Highly recommend going. The models were very detailed and the tours are led by people who make the movies so you get a lot of behind the scenes info.

We didn't go when we first saw this last year and then the lines were SOOOOO long we didn't even try. Going to try to do this early this year!
-
That's awesome! We didn't make it last year but my husband loves Laika and will be super excited to get a second chance.

Hopefully they’re open a couple days early like last year. I went Wednesday the line wasn’t too bad maybe like 1/2 an hour. This place should be bigger so hopefully they can accommodate more people at once.

Hoping maybe it will be open after PN Breakfast at Broken Yolk!

Last year was amazing. I'm buzzing to see they have returned.

Not much more detail, but some cool info:
I learned that for LAIKA LIVE San Diego this year, there will be life-size movie sets that the public can enter, including Coraline’s bedroom!
Sounds so cool!

But when do they open......?

Full announcement tomorrow.
Looking forward to it!

Last year they opened the entire week before SDCC. We pretty much walked right in on the weekend prior to comic-con. It was great and I am very much excited to see this bigger setup this year.
-
Normally, I come into San Diego on Tuesday and spend the pre-con time getting ready. This year, I'm coming in that weekend before so I hope Laika decides to have the store open for the full week. I loved that exhibit last year. So cool to see the sets and puppets up close.
-
I'm SO FREAKIN' EXCITED ABOUT THIS!! I'm such a huge Laika fan and loved last years exhibit. I was thinking that they might not do something this year...so glad I was wrong!!

I'm definitely going this weekend. I love how they open it so early.
-
Rats, I don't think I can attend it Wednesday. Hopefully it won't as bad with the bigger space.
-
I'm going on Friday hoping that many out of towners won't be in yet and that most in towners won't even be thinking about it.

Nice. I sure wish I could fly into town earlier!

Love that they are opening early again!

Went today. Today was the day to go. I showed up at 1pm in case there was a line. There wasn't. I walked around and came back at around 1:40 and there was a small line of about 10-15 people. I got in line and they opened shortly after 2pm. They took people in groups of 8 for a 20-25 min tour. It was awesome. When I left, the line was about the same, 20 people or so.
I love how it's a pre-con offsite. I hope others follow their lead. This year there also seem to be many more offsites opened late instead of closing at 5-6pm. I noticed some last year, there seem to be an explosion of them this year. Some don't even start until 11pm.

I can't wait. Are you allowed to stay after the tour like last year?

Yes in the gift shop area. I don't think they would want people wandering around the exhibit area since that would interfere with the flow of tours. They weren't very strict on moving people along in the tours. It was more like please join us in the next area when you are done here. It was all very chill.

Lots of fun merch at #LAIKAAlive. Included in this tweet is price list. Also, there will be a separate merchandise only line this year. #SDCC

"it’s free. you just go to the booth on the right before entering the event"

I went last night. No line. But it got busier about a half an hour later.
-
Wanted to show my mom around downtown today to let her see what I see during the Con. We stopped by the Laika Live around mid afternoon and the line stretched around the block just past a construction area. Total wait time was close to 2 hours. They also had the Mondo Coraline there for sale along with previous years Mondo poster and vinyls.
It was cool to see the live demonstrations and large set pieces from Coraline and Boxtrolls. Recommend but be prepared for waits.
-
We stopped by too late yesterday to get in, but remember you can get into the gift shop area without standing in that line if you are only there for merch. Now there can be a line for that as well. While the exhibit line was closed, they said that we could see the merch if we wanted but to wait a second while it cleared out a bit. So we stood there. As with all things at comic-con, once someone starts standing in line other people will quickly stand in that line too. So a line formed behind us. We went in and came back out in a couple of minutes and the merch line was about 20-30 people long.
-
Yeah our wait was about 2.5 hours for LAIKA yesterday.
-
Laika line already closed for the day. I'm so glad I went on Friday and I'm sad to have missed my second time around yesterday. It's only going to get crazier from this point on.
-
Got in line today around 11:45am...and I'm still in line. One more group ahead of me so nearly a 4 hr wait to start the tour.
