ICYMI:

http://visitanaheim.org/blog-post/2017/09/27/anaheim-convention-center-officially-opens-new-acc-north-building

Quote
It all started back in 1960 when a group of 61 Anaheim business leaders organized to determine what they could do to make the city a year-round tourist destination. Calling themselves the Anaheim Visitor and Convention Bureau (now Visit Anaheim), their goal was to capitalize on Disneyland's success and their solution was to build a convention center.

The Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) opened July 12, 1967 at a cost of $15 million and celebrates its 50-year anniversary this year. Originally, the center featured 400,000 square feet, but now with the latest addition of ACC North, the convention center joins the elusive “one-million-square-foot-club.”

Let's take a trip down memoy lane of the last 50 years.

With Comic-con Pro-Reg conducted so early, before Returning Attendee Reg this time around, does anyone have any insight on if Wondercon Pro-Reg might come before Wondercon Attendee reg also?

I'm not sure it's necessary. WonderCOn doesn't sell out nearly as fast as SDCC.

Never been to WonderCon Anaheim? Curious about the who, what, where, when, and why? Well, you’re in luck because we’re here to guide you through the 5 W’s of WonderCon Anaheim 2018!

WHO

WonderCon Anaheim is brought to you by the same people who put on Comic-Con in San Diego!

WHAT

Comic-Con’s sister convention, WonderCon Anaheim, features 900+ exhibitors in a 412,000 square foot (!) Exhibit Hall filled with comics, original art, toys, and merchandise from many popular artists and retailers. Attendees can expect exclusive programming from movie and television panels, the top comics publishers in the country, anime, autographs, games, the Masquerade, and portfolio review. WonderCon Anaheim offers the complete convention experience!

WHERE

The newly expanded Anaheim Convention Center! 800 W Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802. The Anaheim Convention Center is also in close proximity to Downtown Disney, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure.

WHEN

Friday, March 23 — Sunday, March 25, 2018. Spring time! Last year, the weather was a perfect 72 degrees. Obviously, we can’t make any guarantees (hello, mother nature!), but it’s safe to say we can expect a similar weather pattern.

WHY

Because we are dedicated to spreading awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular artforms through the presentation of conventions. WonderCon Anaheim gives you the opportunity to engage on a deeper level with artists, writers, and publishers in an expansive Artists Alley/Small Press Area and through Q&A engagement at many of our popular panels featuring writiers and talent from the latest film and television releases!

So my family didn't do too great in San Diego Open Registration. We're thinking about Wonder Con. I know this is hard to answer, but would you say it's better to get a complete Wonder Con badge as opposed to Thursday and Sunday at San Diego?

We're also thinking if it's less crowded that Wonder Con may be more kid-friendly. Open to any opinions. Sorry if this isn't the right place.

Thursday and Sunday at SDCC ar better. If you've never been, you have no idea of the scope of the offsite events. Trust me, you will have PLENTY to do at the offsites on Friday and Saturday.

That being said, WonderCon is okay. But it doesn't have all of the glitz and hype of SDCC.

Never been to Wondercon before, but guessing it not as multimedia as SDCC is now days. guessing and depends on space that it can get there if space permits, that why SDCC got the offsite stuff going so not everyone try be inside the center all day and try check out events around the con so gotta manage time and what u wanna do most when con comes aroud.

WonderCon, to me, feels a LOT like Comic-Con felt when I first started attending in 2000.  There may be some movie panels (the last time I went to WonderCon several years ago there were panels for KINSGMEN, PACIFIC RIM, X-MEN APOCALYPSE, and HOW TO TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 (as well as a screening of the first 45 min or so of DRAGON 2).  The year before that there was. PROMETHEUS panel, 21 JUMPSTREET panel, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, and may be a few others I don’t remember.  But the focus is mainly on comics, anime, non-movies or TV.  The exhibit hall is pretty awesome, and I was able to meet/get autographs of artists a LOT easier than SDCC (Jim Lee had a very minimal line; Rob Liefeld; even Stan Lee).
Unfortunately the last several years WonderCon hasn’t fit into my schedule well and I’ve missed it.  I’ll have to miss it again this year.  But I highly recommend checking it out if one is able to

I agree that WonderCon is a lot like Comic-Con back in the "good old days". Much easier to move on the floor and I've never been shut out of a panel I wanted to go to. You can get a lot of the same merch as Comic-Con but few exclusives. I have to say that it is getting a little bit more crowded each year and you don't get the "big name" panels. I'm already booked for all 3 days and looking forward to it. Especially since I was shut out of Comic-Con this year. :'(

I've been to Wondercon at 3 separate venues (San Fran, Anaheim, and LA) and I have to say Anaheim is the best. So as long as its there I would recommend it. Definitely a smaller con (by SDCC standards) but still gets some semi-big names and panels.

c2e2, Emerald City and Dragoncon are also good, but very different than SDCC.

Does anyone know when Pro Badges will be available for Wondercon? - or did I miss something? The only thing I see on the Comic-con website is info on press applications not the actual getting badge process - with the con coming in late March - there is isn't a lot of time left.

If walking around in costume inside WonderCon Anaheim and posing for large group photos at the outside fountain isn’t enough costuming for you, then reserve a contestant spot in our Saturday night major event, where you can present your impressive costume creation to an audience of 3,000 on the same Arena stage we use for major film and TV presentations, and have a fun time. We’ve reserved our big stage that evening just for you, as WonderCon Anaheim once again celebrates the art that touches near all other popular art forms with our on-stage costume show, returning for its 15th year. It’s an evening of fun, surprises, and great costumes crafted by our attendees. Why call this a Masquerade instead of an exhibition or fashion show? Simply put, “to masquerade” means to portray someone other than yourself, and our contestants bring to the stage as much imagination as they do skilled workmanship, by portraying characters and creating inventive presentations with drama, humor, a storyline, and sometimes a mock battle or two.

Not a dance or party as the name might imply, each entry is allotted their own time on stage, and we use our giant high-definition video screen and multiple cameras to display great close-up views to the audience. Most of the costume presentations are accompanied by specially prepared music, and some with elaborate choreography. Some will be impressive re-creations from the genres of comics, film, television, anime, fantasy, stage shows, video games, and history; others will be completely original designs from the imaginations of our attendees. Some will be solo entries, others will be groups with a shared theme. If you've crafted a costume you think our audience would enjoy seeing up on the stage, we encourage you to sign up and share your work, create lots of smiles, and perhaps take home a trophy or other prize. All genres are welcome, but costumes must NOT have been purchased or otherwise commercially obtained, and be of original construction or show significant modification of pre-existing materials.

