Well, there were no non-stop options for me this year.  That was disappointing.  And when I selected my preferred options the cost was $546.  On a whim I decided to see what would happen if I stayed in San Diego for another day and depart on Tuesday.  The round trip flight dropped to $303.  I think I can use the savings to pay for one more day/night in San Diego.

Seems everyone is trying to lock in their flights for the  50th Con and leaving on the same day.  If prices are too high consider renting car and driving to a nearby airports like Ontario or Orange County for more flights at reasonable prices going home.

Booked my flight yesterday, ended up being almost $100 cheaper than last year! Really saved on the return flight, I picked one that leaves early evening but is nonstop, all of the morning/afternoon flights were all over $120 more than the evening one! This way I have time to actually eat breakfast, finalize packing, and chill instead of rushing to the airport, and save money on top of all that.

Flight booked from Philly. It was $15 dollars more than last year, but I'm fine with that as booking earlier guarantees the cheapest flight.
Now, just the hotel lottery. That last part...oh, that last part of going to SDCC!

Just booked! Holiday spending gave me some extra points in my Rapid Rewards account and I was able to burn the rest of my points for this trip. Total cost came to around $60 with Early-Bird both ways from the east coast.

This will probably be one of my last flights with SW as my "go-to" airline. I've never had any issues with them but with the new sliding scale Early Bird prices, the rates are pretty close to Delta Comfort and I think I'm going to give them a shot.

Booked my flights for SDCC with Southwest for the first time.  We recently moved from Hawaii to Texas, needless to say my airfare costs have significantly gone down.  More money to buy Captain America stuff  :D

it's odd, instead of looking for flights to the west coast for sdcc, i'm looking for flights to the east coast for Christmas....it's odd living on the west coast /resume regularly scheduled programing/

I'm glad you saved that money, because it will all go towards AC come May! I remember my acclimation from Hawaii to Texas, it was rough. Hopefully you didn't move anywhere humid (i.e., Houston).

If anyone booked Southwest, I just checked and my fare to SDCC went down, so I was able to get a credit. You might want to check your flights just in case your flight went down also!

FYI, SW is an airline known in the music world for taking zero responsibility for damaged instruments in checked baggage.  Make sure you impeccably pack your exclusives, cosplay items, etc. as the airline will not be helpful.  I base this on friends' and former students' experiences: one of which happened to a former student's guitar over the weekend (she was on America's Got Talent this past fall).
Be careful

my music friends will only bring their instruments on as 'personal items' in the cabin.
