Walker Stalker Cons
« on: March 20, 2017, 08:53:50 AM »
Has anyone ever attended a Walker Stalker con? I went to the small one they had in San Diego during SDCC a couple of years ago, but I'm planning to attend my first 'real' one in San Francisco in April. Can anyone who has been to one of these cons tell me about their experience? What was it like? Any tips?

I went to their London show last month.

Thanks, FBS. Great review! I love the pic of you and Seth Gilliam!

Did you attend any panels? Were they well-run? I gather you had the general admission option. Do you think that was a better deal than the VIP options?

Didn't go to any panels.
GA vs VIP really depends on if you want autograph/photograph with actors. If you are looking to get one or the other with one of the bigger stars then go VIP. If you are only looking to go to the con and have a walk around etc then GA will be fine.

Thanks. I don't buy autographs/photo ops, but I do love panels, so for me the VIP attraction is the reserved seating in the panel rooms.

I went to the con last year, and it was pretty good. The panels they had were held in an open area (Main Stage) where they just laid out a bunch of seats enclosed by railings and pretty much anybody that didn't get a seat could just stand and watch from the sides. The stage was elevated so everybody could see.

There were two warehouses that they used, one was most of the celeb autographs and the other was a combo of booths and celeb autos.  The booths were horror themed for the most part but there were artists there selling their prints of other stuff as well. The Celeb Photo Ops were done in a separate building across from the warehouses.

You could probably casually stroll through just about everything and be done in 5-6 hours unless there's a specific panel you wanted to watch.

I don't know if you're going to drive there or take an Uber but I went on a Saturday, arrived at 7:45 ish and the Fort Mason parking was all gone and I had to park at Marina Drive which wasn't that bad but a little bit of a walk to Fort Mason.

Hope that helps TJ, have a great time!

Thanks, Mel! Interesting that the parking was all gone at 7:45. Doesn't the con open at 10 am? Yowsa!

I believe so.  I remember a jogger asking me why are there so many cars this early, I told her it was a Walking Dead convention.

If it's predominantly panels you want to get into then you should be fine with GA. The only panel that wasn't allowing GA attendees in was the Andrew Lincoln one. All others were on the main stage and easy to get into.

I would recommend arriving early. I got there about 8:30am. Got in the building just after 10am.
But there was a slight mix up at will call over wristbands.

You and I will have to compare notes in the fall - I've only done the small one in San Diego as well, so I'll be doing my first "real" one in Atlanta this October ;)

Atlanta is the mother of Walker Stalker cons! I know you'll have a great time at that one!

So jealous-I would love to go to that one. My sister-in-law drives down from Illinois and loves it. I have a bag that I have been getting signed by the cast. I would love to get Andrew Lincoln's on it.

The Walker Stalker Con in Chicago is this weekend (March 25-26) up near O'Hare, I just found out about it so I shot my son a text to see if he wants to go.  Anyone else going?  Gives me a chance to try out my new costume (not that I'm any great costume maker).

I'm not in that area, but please report back and let us know how it went!