The Masquerade event will be 8:30 PM Saturday, March 24, in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
The event is free to participate in, or to be in the audience, only a WonderCon Anaheim attendee badge valid for Saturday is needed. Doors will open for audience seating at 8:00 PM, and the event will run about 2 and 1/2 hours. Special seating will be available for the disabled, selected press approved in advance, and for special guests. Audience tickets are not used for this event since our large venue has plenty of seating.

For complete information, rules, and an Advance Entry Form click here
or you can e-mail the Masquerade Coordinator at [email protected] to request a copy e-mailed to you. A limited number of contestant slots are available, so interested costumers should obtain the rules and entry form as soon as possible. A photo of the costume or costumes you are entering will also be required for confirmation of eligibility. Entries are now being accepted and it’s smart to enter sooner than later. The Deadline for advance entry is March 9, 2018 (two weeks before WonderCon Anaheim 2018). After that date contestants can sign up at WonderCon on Friday, IF any slots are still available. Once we fill up there will be a Waiting List to fill openings from cancellations. Our volunteer staff has been running Masquerades for over 20 years, and we’ll do our best to provide you with a great time.

No flash photography is allowed at the event, and any photos or video taken are intended for non-profit personal use only. There will be a flash-allowed posing area with a backdrop in a nearby room where the contestants will go after their stage presentations, but spaces are limited, and photographers who wish access to the Photo Area should reserve a spot in advance by writing to the e-mail above. Credentialed press that would like front section seating in the audience should also write to the Coordinator in advance.

Remember that the convention attendee badges sell out fast, and you’ll need a Saturday badge to participate in, or just attend, the WonderCon Anaheim Masquerade, so click here to purchase your badges now!

Awards
Trophies will be awarded by our panel of guest judges to outstanding entries in the following categories:

Best in Show
Judges’ Choice
Best Re-Creation
Best Original Design
Best Workmanship
Most Humorous
Most Beautiful
Best Young Fan
Winners in these trophy categories will also receive complimentary 3-day badges for WonderCon Anaheim 2019 as an added thank you for all their hard work and talent!  If a group entry wins a category, up to 4 free badges will be bestowed to that group.

In addition to the trophies given by the WonderCon judges, several organizations and companies will present their own generous cash, collectibles, and other prizes to winners they select. Those will be added between now and the convention so be sure to check back regularly for the latest award additions to include:

Frank & Son Collectible Show of the City of Industry, California, “The first and last stop for ALL your collectible needs”, will present a generous $500 cash prize to the costume entry they deem to be the audience favorite.

I've been to multiple WonderCons in Anaheim (though not the last couple years), and I'd def. say it's way better to go to Comic-Con Thursday & Sunday than WonderCon all days.  There are some great panels on Thursdays at Comic-Con typically, as well as Sunday (depending on your preferences/choices of panels).  TONS of awesome deals to be had at Comic-Con on Sundays, with every once in awhile manufacturers literally giving away product (I was given PREDATOR on Blu-ray by Fox one year because I didn't have a credit card; my son's been given Transformers and GI Joe exclusives from the booth when he was a younger kid).  As others have mentioned, having days in San Diego w/out a badge = a great opportunity to check out offsite events, or some other really cool things around downtown (the zoo is super close by; the SD Comic Art Gallery is close by in one of my favorite local spots Liberty Station; there's the chance to see Conan O'Brien; etc).

WonderCon is great, and I wish my schedule was able to accommodate it this year; but I don't think it compares much to modern Comic-Con.  If I had a choice I would choose SDCCI every second of every day over WonderCon; if I had a better choice, I would go to both every year (I also live in San Diego so that makes things much easier for me)

I not gone to WonderCon, but have been to SDCC at times years back and by chance last year and ready go this year as volunteer. SDCC is one of the top 3 cons as far as i know unless im wrong. but there are so many cons now compared to when i went to SDCC years ago that i read some have gone to many over the years who are able to go and some have grown like SDCC has done. some cons do well and some flop in ways over time or first time and guess cause they think it so easy to do with out the right planning and all. any con goer wants any con to do well and go right every year, but we cant control the behind the scenes that fall apart for any reason cause of any bad planning. so i be happy i go to what i can and see it as mini vacation as it so many days in a row.

Do you believe in UFO’s, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster, and the theory of Atlantis? Yes? No? Well, believe this: Your WonderCon Anaheim badge will be shipped in advance if you purchase it by February 20, 2018! That means no line to pick up your badge! You won’t find Dana in line … but Zuul will be.

Thankfully, there isn’t a Gatekeeper or Keymaster standing in your way so purchasing a badge is easy. Simply log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account, select the “Registration Info” tab, and choose the “Purchase Badges” option in the WonderCon Anaheim section. Badges will not be sold onsite at the Anaheim Convention Center. If you don’t have a Comic-Con Member ID, click here to sign up today!

So, strap on your unlicensed nuclear accelerator and take advantage of advance shipping by purchasing your badge by February 20, 2018. Your badge will be mailed to the shipping address on file in your Comic-Con Member ID account as of this date.

Badges will begin shipping at least 3 — 4 weeks prior to March 22, 2018. We send them in batches, so please do not be alarmed if Ray, Egon, or Winston receives their badge before or after you. Badges not delivered for any reason (lost/stolen by the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man/returned to sender) must be picked up onsite.

There’s a big Twinkie in the room, and we’re here to acknowledge it. We are unable to ship to an international address. International attendees will be able to pick up their badge when they arrive onsite at the Registration Area.

Remember, if you purchase your badge by February 20, 2018 it will be shipped to you in advance! When it arrives, pop open an Ecto Cooler and celebrate!

Thank you. Hope we can help you again. One Class 5 full-roaming vapor. Move ‘em out!

This year’s WonderCon Anaheim Program Book cover celebrates an amazing comics milestone: the 1000th issue of Action Comics, featuring Superman!

Eighty years ago, two young men from Cleveland, Ohio-Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster-saw their dreams come true when their creation, Superman, was picked to be the cover feature on a new comic from National Allied Publications, known today as DC Comics. Action Comics #1 debuted in June of 1938 with a cover featuring a costumed man lifting a car and smashing it with his bare hands. The book was a massive hit and 999 issues later, Superman is one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the world, the star of comics, movies, television, animated films, and much more.

