Orville
« on: April 22, 2019, 10:58:57 PM »
I finally got around to watching last week's episode.  I really liked it.  That's what I like about the Orville.  While it is a satire for obvious reasons, they don't shy away from touching story lines.

It's an awesome show, making me laugh, but also providing some interesting ideas, and things to talk about.

I find that it has a more Star Trek feel to me than Discovery, but then, I am TNG through and through. ;)

We got lucky and were able to participate in the Orville cast signing at SDCC last year. It made my entire Con!

We actually didn't win the exclusives signing, but we showed up in our cosplay and waited for hours, and then at the end my husband talked the guy in charge into letting '2 more people in cosplay' through. So in the end, it was our persistence and our cosplay that got us into the signing.

I am hoping for a 3rd season too! It was weird that the finale wasn't a cliffhanger... it seemed like they could have done so much more with that storyline and made it a 2-parter. But I'm wondering if they were uncertain about a 3rd season and didn't want to leave fans hanging, just in case.

You did an Orville cosplay?! ...and your persistence is admirable! Do you have a pic somewhere?  I didn't see any last year or at Wondercon, although I heard there were some.  I kept looking.  Yes, I wonder, too, if that was the reason they didn't do a cliff-hanger.  Imagine Identity 1 as a cliff hanger and then...no 3rd season?  Ack!!! :o

we definitely need a few more seasons, a 3rd season would not be enough. ;)

Yes, my husband and I have matching blue 'command' uniforms. The whole cast commented on them. I'm sure that we will be wearing them at SDCC again this year! If there is an Orville panel or signing, we'll be wearing them that day.

I agree, we need many more seasons! They have demonstrated that this isn't just a parody show, and they have a lot of cool plots and ideas. And I love that they've had a few Star Trek cast members show up on the program! My favorite was Robert Picardo.
