-line" also be done this year?

Response

There won't be a Funko line downstairs. That's only the main stage and entry to the show floor.

passes

With construction going on till 2021. Are there any plans on bringing back 4 and 3 day passes before then?

Response

No, I don't think we'll be seeing 3 or 4 day passes back.

Because of the construction we had to lessen the amount of people who could be in the show per day and we wanted to give everyone a shot at getting tickets for a day that they wanted.

future

What can fans expect in the future for NYCC?

Response

More venues, more content verticals, better content, more fun, more blisters.

I love everything except for that last little section. Regardless, can't wait to see what's to come! See you on the 7th! :)

events

Hi, Mike. Noticed a number of great panels require an additional fee to attend this year. I know what you've said in the past is that this allows more people to attend NYCC-sanctioned events beyond those with badges, but it makes it tough for those who already paid for badges--especially now that the multi-day badges are gone--to justify paying (often times, a lot) to see this additional content. Can these events simply be wrapped into the regular programming moving forward?

Response

Great question, thanks.

We try to offset any separately paid event with some sort of presence at Javits so that even if you can't swing the separately paid tickets, you can still see them at the show. It doesn't always happen due to scheduling but we're trying!

streaming

Are you planning to live stream the panels?

Response

Yes, select theaters will be streamed. We'll also have our live stage on the main show floor and we'll be streaming content from there all weekend.

transportation

Can there be more free transportation to and from Javitz / MSG? It is quite far of a walk and hard to make it back and forth to things in a timely manner unless you pay for a cab.

Response

We had shuttles last year but we had the lowest ridership that we've ever had. With the addition of the subway stop they aren't used much anymore by people coming from hotels.

We'll look back into shuttles in the future as the show gets even more spread out.

9. Activate Your Badge and Tap it Around the Show

Activate your badge: Before you get to the show you will want to activate your NYCC badge so that it uniquely identifies you. Badge Activation is required. Badge Activation is there to protect you so that if you lose your badge, or it gets stolen by a villain, we can replace it for you. (Although, we do charge for replacement badges so we recommend that you hold onto yours as tightly as possible.)

Tap your badge to save your place for Main Stage panels: This year, half of the seats in the Main Stage presented by AT&T were available through a pre-show lottery so that fans were able to know before they got onsite if they could get into panels they wanted to see. For the other half of the seats, you'll be required to tap your badge in the morning in the Queue Hall in 1C to reserve your spot. That panel will be coded into your badge and when you arrive back in the Queue Hall prior to that panel, you will tap your badge again for entry. Our super smart system will know that your spot is reserved.

Have your best NYCC ever with NYCC XP: NYCC XP presented by DIRECTV NOW is a brand new addition to 2017 to help create a better experience for you, the fans! Activating NYCC XP will help you collect cool content from our exhibitors and partners, share your favorite NYCC experiences on social media and win awesome prizes. It’s the key to making this your best and most memorable New York Comic Con yet.

Title: Off to New York.
Post by: Andrew Costa Mesa on October 02, 2017, 11:09:54 AM
At 12:30PT, my JetBlue Flight 514 leaves Long Beach to arrive at JFK tonight at 9pm ET.  While I am in New York, I will be at New York Comic Con, where hopefully I'll have photo ops with Felicity Jones ("Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") and Billie Piper ("Dr. Who") as well as get together with my San Diego Comic Con friends, as well as old friends I haven't seen in years.  Plus on Tuesday afternoon I will attend a taping of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and next Tuesday morning a taping of the ABC prime-time game show "Match Game" with Alec Baldwin.  At the same time, I'm sending plenty of positive thoughts to the victims and survivors of the victims of that horrific event in Las Vegas last night as they will be on my mind throughout my trip.  This morning I watched President Trump on TV give a very moving speech as he addressed the nation.

a taping of the ABC prime-time game show "Match Game" with Alec Baldwin.

I saw a taping last year.  It hasn't aired yet, and I wonder if it will.  You're probably aware that today's Match Game is more, uh, raunchier than the Gene Rayburn version - but in the taping I saw, a contestant gave a sexual answer that rhymes with "mum," Alec Baldwin immediately dropped to the floor, and they stopped tape for a few minutes.  To my surprise, they did not reshoot the question and have the contestant give a different answer.  (I don't remember the question, but the answer was appropriate in the context of the question.)

I don't know how familiar with going to TV tapings, but you're going to need a lot of patience.  You'll be spending a LOT of time standing on line.  And get there early - they do overbook and it's possible that you might get shut out.  That happened to me, but they offered us priority tickets for another taping later that afternoon (which I accepted), or for another date.

Believe me Gary, I know ALL about TV tapings!  I've gone to TV tapings since 1974 when I was in fourth grade!  I know that tickets exceed seat capacity.  I always get there two hours early.  And yes I'm familiar with standing in line.  Earlier today I went to see Stephen Colbert.

So Alec Baldwin's show is raunchier than Gene Rayburn's???  GOOD!  Sounds like my kind of show!  And yes I know what rhymes with "mum!"

Twice in 1977 I did attend two tapings of Gene Rayburn's show when I was visiting L.A. for the summer.  And yes I also saw Brett, Charles and Richard.

The TV taping I went to see in 1974 was "The $10,000 Pyramid" with Dick Clark.  I got to shake Soupy Sales hand after the show.

I just saw that there will be metal detectors this year.  :o I wonder how that's going to affect the lines.

I think they had metal detectors last year. I'm pretty sure I remember them. Not a fan really. I just feel like all it does is slow down the lines to get in. SDCC had no metal detectors or bag checks this year and everything was fine. I just think with an event where people are constantantly coming and going is pretty much a waste of time. If you do it in a way where it has any real meaning you will end up with super long lines and super long waits to get in. And if you do it the way it is usually done at these type of events which is quick and careless it's a total waste of time since it is super easy to still get anything one would want to get in.