Our cover is illustrated by WonderCon Anaheim 2018 special guest Dan Jurgens, who has a long history with Superman. Jurgens was one of the creators behind the “Death of Superman” storyline in the 1990s and has helped to redefine the character in the Rebirth era. Joining Dan are his long-time inker Norm Rapmund, plus color artist Alex Sinclair, and letterer Todd Klein, celebrating the Man of Steel on his groundbreaking anniversary, and the character’s continued quest for truth, justice, and the American way!

The WonderCon Anaheim Program Book is given free to all attendees at the event. It’s the official guide to all things WonderCon, including the complete schedules for programs, anime, and games, bios and photos of our special guests, maps of the Anaheim Convention Center and the area around it, and much more. Make sure to pick up your copy when you arrive at WonderCon. Dan, Norm, and Alex will all be in Artists’ Alley, so get that cover signed by the artists!

Happy 80th birthday, Superman, and happy 1000th issue of Action Comics!

People of WonderConopolis, this is your mayor. Follow me: We will avoid lines in the badge pick-up area by buying our badges before the shipping deadline!

I have isolated the algorithm for buying badges! If you purchase a WonderCon Anaheim 2018 attendee badge prior to February 20, 2018, your badge will be mailed to you in advance. Your badge will be shipped to the address on file in your Comic-Con Member ID account as of February 20, 2018. Upon further evaluation, I have discovered that Comic-Con is unable to accept address changes after this date. They encourage you to purchase your badge early to take advantage of advance shipping, and I agree. Don't you think if I were wrong, I'd know it?

Badges for those who purchased in advance will begin shipping 3 - 4 weeks prior to March 22, 2018. Badges will be shipped in batches, so a friend or family member may receive their badge before/after you! Badges not delivered for any reason (lost in dark matter/stolen/destroyed) must be picked up onsite at the Registration Area in Hall D.

If you choose to purchase your badge after February 20, 2018, you must pick up your badge onsite at the Registration Area in Hall D, and I won't say anything. I'll merely offer you a facial expression that suggests you've gone insane. Please click here for more information about badge pick-up.

If you need help deciding when to purchase your badge, remember this: Scissors cut paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitate lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and as it always has, advance shipping beats onsite pick-up. It's simple.

Bazinga!

Quote
May the epic countdown begin! We’re a mere 30 days away from WonderCon Anaheim 2018!

Let’s start with a short history lesson, shall we? Once upon a time, there was a comic retailer named John Barrett who wanted to organize an event encompassing all the makings of a classic comic convention. He envisioned an Exhibit Hall with dealers selling old and new comics (among other items), creative programming, anime screenings, and games. He gathered his friends (Bob Borden, Bryan Uhlenbrock, Rory Root, Joe Field, and Mike Friedrich) to help bring his vision to life. In 1987, this event was established as “The Wonderful World of Comics Convention” in Oakland, CA. Then, in 2001, the remaining partners reached out to Comic-Con in hopes that we could incorporate WonderCon into our family of conventions.

We adopted the Oakland-based event in 2002 and relocated it to San Francisco in 2003. After 10 years as a Bay Area event, WonderCon moved to Anaheim in 2012 (due to construction at Moscone Center) and has been there ever since (with a one-year trip to Los Angeles in 2016, due to-you guessed it-construction at the Anaheim Convention Center). Now officially called “Comic-Con International Presents WonderCon Anaheim,” 2018 marks our 17th year with the event, and the 32nd continuous year for WonderCon!

Did you know that WonderCon Anaheim is Comic-Con’s sister convention? It has embraced all the main aspects of Comic-Con, including comics, movies, TV, animation, and the Masquerade, just to name a few. We truly hope you’ll join us this year as WonderCon Anaheim continues to grow (including an Anaheim Convention Center expansion!).

Today marks the first of 30 consecutive days of Toucan Tips. Bookmark us and check back every day for tips and tricks that will help you plan your visit to Anaheim.

Welcome to this year’s edition of “Exhibit Hall Do’s and Don’ts!” We’re back with another helpful list of tips and tricks to help you navigate our expansive Exhibit Hall and enjoy a safe WonderCon Anaheim 2018.

DO! Know what a Floor Manager is, and how to spot them
WonderCon Anaheim’s Exhibit Hall is a vibrant and exciting place. However, keeping it safe and organized requires a dedicated crew of people. WonderCon Anaheim Floor Managers are those people! Look for tan polos or white button-down shirts, with the Comic-Con logo. Floor Managers are there so we can all safely enjoy WonderCon Anaheim. Please don’t hesitate to ask them questions, but also remember to comply with their instructions!

DO! Take advantage of the lobby to get places faster
Want to get to the other side of the Exhibit Hall, and get there fast? Use the lobby! It’s less crowded than the Exhibit Hall and is a tried-and-true method to find your bearings if you’re lost.

DO! Look around when getting in line for a purchase, autograph, etc.
Does that line look too short to be true? Look around for clues! Chances are, the line has been “broken” and continues across the aisle for safety purposes. Floor Managers will be nearby directing convention-goers around the break toward the end of the actual line.

DO! Ask permission before taking someone’s picture
WonderCon Anaheim is a great place to enjoy the detailed cosplay our attendees work so hard on. However, it’s a good idea to take a few seconds and double-check it’s ok to take someone’s picture. Keep it courteous! Once you’ve asked permission and have snapped the perfect photo, please be sure to clear the aisle quickly to allow your fellow attendees a chance to create their own perfect Kodak moment.

DO! Be aware of your backpacks and poster tubes
Sometimes backpacks can be filled to the brim with an excellent haul, and we can all appreciate a well-packaged poster. Make sure your backpacks and poster tubes aren’t negatively impacting the experience of other attendees. Keep an eye on your personal items to avoid knocking over displays or hurting someone (especially the wee kiddos who might be eye-level with the bottoms of bags).

DO! Check out the aisle sign markers hanging from the rafters
Aisle signs markers are great tools to help you figure out where you are in the Exhibit Hall, especially if you use the Exhibit Hall map found in your Program Book. They are also useful for remembering where certain booths are that you’d like to revisit later. Make sure to note whether the booth is toward the front, middle, or back of the Exhibit Hall when jotting down aisle sign markers!

