Yup the link works whether you have a FB account or not.

I'm skeptical that Sideshow is going to get 6k new fans in the next month.  Just seems like if you like their stuff, you are probably already a fan on fb.  They'll get a few - but 6k?

Oh, ha ha, I suppose they are trying out a new marketing tactic.  Who knows?  Maybe by the time con rolls around, they could have close to five thousand "likes."

Hopefully their revealing the exclusives much later than they normally do, does not mean they're dropping their Collect 'n Go pre-order system. That was certainly convenient.

I agree. Sure, it killed impulse buys on site but I could go to the booth at any time and quickly get my order that I paid for in advance.

I wonder what the Hot Toys exclusive will be this year. Those always go really fast.

Looking at their list of last year's Con exclusives, and it's strange to see that some are still in-stock and available for purchase. Perhaps that's a reason for changing their marketing strategy this time? Or have they always had "leftovers" this many months later?

Love their product, but not so keen on this tie-in with creating new Facebook fans. Pretending they won't reveal what's at the show unless they reach certain numbers just seems disingenuous to me. This holds potential for backfiring on them.

Ah well, the game's afoot. We'll see what happens today.

I've only been buying from them for two years this July but the exclusives were usually available for a few months after (except the hot toys ones). I expect to see lower production runs this year because some are still in stock.

Frankly, Sideshow's stuff always looks good, but it never seems to be the kind of thing I would actually *buy*, you know?

I see that even some of their biggest fans are starting to complain about their recent run of convention exclusives. The company being content with releasing just a minor variant on something that has come out before. For example, how many different-coloured Clone Troopers does a collector need?

Exactly, if Sideshow continues to put out a lot of re-paints as their con exclusives, is there really any incentive for people to buy those. What I don't understand is some of the original stuff continuing to hang around. Those 1/4 scale Iron Man 2 helmets are awesome, I bought a set last year and they look great on my shelf.