I do not remember metal detectors last year. Huh. Of course I only came through the regular entrance one day, the other days I went through the press entrance. Maybe that's why.

I thought they had them last year but i could be remembering wrong. Sometimes i don't remember what i had for lunch so it wouldn't surprise me if i was wrong about something from a year ago.

I'm totally the same way! Like, I don't remember it but I could be wrong, I don't know.

NYCC 2017 Sells 200k Tickets, Discussing Five-Day Expansion
By Chris Arrant, Editor
October 30, 2017 09:29am ET

The 2017 New York Comic Con had 200,000 paid visitors over the course of four days earlier this month, beating out the previous year by 20,000 - and they're already planning for more with next year's from October 4 to 7, 2018.

With NYCC behind us (and ReedPOP having taken some time to recuperate), Newsarama spoke with the company's Event Director Mike Armstrong about this year's convention - which has soundly become the largest of its kind in North America.

Newsarama: Mike, how was 2017 New York Comic Con for you - professionally and personally?

Mike Armstrong: This was my eigth NYCC and it's amazing to think of how far the show has come since 2010. It wasn't that long ago that we were selling tickets on-site. Our show floor changed every year because of construction in our main hall. This year on Saturday I took a walk with our Event Manager, Kristina Rogers, and went to see Madison Square Garden and the Hammerstein. Seeing people in costume and wearing badges and making the same walk really put things into perspective. It wasn't that long ago that we could barely fill Javits and now we are really taking over the whole city.

Nrama: You’ve said elsewhere that 200,000 tickets were sold for this year’s event, but that isn't necessarily the attendance due to their only being one-day passes. Do you have any kind of judgement yet on the number of unique people who came to NYCC?

Armstrong: Sorry Chris I don't have those numbers just yet. We have always measured our attendance based on number of unique tickets sold.

Nrama: However you slice it, 200,000 tickets is up tremendously from 2016's reported 180,000 tickets. To what would you attribute that near 10% jump?

Armstrong: I think it speaks to our ability to program content for a diverse set of fans. We've also worked very hard to work with partners and sponsors to create immersive experiences on the show floor and our fan base has really responded to that.

Nrama: Talking with people who were there, and the number one issue seemed to be the continued construction at the Javits and the hope - someday - to use the entire center in a larger capacity. What do you know about the Javits construction timeline, and when NYCC might be able to do more at the center?

Armstrong: We expect to have the new Javits building in 2021. With that new space and the continued development of the Hudson Yards area, we are set up well for continued growth within the immediate Javits area.

Nrama: I'm also told of severe lines in the bathrooms, attributed by some to cosplayers using it to change rather than the cosplay room ReedPOP set aside. Can you address that situation at all?

Armstrong: We have a dedicated Cosplay changing room, but we either need to add another one or expand our current room. I love NYCC because of the incredible cosplay but we need to do a better job of accommodating them and everyone else around them.

Nrama: Next to the cosplay room this year was a Quiet Room - an excellent but possibly overlooked addition to the con. How did this go this year, and do you plan on bringing it back next year?

Armstrong: Yes, that will definitely be back. It's something that we saw at our PAX events and we thought it would be a great addition to NYCC. We already have them at Emerald City Comic Con and we will be looking to add to C2E2 and our new launch in Philadelphia, Keystone Comic Con.

Nrama: I was told the Artists Alley was exceptionally hot. Can you address that at all, and if it'll be in the same space next year?

Armstrong: Yes — the combination of a rare hot weekend in October plus the number of people experiencing Artist Alley led to some overworked A/C. We’re exploring a couple of different options for next year to make things a lot more comfortable in Artist Alley.

Nrama: Going back to tickets, this is the second year of doing fan-verification profiles. How is that working out now since it's no longer new?

Armstrong: It's definitely helped us keep down the number of professional resellers who have access to our tickets. We made some improvements to the process this year that made the fan experience much smoother.

Nrama: A common question is the decision not to do encompassing four-day passes. Any plans to revisit that decision, or things possibly being done to mitigate that - or is this just the way it is going forward?

Armstrong: I don't see us revisiting the decision in the immediate future. With the construction, we are forced to have fewer people in the building and the single day ticket structure gives more opportunity to fans to get tickets.

Nrama: This is the seventh year NYCC has been four days for the general public - has there been any talk at all of a fifth day, or a preview night like Comic-Con International: San Diego has done?

Armstrong: We're already talking about exploring new content and experiences that can be available on either Wednesday or Monday.

Nrama: I spoke with Lance the morning of the first day about security, in light of strengthened security with an outside security firm mentioning part of it was in light of the Las Vegas shooting. I know you don't normally speak too much about security, but can you talk about what goes into deciding what to do?

Armstrong: We work with local, state and national agencies to develop our security plans. We had planned on beefed up security even before the tragic events in Las Vegas. I'm really proud to work with the NYPD and the Javits security team on this event. They're both incredible partners and equally as committed to a safe and fun event as we are.

Nrama: New York Comic Con 2018 is a long way off - but what's the first step for you two in planning that?

Armstrong: We are already digging into our post show research to see what worked and what didn't. Our first step will be to make any changes we feel necessary (we already know of a few) and then start to build on that.

Nrama: Have you decided on guests, or anything at this point?

Armstrong: We've got ideas, sure, but we will spend the next few weeks reading or research, holding focus groups and talking to fans in an effort to create the event that they want. We'll be back in Columbus Day weekend as usual!