DO! Keep to your right
We all know the Exhibit Hall can get crowded. To help alleviate aisle congestion, keep to your right to help traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks and potential safety hazards. You might even hear a Floor Manager reminding attendees of this “Exhibit Hall Do” to make sure everyone’s experience is enjoyable.

DON’T! Attempt retail sales unless you have exhibit space
Retail sales are prohibited unless you have been allocated, or purchased, WonderCon Anaheim exhibit space. Such sales may not be facilitated in any WonderCon Anaheim convention site, including but not limited to: programming rooms, Exhibit Hall aisles and lounges, lobbies, outdoor Anaheim Convention Center grounds, and the Hilton Anaheim (our headquarters hotel).

DON’T! Use hover boards, rolling carts, or double-wide strollers
We know, we know! Hover boards are awesome, and rolling carts are useful. But we want to keep the Exhibit Hall safe for everyone, so please leave those doodads at home. Only WonderCon Anaheim exhibitors are permitted to use rolling carts during specified hours.

Double-wide strollers are also awesome and useful. However, for safety purposes, we ask you don’t bring them as they are not permitted in the Exhibit Hall. For your convenience, there is stroller parking at the Anaheim Convention Center.

DON’T! Run in the programming rooms, lobby, Exhibit Hall, or outside the Anaheim Convention Center
Even if you’re just trying to get to your favorite panel or exhibitor, running risks your safety, the safety of others, and having your badge taken away (AKA being removed from the event). Just don’t do it!

DON’T! Cluster in the aisles and common areas
WonderCon Anaheim has a lot of great merchandise and amazing talent in attendance. Many of our attendees wish to purchase that “must have” item or get that famous signature. Because of this, we must make sure lines for such things are organized in the safest way possible. Clustering in the aisles and common areas creates safety hazards and traffic jams. Floor Managers will set and manage lines throughout the Exhibit Hall to prevent such congestion. Please follow their directions at all times!

Your badge has arrived, you’ve mapped out your weekend, and now you need to get to the Anaheim Convention Center! There are plenty of transportation options available, and we’ve put all them all in one place.

Planes …
If you’re flying to Anaheim, then landing at the John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County is the best option because it is approximately 14 miles away from the Anaheim Convention Center. The next best choice would be the Long Beach Airport (LGB) which comes in at 20 miles away. The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a whopping 35 miles away! If you must fly into LAX, we highly suggest keeping an eye on traffic as driving to the convention center alone will take close to an hour. No one wants to spend their time on a freeway when they could be in the Exhibit Hall!

Trains …
Taking the Pacific Surfliner is a great option! The Amtrak Anaheim Station is only 3 miles away from the Convention Center. This is a personal favorite of ours-the ride is smooth, and the views are amazing! We love using the time on the train to get lost in a graphic novel.

And Automobiles …
Probably the most popular form of transportation! Please be aware that the Anaheim Convention Center has been newly remodeled, so it’ll likely be a little different from last year. There is a set of directions below for your convenience. However, we highly suggest you take advantage of your GPS. In most instances, it will direct you to the best route based on traffic and driving conditions. For your GPS or map app, use 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 as the address.

If you’re driving from the North:
Take the I-5 South, exit Harbor Blvd., turn right onto S Harbor, and then turn right onto W Convention Way.

If you’re driving from the South:
Take the I-5 North, exit Katella/Disney Way, turn left onto E Katella, drive about a mile to S Harbor, turn left onto S Harbor, then turn right onto W Convention Way.

And Parking …
Parking is available in all lots at the Anaheim Convention Center on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no reserved parking spots or valet options available. The Convention Center has several parking lots, but they fill up very quickly.

We want to give you the most current parking information possible, so please check our Parking page for updated info as we get closer to the event!

WonderCon Anaheim 2018 is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center for another exciting year! Come join us to check out the new Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) North 200,000 square-foot expansion, making it the largest convention center on the West Coast, and one of the largest in the United States.

As a WonderCon Anaheim 2018 attendee, you’re definitely going to want to visit the ACC North expansion. It’s the hub for those interested in animation, television, and film-especially since this is where two of our largest programming rooms are relocating! You’re also going to want to visit the Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) lounge. That’s right, we said VR and AR Lounge. Curious about how to get there from the original Convention Center? No biggie, just take the brand-new pedestrian bridge. Whaaaaaat!

Our Artists’ Alley and Small Press areas are a huge hit with our attendees, and for good reason! Between both areas, there are close to 500 amazing artists and creators to see, which can be overwhelming. Make the most of your time (and remain stress free!) by planning your visit in advance. Use our Artists’ Alley, Small Press, and Exhibitor Lists, for the most up-to-date information on who’s coming and where they will be.

Not familiar with these areas? Both Artists’ Alley and Small Press feature some of the best and up-and-coming industry professionals in the comics, science fiction, fantasy, and related popular arts fields. Make sure to visit Artists’ Alley for your favorite artists and illustrators. Interested in independent publishers? Head over to Small Press!

Navigating these areas can be tricky. With so much to see and do, it’s easy to spend an entire day there! We’ve compiled a checklist to help you traverse your way with ease:

Plan your route! Use the links above to find out who will be at WonderCon Anaheim 2018 and where. A little bit of prep goes a long way.
Bring supplies! There will be some essentials available in the Exhibit Hall, but you may want to think about bringing poster board, tubes, comic book sleeves, or packing material to make sure your art and books makes it home safely.
Don’t forget to browse through portfolios and binders on the artists’ tables. They can’t display everything, and you never know what hidden gems are lurking in their binders.
Many artists’ will do sketches for a fee! Bring a sketchbook; it’s much handier than a piece of paper!
A lot of artists offer prints of some of their work, which you can get signed with purchase.
Collect the business cards of artists whose work you like so you can visit their website or social media pages.
Pens! Bring permanent markers or colored pens for autographs.
Don’t forget your manners. Be courteous and don’t ask the artists and creators to sign everything-choose your favorite item!
Keep it moving. There’s a lot to see, but congestion and lingering in the aisles can create safety hazards and traffic jams.
WonderCon’s Artists’ Alley and Small Press areas are filled to the brim with amazing art, comics, books, and people. Make sure you set aside enough time to see it all.

Forget to register for your WonderCon Anaheim 2018 badge in time to have it shipped in advance because you were catching up on Paper Girls? No problem, we have you covered!

If your badge was not shipped in advance, you’ll have to come pick up your badge onsite. All you need is your valid photo ID and your badge confirmation that was emailed to you upon purchase. Can’t find your badge confirmation? Check the email account associated with your Comic-Con Member ID. Make sure to peek in those pesky email SPAM folders just to be safe. Still can’t find it? Log in to your Member ID account, click the “Registration Info” tab, and select “View My Registration Confirmation” towards the bottom.

Now that you’ve got your photo ID and your badge confirmation ready to go, what’s next? Bring those onsite to the Registration Area in Hall D of the Anaheim Convention Center: 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 during the badge pick-up hours listed below. While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up your official WonderCon Anaheim 2018  Program Book, bag, and lanyard!

But first, let’s see if you have a single-day badge or a 3-Day badge. If you have a single-day badge, you can pick it up on the day indicated on the badge, or the day before what is indicated on the badge from 4:00—7:00 PM. For example, if you purchased a Sunday badge, you may pick it up on Saturday from 4:00—7:00 PM, or Sunday. If you have a 3-Day badge, you may pick up your badge during any of the hours listed below.

Thursday, March 22: 12:00 PM — 7:00 PM
Friday, March 23: 10:00 AM — 7:00 PM
Saturday, March 24: 8:30 AM — 7:00 PM
Sunday, March 25: 8:30 AM — 5:30 PM
Pro Tip: Badge pick-up hours are subject to change, and even though they probably won’t, make sure to double-check here as we get closer to the event!

Wait just a second … where do attendees receive their Program Book, bag, and lanyard if they had their badge shipped in advance? Great question! You’re going to head to Hall D of the Anaheim Convention Center when you get onsite to pick up these goodies! Don't forget to bring your badge!

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #12: WonderCon Anaheim 2018 Programming Tracks!

WonderCon Anaheim’s complete Programming Schedule release is right around the corner, in fact, it’s coming later this week! In the meantime, we thought we’d give you a small glimpse into what you can expect to see at this year’s event.

Are you interested in panels highlighting our special guests? Then make sure to check out Room 213AB! There you can find Kevin Hearne (Iron Druid Chronicles, Seven Kennings), Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home, Phoenix Resurrection), and Liam Sharp (The Brave and The Bold, The Possessed) in spotlight panels! Complete with interviews and Q&A sessions in intimate settings, Room 213AB is just one of the places to be when it comes to special guests; look for the complete list of special guest panels on the schedule. To quickly find a spotlight panel or group panel featuring a special guest, look for the brand-new Special Guest Icon on the schedule grids in the Program Book onsite!

Our Fan Culture track will be returning this year, but in a new location! Room 213CD will be home to all things “fan culture” related. Come join us for panels that inspire fan-driven discussion, creative skill-set development, and bring together people with similar interests and passions.

Make sure to stick around even after the Exhibit Hall closes at 7:00 PM, for extended programming hours on Friday and Saturday. WonderCon Anaheim continues after dark, and we encourage you to explore and discover new interests.

Stay tuned for some exciting news about the programs in Room 204C, coming on Wednesday!

Honestly, since I'm solo this year, I hadn't planned on it. But if the programming Thursday afternoon isn't enticing, I may consider the 'after 4 pm' ticket.

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #14: Future Tech Live! at WonderCon Anaheim 2018

Are you interested in virtual reality, robotics, and artificial intelligence? You’ve come to the right place. Future Tech Live! joined our sister convention, Comic-Con International, for the first time in 2017,  and we're very excited to announce they'll be making their debut with us this year at WonderCon Anaheim!

By the way, they’re bringing with them some pretty amazing surprises. (Wink-wink.)

There will be a brand-new Space Zone, complete with members from NASA. The AI Innovation Fair will be the place to explore several technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Did you just ask about an astronaut extreme dive? Yup, they’ll have that, too! Just be on the lookout for Fulldome Pro and the team from SpaceCRAFT.

Future Tech Live! will be featured in its own room at WonderCon Anaheim 2018 ... stay tuned for more details later this week!

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #15: Spotlight on Room 204C

Come one, come all! Room 204C has something for everyone! Kids, writers, artists, gamers, talkers, listeners, and everything in between. We welcome you to join us in Room 204C during one of the many amazing events listed below!

The Her Universe Fashion Show: Junior Design Camp
On Saturday, March 24 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein is inviting kids (ages 5-17) to learn design with the Her Universe Team during her junior design camp! This event is free with a WonderCon Anaheim 2018 badge (child badges for kids age 12 and under are free with a paid adult badge) and no experience is needed. During this three-hour session, junior designers will learn how to bring their ideas to life with a step-by-step tutorial of the fashion design process. Junior designers of all skill levels are encouraged to come armed with only their imagination, but ready to learn and sketch out their designs (supplies will be provided!). Parents are welcome to attend and will also have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A portion of the class.

Writers Coffeehouse
We are thrilled to announce that Mysterious Galaxy will be bringing The Writers Coffeehouse to WonderCon Anaheim from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Sunday, March 25! Led by Peter Clines (Paradox Bound, The Fold, and countless articles on the film and television industries), the Writers Coffeehouse is exactly what it sounds like: a bunch of writers hanging out and talking about writing. Questions about pitching and selling? Writer’s block? Conquering frustrations in the writing industry? Come by for a chat! It’s open to all, so you could find yourself in the middle of a best-selling writer and a beginning one … just imagine all the information!

Comic Creator Connection
WonderCon Anaheim will once again host the Comic Creator Connection! This event is a unique opportunity for writers and artists to meet in a fun, fast-paced setting. If you are a writer looking for an artist, or an artist looking for a writer, you’ll get the opportunity to meet 15-20 people at the Comic Creator Connection.

During a two-hour period, writers and artists will sit down and meet each other in a neutral environment. The room will be set up so that artists sit on one side of a set of tables and writers sit on the other. Every five minutes, all the writers in the room rotate to a new artist, while artists remain seated. If you’re interested in furthering the conversation you’ll have the opportunity to exchange contact information.

For more information on when and how to sign up, click here!

Gaming Creator Connection
NEW FOR 2018! WonderCon Anaheim is proud to introduce the Gaming Creator Connection. This is a unique opportunity for game developers to receive valuable insight and mentoring from seasoned veterans in the gaming industry.

The Gaming Creator Connection is the perfect opportunity to seek expert advice in one of three areas: art design, narrative, and business.

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #16: WonderCon Anaheim Programming Room Do's and Don'ts

While we patiently wait for the announcement of our complete WonderCon Anaheim 2018 Programming Schedule (pssst! we hear it’s coming out tomorrow!), let’s review some programming room do’s and don’ts to get you prepared for the event.

DO! Go see a panel you hadn’t planned on attending
WonderCon Anaheim is a great place for exploration and trying new things, so we encourage you to go see something you hadn’t planned on. Take advantage of the fact that we don’t clear programming rooms after each panel, and attend a panel before or after the one you have in mind. You might find a new favorite!

DO! Move into the row as far as you can
Most programming rooms fill up for each event, so please move all the way into the row and don’t leave any empty seats. Scooch down and make room for others.

DO! Ask about bathroom passes
Some programming rooms have them, others don’t! It’s a good idea to be aware of this in case you’re planning to spend most of the day in a certain programming room.

DO! Be courteous to your neighbors
We’re all there for the same reason! It’s best to be nice and remember that we’re all trying to enjoy ourselves and the event. Plus, you might just make a new friend!

DO! Wear your badge at all times
Make sure to display your badge proudly so security can see it. Please remember that all event and program rooms have limited capacity as set by the fire marshal. Even though your badge is needed to get into all events, it does not guarantee access to any event if the venue has reached its capacity.

DON'T! Leave right at 7:00 PM when the Exhibit Hall closes
Programming continues late on Friday and Saturday nights. Be sure to review the Programming Schedule when it's released to plan ahead. WonderCon Anaheim doesn't stop when the Exhibit Hall closes!

DON’T! Stand (or run!) in our programming rooms
Chances are if you’re standing in front of your seat, instead of sitting in it, you’re negatively impacting the experience of the people around you. Please take a seat. Also, remember there is no running in the programming rooms, lobby, Exhibit Hall, or outside the Anaheim Convention Center.

DON’T! Get in line if you’re not ready to sit down
Please remember that the line is for the ROOM, not the PANEL. If you’re in line, you must take a seat as soon as one becomes available. If you don’t want to enter the programming room and take a seat just yet, you’ll have to leave the line.

DON’T! Sit in reserved seats
Certain seats are reserved for a reason, and will be clearly marked. Please avoid sitting in them, as you’ll be asked to relocate to a different seat anyway.

DON’T! Try to remain in programming rooms after-hours, or overnight
While we don’t clear programming rooms between events or panels, we do clear them at the end of each day. It might be tempting, but camping out overnight in programming rooms is prohibited.

DON’T! Bring strollers
While we recognize how handy strollers are, they can also be a safety hazard. We ask you don’t bring strollers as they are not permitted in programming rooms. For your convenience, there is stroller parking provided at the Anaheim Convention Center; check the "Quick Guide" section in the Program Book onsite (and here online as we get closer to the show), for maps showing the locations.

Seeing how CCI runs both SDCC and WonderCon, can u expect stuff that is at wondercon be same at sdcc or do they try to change it some incase traffic expects things to not be same at every con? i know last year some place pulled out do to budget and all, so i guess reading news of wondercon may be a slight difference or change in what will be at sddcc this year.

I was a little surprised that the schedule wasn't a little more spread out. There are a few nice things on Sunday but Friday is very sparse, without even many comic book panels. I agree that the Arena on Saturday appears to be the place to be.

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #19: Costume Props Check Desks!

One of our favorite parts of WonderCon Anaheim is the cosplay! From Donatello and Raphael to Anna and Elsa, the lobby and Exhibit Hall are often filled with amazing costumes. However, the safety of our attendees and guests is our number one priority. If your costume includes a prop or weapon, it must be checked and tagged at one of our Costume Props Check Desks.

There are 3 locations this year: on the Grand Plaza outside, inside in Lobby B/C, and in the lobby of the new North Building (locations are subject to change). So … before you pack up those props, here are a few things to remember when attending WonderCon Anaheim 2018:

No functional props or weapons are allowed at WonderCon Anaheim 2018.
All costume props and weapons must conform to state and federal law.
Projectile costume props and weapons must be rendered inoperable.
Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver.
Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn.
Remember, ALL costume props must be inspected at the Costume Props Check Desk. After your costume props have been checked, they will be tagged by security and you will be given a wristband to wear. If your costume prop is not tagged, security will escort you to the security station for inspection.

Important Note: If you do not want to have your costume props inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume props to WonderCon Anaheim 2018.

Just got my badge in the mail. Had my name on it . Did they have our names last year? I just bought the Disney Twilight tickets and saw they went up $4 from Fri.
Yes, the 2017 badges had our names on them😃

If this was discussed before my apologies for repeating an old story.  Interesting that the return address is San Diego, yet the envelopes were postmarked in Michigan.  Businesswise is it actually cheaper to get an out-of-state mail service company to mail the badges as opposed to one just down the street or at least somewhere in the same metropolitan area?

To me, it seems like... it might be because the badges themselves are most likely manufactured out-of-state, but the return address is in San Diego because that is CCI's base of operations.

That's just my educated guess.  ^__^;;

Who's Hungry? A WonderCon Guide to This Year's Food Trucks!

Drumroll please! … The food trucks are back for WonderCon Anaheim 2018 ... and this time they're in TWO locations!

Let’s face it: Going to programs, standing in line, shopping in the Exhibit Hall, standing in line, and looking for back issue comics, and standing in line really works up an appetite! WonderCon Anaheim and the Anaheim Convention Center have you covered this year with a great selection of 15 food trucks (featuring 12 savory and 3 dessert options), appearing on the Grand Plaza outside!

Scheduled to appear this year (line-up is subject to change):

FRIDAY-SUNDAY ON THE GRAND PLAZA
Barcelona On the Go (Latin Bistro)
Burger Monster (Gourmet Burgers & Sliders)
Chunk & Chip (Craft Ice Cream Sammichs)
The Coconut Truck (Asian Street Food)
Cool Crafted (Italian Ice and Other Desserts)
Falasophy (Falafel and Hummus Bar)
Kala (Artful Mexican Cuisine)
Meat Up BBQ (Smoked Comfort Food)
Mess Hall Canteen (Gourmet Tater Tots, Salads, Grilled Cheese)
My Delight Cupcakery (Cupcakes)
Nostimo Greek (Greek/Mediterranean Cuisine
Spudrunners (Fries, Baked Potatoes, and Grilled Cheese)
TJ’s Woodfire Pizza (Woodfire Pizza)
Viking (Sausage, Corn Dogs, Hot Dogs)

NEW FOR 2018: SECOND LOCATION!
FRIDAY-SUNDAY ON THE ARENA PLAZA
Broken Rice (Vietnamese Food)
Sana's Curry Bowl (Authentic Indian/Pakastani Cuisine)
Tasting Spoon (Gourmet Sandwiches)
The Shed (From Sol Agave) (Organic Mexican Food)
If food trucks aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other options:

• The Hilton Anaheim (our headquarters hotel!) has a food court. Choose from Sbarro, Baja Fresh Express, Just Grillin’, Submarina, and Starbucks. There you can also find Mix Restaurant and Mix Lounge.

• The Anaheim Marriott features nFuse Restaurant, Bar & Lounge, as well as a Pizza Hut and a Starbucks.

• Downtown Disney has a group of shops, restaurants (quick snacks and fine dining), and a movie theatre. After lunch or dinner, you can browse the World of Disney store for goodies!

• The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk is right down the street! Similar to a mall, there are numerous shops and a multiplex theatre. The restaurant list seems endless, and includes Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, McCormick & Schmick’s Grille, and Johnny Rockets, just to name a few.

Check out the Anaheim maps in the back of the WonderCon Anaheim 2018 Program Book ... with so many amazing food truck and restaurant options at and around the Anaheim Convention Center, you can explore new cuisines for days!

According to extended weather forecasts as of Sunday, March 18th, it may be raining all day on Thursday along the San Diego to Los Angeles corridor - so if you are driving down or from anywhere along that corridor on Thursday - plan accordingly and drive carefully. It supposed to be clear on Friday, Sat, Sun, and Mon.

WONDERCON ANAHEIM 2018 TOUCAN TIP OF THE DAY! #26: RFID Round-Up!

With WonderCon Anaheim 2018 fast approaching, we wanted to bring you a quick refresher about your badge. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is returning for another year to prevent counterfeit badges and scalping. Your badge will be assembled with a plastic RFID card that you’ll use to tap “in” and tap “out” of portals in and around the Anaheim Convention Center. If you see a green light at the access point where you tapped, you’re good to go!

Always remember to tap your badge, whether you’re entering or exiting. Otherwise, you might be denied re-entry and pointed towards the Badge Solutions Desk in Hall D or the Badge and RFID Help Desk in the ACC North Lobby for troubleshooting (and you’ll need a valid photo ID).

Are you bringing any youngsters with you? Great! Child (age 12 and under) badges are free with a paying adult. Just head on over to Hall D, provide some emergency contact information, then you and your kiddos will be ready to enjoy the event.

Friendly Reminder Alert!
If you purchased a badge before February 20, 2018, and your badge wasn’t delivered to you (lost/stolen/picked up by a raven), just bring a printed version of your badge confirmation and a valid photo ID to Hall D when you arrive. Click here for the most up-to-date badge pick-up hours and details.

I purchased both the Disney Twilight and Knotts Berry Farm passes for my family and I to use during Wondercon.  I was looking at the KBF passes and they state they are valid from 3/17/18 - 9/3/18.  Is it wrong of me to purchase additional passes to use for our family when we travel  back in July for Comic Con?  Or is that just a misuse of the intent?

It was disappointing, but expected.  With so many attendees vying via the online lottery each of our chances were minuscule.  I don't want SDCC to do this.

I am not a big fan of it either.. I hope SDCC doesn't go this route, but if they do- they should limit everyone's selections to 2 per day. If we were to stand in lines- there's no way we could stand in every line so we shouldn't have an option to choose every signing. I am guessing that there will be a lot of no shows at some of the signings this weekend.

I printed out my Disney Twilight tickets and they say right on them that there are good until 12/15/2018. In fact they say they aren't good 3/23/18 to 4/7/18.  ???

UGHHHHH...I just got off the phone with a Disney agent and her supervisor.  She said the Twilight tickets were not valid from 3/23/18 - 4/7/18 for Spring Break.  She advised me to use them on the Thursday the 22nd.  I told her we wont arrive until 9:30pm.  I guess I'll use them when we come back in July :(   :'(

It really doesn't make sense to offer tickets to Disney for convention goers that aren't valid during the convention ::). Don't question the Mouse, he knows what's best. I was going to go on Thursday but I've been to Disneyland on a rainy night and it wasn't fun.

Yeah I was looking at the twilight tickets since they had them last year but I noticed the dates too. I don't want to go Thursday since we may arrive late too and need to check in at the hotel, etc. that suck.

Agreed, but I did see on Twitter that if you did purchase Twilight passes, they will refund them for you.... I'm going to refund and use the extra money for the con ☺

Don't forget to come say hi at the Graphitti Designs booth! We will be running out of White Knight (NYCC) and Mera (ECCC) today! Those are the foil variant covers. The foil covers are already selling on eBay for $40, ugh flippers. As for WC shirts, bags, hats, and tiki mugs, we have a good amount. I'll try and update if something is getting low. I will for sure post on @graphittidesign on Twitter and do my best to post here too.

Yea, i think i feel same way about flippers. i guess for anything there are good and bad ones kinda. that partly why i think some comic book makers charge so much to sign a comic now days cause they discovered so to speak or supposed fans get alot signed at a time and resale for higher cost so now they assume or think u do same so charge alot sometimes just to sign a comic. but flippers resale alot of stuff , so it not just comics really. as i learned that the value of of a comic is what anyone is willing to pay to get at anytime. i know this seems to be a rant about flippers, im sure it a topic that can get anyone mad who really value something but flippers ruin by charge a s**t load sometimes to ship and profit just like any store so u just gota shop around really.

I learned that the hard way this morning.  Normally I take an OC Transit bus to the Convention Center to save money, but I opted to drive this morning because I wasn't feeling well and didn't feel like walking a mile to the bus stop from my home and walking another mile from the bus stop in Anaheim to the Convention Center.  I still made it to the Arena in time to get a decent seat to see the "Ready Player One" panel.

I hope you all had fun. I want to see what everyone got.

Wonder Con was good but it seamed to me like it's shrinking. No real new companies or vendors and several that usually were there were absent. A world premiere of a movie that is going to be released on dvd next week isn't much of a draw. The crowd looked small compared to last year, not that I'm complaining, but that's not good for the con. I was shocked that the "Fear the Walking Dead" panel  had many empty seats in the arena. Sunday was a ghost town. I don't know if I'm going to do the full 3 days next year. I think one whole day maybe all you need.

Since WonderCon and SDCC are both run by same staff of people i guessing, not sure what they try to have at both cons every year. but knowing sdcc like all cons are once a year and one the top 3 big ones to try get in that it be alot more traffic starting thurs since wed is just preview night and all the craziness really start thurs till sun. i just gotta check in thurs to help for a few that day and then i check in again before i leave san diego so not gotta check in so early and can just hang with the mass traffic till center opens and watch how many try to push to get in and fill the place in so many areas lol.

WonderCon ’18: President John Rogers Addresses Parking Woes and Comic-Con Questions

http://www.comicsbeat.com/wondercon-18-president-john-rogers-addresses-parking-woes-and-comic-con-questions/

Quote
The largest complaint for this year was the subject of parking. “The convention keeps getting better every year, which means it keep getting bigger every year too,” said one attendee. Quite early on each convention day, the parking surrounding the Anaheim Convention Center were filled. Worse yet, Disneyland prohibited convention parking in their lots. Many late attendees had to park all the way at the Honda Center and be shuttled over, cutting into their convention time. “And if we were thinking about staying here late, the shuttle ended everyday at 10 p.m.,” complained an attendee. However, the Honda Center’s parking said they would stay open each day until the last car left. “It would nice if next year they pushed the shuttles out to later,” added the attendee.

Nice write-up. I thoroughly enjoyed WonderCon yet again. It is just so relaxed. I spent all-day Saturday in panels and I could hit one, dash to another starting immediately and so forth. It was just so nice not to have to spend time in a room sitting through panels you don't want to see, while you miss others you did want to see, just to insure you get to see the one you wanted the most. You get so much more out of WonderCon if you enjoy panels.

I was very vocal leading up to Wondercon about my hatred of the online lotteries.
Somehow it turned out to be my best Wondercon ever, hardly any lines and just a little common sense and quick thinking, I got everything I wanted.
But the highlight was such a bit of luck. I was leaving the Agents of Shield signing, trying to catch the end of the star trek discovery panel. I missed it but needed somewhere to sit and eat. So I stayed for the next panel Bad Samaritan the new David Tennant film.
It ended up being a great panel and I got to meet and take photos with Irish actress Kerry Condon, who I love from shows like Hbo Rome and Luck, plus she played creepy Clara on the Walking Dead.
They then had an unannounced cast signing at their booth, where we got signed posters and other swag. We talked some more there about the short lived show Luck, which was a show I really liked when it aired.
Kerry raised her fist in the air as I said goodbye and shouted ( in her thick Irish accent ) Luck Forever! as I walked away.
Fun couple of hours that I won't forget.

Your basically spamming the forum with the same question. Please try to make a new thread regarding your question if there is not already a recent discussion on the topic. Posting in threads from years ago or in threads unrelated to your topic (aka posting about sdcc in a WonderCon thread) is inefficient and likely against the forums code of conduct.

This was my first year attending WonderCon, what big vendors are usually there that did not come?

I'm trying hard not to compare it to SDCC, but I agree, maybe not a full 3 days next year? Maybe someone who has gone in previous years can expand, but I did feel like there wasn't much to do. All the things I did do were great, but lots of down time. I am not complaining about the empty seats/floor, that was amazing to walk around and sit without thousands of people pushing you around.

In size, I walked the entire exhibit floor twice on Friday <2 hours, and once on sunday <1 hour. I really liked the exhibit floor offerings.

Friday I parked across the street and walked straight into North Hall 200A for Expanse, left halfway, came back for Reverie with a tiny line of about 30 in front of me. Stayed for Cloak and Dagger - all great panels.

Saturday was the worst because of parking. I thought I was going to be late for Ready Player One panel at the area. I drove around for 45+ mins in traffic to find parking, got pushed out to the Honda center with the left turn lane backed up at least 4 blocks. Pulled a U and just parked at the mall. The panel was scheduled to start at 12:25, I got into line at 12:15 thinking there was no way we would get in, and at least 2 sections of snake lines in front of me. But luckily I did, they don't feed people into the Arena, I feel like they wait for the rooms to clear before letting people in (not forced clear, just waiting for people who want to leave). This was the same for North Hall 200A. Anyway, the Arena was great, and I still saw empty seats at the edges. Granted you can't get a good look from the sides, but at least you see the stage. Arena is the way to go vs no view from the mid-back of hall H. I actually dislike Hall H compared to the Arena. Why not have round stadium seating of various tiers/balconies, there was only 1 screen above the stage and that was adequate. Hall H is not intimate at all, all seats are level with each other, and you get neck fatigue looking at the 9 screens. Stayed in the Arena for Lost in Space and Agents of Shield, both awesome! Loved the food trucks, at least some better tasting options of high priced food that I can leave and come back in under 10 mins.

I got nothing in the exclusives lotto, but I liked that at least I knew and didn't have to wait around. All in all - only spent about 3-6 hours each day. Unlike SDCC, I got lots of sleep during WonderCon. I really liked that there were multiple entrances and exits from all sides of each buildings, even to the back where parking is.

Slowly over the years the floor has turned into more of a nerdy swap meet instead of having company booths come. Marvel, dark horse, capcom, nerdist/geek and sundry, fox, kotobukiya, nintendo and etc. have booths. Obviously it's not at the scale of SDCC but there was a little more substance than people reselling items.

I was really bummed about no Kotobukiya this year. I got amazing deals at their booth there last year. They still had their big panel though where they go over what's coming up. I wonder why they didn't do a booth.

Kotobukiya was the big name that was there last year but m.i.a. this year. I don't think Capcom showed either. Two Morrows passed and no Bill Stout. I don't need all the studios there but Dark Horse, Marvel and the other Comic publishers should make an effort.

I know what you mean. I was at WonderCon, and I was thinking about how ECCC had more comics publishers exhibiting than WonderCon. Dark Horse, Boom, IDW, Image... all had a big presence at ECCC. Image and IDW had small booths in comparison at WOnderCon, but there was no Dark Horse. Of course, there was DC.

Just wanted to share my pics and thoughts on Wondercon.  I know it's a wee bit late but life (computer/server problems) will do that to you.
